Certainly has improved 200% since the late 1960's and early 1970's. Was very blighted then. We used to walk on the boardwalk on Easter Sunday in all our finery when I was a kid. Remember the two fun houses at the Palace Casino, one a walk thru and the other a ride plus the big ferris wheel with the box seats.
Thank you for creating the video. Sadly, I’ve been away from NJ for too many decades. But, this video left me sad & confused. I thought that Asbury Park was different than what I saw. Most of the stores & exhibits can be found in similar forms in cities in other states. I liked the basic boardwalk & of course the ocean shots. But, I guess over time memories are distorted & you can’t go home again. 😢
Thank you, Catherine. If you are old enough to know Asbury Park pre-1970's, it is a completely different place. Having said that, it really has transformed in the last 20 years.
A bit of history. The Orchid Lounge was a popular club where musicians such as George Benson once played. It was located on Springwood Avenue in Asbury Park, NJ. The club was opened by Odyssey Moore in 1965 and later owned by Duval Moore. Unfortunately, the club is no longer open. If they opened a new one, I am not familiar with it.
Thanks, moving back soon and trying to show people what it’s like

Very true. My family took me there in the early sixties. Big changes have been made, and more to come.
I love going to Asbury ! Brings back many memories for me! Great video
Thanks!
Asbury Park has definitely gone through a transformation recently. You need to visit.
If you see me walking my black standard poodle, Oliver, say hi.
