I remember being a teenager listening to this song on a discman in my high school library. holy moly that might as well have been a different person. so long ago! fun song
Nah, late nineties, it was the time Depeche Mode played the same night in O-town. Which is where my gf wanted to go. The choice was easy, I told her, "have a good time"...
I've always loved the piano melody... which turns out to be a sample from Ray Bryant's "A Song for My Father" ... which is a cover of the song by Horace Silver.
zsantschi thanks, i have just listened to the Ray Bryant version which is now a favourite. Realy good cover artwork as well. There was another sample that meat beat did at the very end of Satiricon which was a Dudley Moore piece from the soundtrack to Bedazzled called The Millionaire. MBM have pointed to some great music.
its only taken 30 years but I just realised the vocal sample is off the Uncle Meat album by Frank Zappa - Hello Teenage America off 'The Voice of the Cheese' and Wowee Zowee off 'Ian Underwood Whips It Out'

It's what MBM opened with, when I got lucky enough to witness them live, down in Y-Bor City. The bass vibrated my body, which was awesome
Was that the Ritz, early 90s?

It's f*cking Steely Dan, Rikki dont lose my number.
