The name of younger master "Yasuo Higa" was not correct, his name is Koyu Higa.Sorry to make you confuse
Plz Make a video on kyokushin
Kyokushin is not Okinawan.
Ok tq Bro.
That old master is totally legit. Respect
One thousand punches later..... Ichi, Ni, San, Chi, Go.... training never stops, it's a life commitment.
I love traditional karate..
That guy is dangerous, totally awesome stuff ..
I loved the part about using the hips to punch. I total got what he was communicating. i always love watching the Masters...thank you for sharing
shorin-ryu kobayashi is my favourite style..
easy to understand and it suits me very well..
thanks to this style, I'm very confident sparring with others striking martial art..
I do shotokan and I make some little sparrs with other martial artist. I have no problem to beat them, even if we have the same years of experience

I don't care who you are , don't punch a wall, ever! Only strike a surface that has some give, especially as a beginner. Love Sensei's quiet spirit and attention to detail.
Excellent explanation! Incredible as it may seem, but many black belts don't know that.
See the control and patience! I got cramped just by following this part 4:40 to 7:40 🙏🙏🙏
These are a great series. At 4:30 this is similar to a wing chun “lap da” , where you shoot your arm fwd to intercept a strike or grab, turn your wrist, pull them while punch with other hand.
I did Shotokan for 8 years .3 times week and a couple of separate 1 week all day courses
.regards the straight punches although I started on in 72 and stopped in 80 ( I am 78 ) I really cannot swing a punch .BUT in my experience at the dojo , trying to block a straight punch is hard if you have never trained .I will admit most of the time I punched straight to the chest ( pulled my punches ) but I have used a concreted ( in my garage floor ) makiwara punching board ,to practise full power punching .Using knuckles/ edge of hand and palm .Plus a heavy bag .
Obviously unless your dojo opponent is wearing protective equipment you cannot really connect full power punches to the chest .We developed a good technique ( can still do ) where you punch fast yo the body but you snap back the fist and you make contact ( make a noise to opponents gi, ) to show you made a point .in a real life fight I would not pull back my punch as then the power of my punch would travel down the forearm into my fist into the assailants body .
Then I would run like he'll .lucky although 78 I still train and can still run of I have to .lol
Never forget those 8 years .graded by sensei( tiger ) Enoeda. Long since died.
Enoeda Sensei, I would count you as very fortunate!
Muito bom técnica extraordinária para nosso aprimoramento.
Qué lindo ver como un compatriota Argentino llegó tan lejos
Quien es?

Awesome
excellent points. i'm beginnning to see the finer points to the explanations that I have forgotten. This is just the Basic form. but the concept here is the movement of the hip. the idea is to be able to attack from any position, whether one is facing another direction so that one can utilize the hips for punching. Thanks for the report.,,
If that's the Jodoka's first class he will be very good
Was just thinking the same thing.
Y.M. Farouk He is alive, he’s currently 78
Nice
I'm looking forward for matsubayashi style, and motobu style..
almost simillar concept with kobayashi, but still I'm courius what this channel will show if they documenting motobu and matsubayashi..
Very nice Karate
So the Master is a 3rd-degree black belt? I see three stripes.
Great Stuff!- blackbeltbill.
Like how Sensei use vertical fist instead of horizontal fist.
Listen to the sound their Gee's this displays their punching power
I always loved the traditional training more than the now training the now training is more of kickboxing MMA its not even Karate any more. Its not like how it used to be back in the day where it wasn't for sports it was just tool for self defense and survival.
400 N per punch which is a 40 kg punch comes at you with the acceleration of 9.8 promx.
And the air? The air decelerate you. So it would be the half of 9.8 m/s2
しかし究道館のお姉さんの演武はカッコ良すぎです。
Cool work
Would've been priceless to learn from a master like him..., now, it's too late..
Did he pass away recently?
j j maybe he dead
De no ser por estos maestros de okinawa ya el karate hubiera desaparecido..fueron muy responsables en mantener la tradición y la pureza del Te..los estilos originarios de Naha, Tomari y Shuri...
Oh mai...after seeing how traditional Ryus train and spar makes me go goosebumps since Silat has similar training, conditioning and spar. Especially regarding Bunkai (in Silat we call them Buah Pukul) it is very similar. Could it be that Traditional Ryus and Silat has the same roots?
If it’s has roots in Fuzhou yes
❤❤❤❤❤
I LOVE this channel, I don't train karate but it is SO inspiring to see these old men still training, be as tough as shit, and admire how they have dedicated their lives to this craft. Thank you.
that woman has great hip rotation

what is the main differences between shorin ryu and goju ryu styles?
I practice shorin ryu, but, some people say the goju ryu style is better for self defense
"some people say" I wouldn't worry about that. I prefer Shorin Ryu, but both are great for self defense. Goju has deeper stances, Shorin has more natural (higher) stances. Goju places a bit more emphasis on power, Shorin places a bit more emphasis on speed. They have different kata, so different strategies for combat.
Goju, Shorin Ryu, Shorei kan are the three main branches of Okinawan Traditional TE CHAN-KARATE...as handed down by Matsumora,&Nagamine Sensei so on.. This is never intended as sport? L & d
Itchi Ni San Chi Go Roku Shitchi Hatchi Kiu Djiu
In the first part of the video the Sensei showed using his hips to drive the punch in relaxed fashion similar to what is done in for example Chen Taiji. Now everyone is practicing just pure arm movement?
Watch their hips you'll see a lil whip action happen before the arms move
5:05 look in the mirror. the cameraman has some SWAG
no one was practising tzuki delivering chudan on the central body axis... most punches where almost in line with their shoulders.... is that common practice in this Shorin style?
Victor Celeste yes it this schools style of striking.
Yes
How do you defend against commotio cordis when they strike you in the chest? Is it possible to condition the chest to be stronger against blows to the heart?
Get some muscles. It is one of their roles to protect the body. Not that it gives much protection, but better than nothing, especially if you consider other pluses of it.
But I would not be worried about the heart. Have many people tried to strike you there during sparring sessions? Except some random one punches, no one has ever tried to hit me there. Your hand keep it covered most of the time. I would recommend be worried more about your head, solar plexus and abdominal area.
stand against them at a slight angle and and blows will glance off if you correctly disperse the force with your forearms
If your stance is correct, your opponent will not get a direct shot to your t-zone.
I practice shotokan. The way tsuki punch is the stance too deep. Not comfort at all even it will make the stance stronger.
That is called natural stance: Matsubayashi S.R. /motobu -Arak...
orochi dopo :D
And, don't bob your head up and down when you punch.
That must've been over 200 tsukis
A thousand or sometimes two thousand tsukis per session besides other techniques is not unusual during Master Higa's training. 😓
O

must be american...
by the sound of his voice later on, he's Argentine
