Gran concierto como todos los que interpreta Daniel Barenboim, no se puede tocar así sino se siente desde el alma Oídos agradecidos festejan esta gran interpretación
The cadenza of the first movement is just amazing. But it is still more amazing how Barenboim plays it. He keeps you on the edge of your seat, and holding your breath.
Chris Longford Actually the fugato cadenza was written for his pupil Archduke Rudolf in 1809. almost 15 or 20 years later since the first draft of this work was made. That explains the complexity of it.
Yes we’re so lucky to have these cadenzas for concerto no. 2,4 written from a mature Beethoven. The 2nd concerto cadenza is one of the most incredible feats for a written down improvisation ever!
At the time of Beethoven the pianists used to play and conduct, at present it is more a show, of course Daniel is an exception, his combination of playing and conducting is absolutely perfect . He must be very fond of Beethoven, since he gives us even the spiritual content. Littlejohn.
Among five piano concerti by Beethoven No.2 Op.19 is the least popular, but it is freshly like Mozart and yet already very Beethoven like. Barenboim's interpretaion is very profound, philosophical and contemplating. I have known him, mostly through LP's and CD's, very seldom through his live concerts for many years, almost since the late 1960's when he surprised the music world coming out of Argentina. Martha Algerich, Carlos Kleiber, and Barenboim are all from Argentine. Oh, Rondo Allegro has now started. I stop writing and listen to his performance attentively. Barenboim is a grwoing artist.
Last year, while shopping at a thrift store, I found this work from Beethoven in a still wrapped vinyl LP record from Deutsche Grammophon. I love listening to it - subtle static and all!
This is the best Mozart concerto he never wrote! Beethoven proved with this that he is better than Mozart. Like saying to Mozart, you were here by accident, because of your existence I was tortured in childhood, I made myself and after all suffering I still can write music as divine and mesmerizing as you. and even more... I won.
I have little knowledge and experience with classical music. I'm listening to this concert for the first time and immediately thought: That sounds very much like Mozart.
Mozart like in style, but hardly Mozart in structure or thematic material. There are no memorable melodies at all in this, just thematic material typical of Beethoven.
Barenboim - one of the greatest!

Love is in the air....

Kobzar3374 it sounds very much like his late piano sonatas don’t you think? Very mature writing for his earlier stage.

I had no clue but I could definitely tell it was mature. Thanks for the further information.

It is amazing concerto!) Performance by Barenboim - is one of the most successful and touching!) I think, He is - genius of piano performance art!
Genius, pure unadulterated genius. Gives so much pleasure.

Thank you for such exquisite music. I did so enjoy it!

You mean to tell me you were actually writing this stuff during the closing bars of the adagio ?????? No wonder you write such gibberish!
@The Blissful Zombie Concerti is the italian summation of concerto. No need to correct everyone's grammer. Just get the point my deer.
I have always had a thing for the third movement of this concerto… Thank you for sharing this video.
it is a classic
Call me a heretic, but it is at this moment that Beethoven invents the funky baseline.
Baenboim é um super-craque!!!
Pedro Magalhães Guimarães Ferreira, o "Baenboim" é como o amendoim, dá um super traque. O Barenboim é que é um super craque.
обожаю композиции Л.В. Бетховена )))))))))))))))

Nope, Beethoven Piano Concerto No.2 is not as charming as Mozart's best Piano Concertos.

Not bad
50 dislikes. I wonder the reason.
barenboim's eyes are telling me he's not neccessarily mentally healthy
concentration
nah I just like shitposting
At least you're being honest about it, which is nice.
Well, that's one peculiar praise for me.
No pianist is metally heathy. Part of the job almost
End of 1st and 2nd movements and those people don't cough their guts out. Amazing (wtf is wrong with you people?)
I prefer Argerich
