xD Funny for those unsure though the actually levels are Level 1: Larks' Tongues in Aspic 1 Level 2: Larks' Tongues in Aspic 2 Level 3: Larks' Tongues in Aspic 3 Level 4: Larks' Tongues in Aspic 4 Level 5
I agree with this a billion percent. If I have to show someone an introductory sample of Adrian, this is it, but it's so affectively (effectively) sublime. Just lifts me out of myself pretty much everytime. I get amped up as soon as that first note hits, cuz I know I'm in for a ride. Stevie Ray Vaughn's solo in "Can I Have a Talk With You" can do the same thing.
Also, can I add that I really appreciate that you start the clip at 5:02, so that the listener gets to hear the riff going as a build-up into it. :) ... And then that thing that happens at 5:49 ... a moment of utter guitar inspiration.
it's such an outstanding solo :D definitely one of my favourites, i still have a goosebumps every time i hear it coming especially at the very beginning when it starts, it feels like some last boss from a game or main antagonist from a show enters the room for final encounter you've been all waiting for xD
I've been listening to bands like mastodon and the Mars Volta for years. I never realised how much of a huge influence king crimson obviously is on them.
That is almost exactly how I got into King Crimson about 15 years ago. Go down the worm hole, my friend. Just saw them in Philly a few weeks ago, and it was the pinnacle of live experiences for me.
Math, Art and Anthropology professors from the local college, along with the younger Head of Security head out to a secret venue after work to pump out all their daily frustrations through the power of music, playing heavier and with more precision and passion than all the idols of school youngsters they're trying to educate, all the while the ignorant student body take them for complete geeks, bookworms and buffoons.
Level 5 Is when you are taken by a type 3 alien civilization and they extract your concience to make you evolve into a higher life form that Is sentient on it's own but also part of a collective intelligence that Is both onmi present and omnipotent. And also you can play badass guitar solos like Adrián Belew
It's more impressive that Trey can play along. Of course performers can perform the things they write (though even Fripp admits Fracture is challenging). I'm always more wowed when people can play music by other people.
I get it that this concert was somewhat in the past, but this has to be one of the times that four talented musicians literally burned the stage down. A full assault by all four of KC !!
Yeah the whole dvd is like this. The improvs are massive. The multiple versions of Deception Of The Thrush, a deep cut so deep many don’t know it exists, but these live versions are up there with anything the band ever did. Thank you King Crimson.❤
Am I the only human on earth to list, as their two favorite bands of all-time, King Crimson (based upon decades of excellence) and the Sex Pistols (based solely on "Never Mind the Bollocks")? Just curious.....
Well, I love the pistols... But I'd have to say King Crimson, Dream Theater, Circus Maximus and Porcupine Tree. I'm more into the technical shit. Anything simpler would have to be Drum and Bass music or something. As someone whose recently seen DT and KC, and "Robert Fripp and the Chamber Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists", I can't ever go back to listening to normal music. And NO, not Opeth or Pink Floyd's "The Wall". Overrated bullshit. Much prefer Hawkwind and Chrome who influenced those bands in the first place.
I saw it a couple of years ago. Belew wasn't in the line up but they all NAILED it!!! It was superb. But the inclusion of 3 drummers made it so much more technical live. Highly recommend seeing them these days anyway :)
I saw this band perform on this tour@ Lakewood Civic Auditorium in 2001...Lakewood High School auditorium for all intents and purposes....That alone made it probably the most powerful concert I ever experienced. I saw them @ the University of Oberlin in 1981 from a church pew 3 rows back (Dicipline tour)...I thought THAT changed me...until I saw this. My impressions and views of KC, music and guitar playing were never the same again...
Great song & vid, really enjoyed this. Am I the only one to notice how off the timing of vid to audio is though? Ah, the tour my deceased bro & I missed... he was THE biggest Crimson fan of all time, even attended Robert's crafty guitar course!
@@Benjamin-om3ih given they where open about being inspired by tool after touring with them in 2001 I think, if it's rustling someone's Jimmies they don't know their crimson history
Adrian's solo at 5:11 is just sublime.
Level 1: Beginners
Level 2: Guys who know how to play a little
Level 3: Good Musicians
Level 4: Great Musicians
Level 5: King Crimson
LOL this made me laugh.
In all seriousness, these guys knew their shit by part 2.. That album still mesmerizes me to this day. TO THIS DAY!!
You are OK !

Adrian Belew looks like he just finished a shift as a janitor at an elementary school.
yeah, at first, but when you look carefully,he has some slacks on and the shirt might be satin
He's no janitor...believe that!
joyce sweeting Janitors wear satin! Hater. 😂
LOL 😂
what's wrong with being a janitor
5:02 Adrian's solo begins. Fkn legend.
god, this particular performance kills me, it's like his guitar ripped a hole though the universe when that note hits

Also known as "Larks tongue in aspic 5"
I've been listening to this for years and only just found that out yesterday, my reaction : "Of course! Duh"
Is this the best and most innovative band ever? At least it is a personal favorite.. I think I finally place them above Pink Floyd..
Wonderful song, wonderful music, the greatest band ever.
There's something about Fripp's smile as Belew starts his solo that just makes me beam!
It's one of Belew's best solos ever. Fripp saw it coming.
it's such an outstanding solo :D definitely one of my favourites, i still have a goosebumps every time i hear it coming

The way they complete each other is unbelievable
I've been listening to bands like mastodon and the Mars Volta for years. I never realised how much of a huge influence king crimson obviously is on them.
Yes, but the key difference is that King Crimson is good.
Tool as well. Drummer is a massive KC fan.
@@CripplingDuality Nice burn
The end of Sleeping Giant is directly influenced by the intro to this song. So cool.

That blue pixel on the right is Robert fripp.
5:02..that is a badass riff!!!
when they bring the nasty riff back but slower ^ chef's kiss *
When you know something really well and then don't listen to it for a few years.
Oh!
I keep coming back to this album!
I can't stop listening to King crimson for the past 3 years. In fact I take it easy.
2:56 what a great riff!
Amazing composition, I love it. Mr Fripp is a musical genius !
This has got to be one of the best beats I have ever heard!
Que director más sublime que desde un costado y luces bajas dirige este coloso musical de ese momento con su guitarra mágica. Al divagaciones.

I fucking love these guys! love this song! and this performance!! truly masters of the prog realm, sounds like a fucking 8 bit! a nightmare. deadly
2:55 for the impossible Fripp part
arquitectura musical y creatividad emocional en su MÁXIMA EXPRESIÓN, KING CRIMSON entro en la ETERNIDAD!
Since i discovered this I come back to the solo every day...
Incredible technicality
holy fuck. i can't believe these live videos only have in the thousands for views! they're fantastic!!
Adam Sandler... What a bass player
This is so brutal.
I have no idea how Fripp plays some of the runs he plays. It's mind boggling.
It helps when you invent your own guitar tuning. :-)
But, yes, he is a genius.
Practice, just as he always tells his students!
It's more impressive that Trey can play along. Of course performers can perform the things they write (though even Fripp admits Fracture is challenging). I'm always more wowed when people can play music by other people.
Some things in life do not require an explanation, this track is one of those things
Awesome! goose bumps a mile high
😎

Laughter and tears. The best.
Well, with a bit more practice, I'd say they've got potential.
Level 6
You forgot to use the sarcasm font LOL
This song sonud like indiscipline!! Amazing and powerfull perfomance!!
Good god they are good . So in sync with each-others minds

My favorite post-Red tune. Some syncing problems with the video. 🤐
just excellent! thank you for the upload!
Larks Tongues in Aspic 5
epic...absolutely epic
Adrian Belew... you are a fvcking BEAST!
Siempre que escucho Level Five ........ No se por que imagino a Siqueiros pintando un mural con esa música de fondo 🤔🤔🤔
Cant wait to see Robert Fripp and the rest of King Crimson oct 4th at the Warfield auditorium in San Francisco!!
I was at that show. Killer stuff!

Boss battle music
Because this song exists, I don't have to write music.
9.0 on the Richter Scale, possibly higher
Impresionante 🥇
Puro carmesí bestial...!
Adrian Belew could be the GTA 2 Mad Scientist boss.
Go king Crimson for the 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction!
Like Robert Fripp would ever accept such a thing.
Fripp spit on that
I kept waiting for a tiny Stonehenge to drop down onto the stage while watching this....
Making a big thing of it would be a good idea
no one knew who they were or what they were doing
Adrian Belew is fuckin awesome
How does Trey make that cool sound at 3:32?
They made a track for video games
Yesss! And it's great experience to play it also! 😁
Incredible.
Fear The Fripp !! Oh. gawd !
Killer of a track!
Me animo a decir que estamos atraveando por la mejor época de King Crimson.

They will probably always be way ahead of their time....
Yes, time will never catch up with The Mighty Crim
