I just found your review of the tree hopper products. I am getting into saddle hunting for 2021 season. I appreciate he reviews. It has helped me make my excisions for my gear. Thanks,
That's awesome, Gary! Welcome to saddle hunting! Thank you for the feedback- I really appreciate it! ...and I'm glad the video helped! If you have any questions along the way don't hesitate to ask!
If finances are tight or if you prefer to make smart purchases and aren't sold on flashy gimmicks and advertising. Take some time and watch solid, honest and real world reviews like this and you'll never go wrong! I'd love to win one of these treehopper recon slings!
Thank you, staybuilt! I appreciate the feedback! I hope you enjoy the Tree Suit! The Recon is fun as well even with all the different saddles out there to choose from!
I built one out of steel last year and paired it with an over center buckle from Eastern Woods Outdoors. You can build it for ~$25 with material left over. Great for pre sets as well.
Bradley, if you posted this comment within the first few days of August you were in the drawing and I just didn't see it and failed to respond to you till now. Also, I have another saddle giveaway the first week of September for an Aero Hunter Flex. Just check out the video for that one!
I also like the minimalistic approach to a saddle with a smaller price point. Thanks for the review it was helpful. I think it would be fun to use so I'm in to win one .
Thank you, Mark! I appreciate that! Always glad to help fellow hunters! Yeah, Mark at Treehopper is big on making things affordable which is awesome! You're in the drawing- thanks for entering!

Recon has the most uncomfortable belt system to walk with it or climb in it with ANY weight on the top panel. Quality is great and it is very comfortable when you sit of lean in it AFTER all adjustments are done.. If you do not use pouch it is ok. Not for beginners for sure. Also, platform is good quality, but when you buckle it on and use it - be ready to hear lot's of sounds on the most north eastern trees. In addition, the buckle system is good enough to keep it secured, but platform itself is "breathing" on the trees I used it on. It is not competitor to my other (more expensive) platform, but could be useful on the public land if you plan to leave it on, though. BTW, platform in your video has much shorter teeth (!) then whatever I got. It could be the reason...
Thanks for the feedback, NeoShooter! I agree with much of what you shared. I've not had a lot of noise with my Treehopper platform and I'm not familiar with models with longer teeth so I need to look into that! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Never heard of that brand before. Thanks for the video. The medium wouldn't fit me but it would fit my wife and or daughter. Put me in for the drawing. I'm already subbed a long time ago. Thank you and God bless

Do you prefer the Treehopper Recon or the Cruzr XC? I am coming from an original Trophy Line saddle from 2010 and looking for something that is lighter and easier to wear walking in but provides good comfort. I've never tried a two panel saddle. Thanks.
Great question, sameold77! I prefer the Curzr XC for sure! Two totally different styles of saddles. I keep the Recon as a backup but the Cruzr XC is my primary saddle. I've owned and sat in a lot of saddles and the XC is my favorite one at this point. The two panel saddle (sling) is not good for carrying dump pouches and you have to adjust it at the tree and drop the lower panel. Making that adjustment is difficult if you use dump pouches to carry in any gear because of the weight pulling down on the upper panel. However, if you don't use dump pouches and want to have minimal gear and weight (talking ounces here), the Recon is a great option! If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask! Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the feedback. I actually decided to order a Latitude Method metal free, it'll be here tomorrow. My reasons were that I wanted something I could wear walking long distances without it feeling 'saggy' like my TL, something lightweight and comfortable, and the two panel I just want to test because I've never used one. I picked up some Novix Minis and double steps so now need to decide on a new platform, any recommendations? I was going to order a couple Tree Suits but have read issues with squeaking, any issues with yours? Thanks again.
Thank you, B2B! I appreciate that! That's nice of you to pay it forward! You're in the drawing! Just to clarify, only the Recon is part of the giveaway. Thanks for entering!!
Been watching your reviews. Didn't know there were so many options but price is the main reason I haven't gone to this option yet. Please enter me. Thank you.
Hey Brian, if you posted this comment within the first couple days of August you were in the drawing. Sorry that I missed your comment! I have another saddle giveaway the first week of September for the Aero Hunter Flex!
This is modeled after the Anderson Tree Sling, which was about 50$. A Sit Drag can be had for 25$. My biggest issue with all these saddle manufacturers is the astronomical markup.
Quabbin with Coop, yes the Recon is modeled after the Anderson sling! I do agree that there are cheaper DIY options. I used a modified Sitdrag the first year I saddle hunted which was nice but not great. However, I will say that there are some great features that come with a purchased saddle that you don't get with a DIY saddle unless you're really good. In addition, a saddle could potentially last you a very long time so the cost of the saddle is spread out over it's life. You also need to compare a saddle purchase to a climbing stand, lock-on, ladder stand, etc. which people spend hundreds of dollars on. Last point I'll make, a saddle is mobile so you only need to purchase one. Many lock-on and ladder stand hunters purchase several stands and pre-set several locations. You don't need to do that with a saddle. So it all comes down to what each person is willing to invest in. Thanks for the comment and feedback! It's always welcomed and appreciated!
Thanks for another great review. The Recon is a very innovative product and I wouldn't mind trying one out this season. Please put me in for the giveaway and keep up the great work.
Great review! I came across this video as I was trying to find reviews on this saddle. Was not disappointed. I have an old trophy line that I bought last year for my first year in a saddle. I'm very intrigued by this saddle though. Sign me up please
You got it, jimmysabo! You're in the drawing! And thanks for the comment- I appreciate that! Yeah I'm glad to help get the word out there about Treehopper! Great company with great prices!
Please enter me in the drawing for the recon and suit platform. The recon looks like an upgrade from the Anderson big buck tree sling I have been using for the last 24 years.
That’s a good looking set up. Especially for the money im really glad a company is trying to make it affordable to get started. Into saddle hunting. Good luck to everyone 👍
Hey bkbowhunter1! Good to hear from you my friend! I totally agree, we need to support companies that desire to make their products affordable to the everyday outdoorsman! Treehopper does just that! Take care!
Another great review. I've never been lucky enough to win anything but please put me in for the drawing. I would love to win the Cruzr but this saddle would be great for a new saddle hunter.
How do you compare it to some of the other saddles in terms of comfort? I know it’s subjective but your very good in being descriptive. I apologize if you answered this already, there was over 360 comments when I typed this. Thanks in advance
Great question, grundan69! The Recon is very comfortable and you have the ability to adjust the two panels for comfort throughout your hunt which is really nice. I would say the Recon is equal in comfort to my top two or three favorite saddles. The advantages to some of the other saddles has nothing to do with comfort. Hope that helps!
@@madhuntsadventures Great! I just saw the Latitude and looks very interesting. I figured since you were in MI you may have already had experience them them.
I am getting into saddle hunting this year. Coming back from 12 months recovery on a service related elbow injury so hope I can run my compound. If not I got a CamX 330 crossbow on standby. This is one of the saddles I was looking at. Great review and I would definitely like to be entered into the drawing. New to this channel but like what I see. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, Patrick! I appreciate that! And thank you for your service!! I hope you have a quick recovery as well! You're in the drawing- thank you for entering!
Thank you, Don! I appreciate that! Yeah there are so many options out there now! You're in the drawing- thanks for entering! I'm using 11mm Maxim Dynamic rope for my tether. Here is a link: www.flaghouse.com/General-Education/Project-Adventure/Challenge-Course-Equipment/11mm-Maxim-Dynamic-Rope-by-the-foot.axd
I would love to win a recon sling. Thank you for reviewing these products so thoroughly. I'm going to hunt from a slig for the first time this year and partially based my choices from your reviews.
Love the unbiased reviews for saddle hunting gear. This kind of review has more value than any produced by someone trying to sell me something. Please enter me in the draw.
Thanks for watching the video, Darrell! Unfortunately the drawing already took place but I do hope your son can get into saddle hunting! There are a ton of saddle options out there and I'm sure he'd love it!
I would love to enter the drawing. I have sat in the Recon before. My experience was that pulling the lower portion down below my thighs while sitting, did help with my comfort personally. Thanks for the review!
I had no idea that this is even existed so thank you for reviewing! It’s great that there are less expensive saddle & platform options available. Please sign me up for the drawing.
Thank you, Aaron! I appreciate that! Great question! Here’s the deal, as far as weight and comfort, both are very similar. The Cruzr XC is 1.1 lb and the Recon is 1.5 lb and both have a lot of adjustability for comfort. The biggest difference is going to be that the Recon has two sections (an upper and a lower) that work independently of each other. If you’re attaching dump pouches the top section will want to drop down due to the added weight so you will need to take a little more time at the tree getting it in position and you don’t have to do that with the XC. That’s the biggest difference between them. If you can deal with that, for the price, the Recon is a great choice. However, if you want to get 100% ready at the truck, the XC is your better option (but cost $100 more). So it comes down to personal preference. Thanks for asking! Hope that helped!
Throwing my name in the hat. I am down in Florida, but my wife and her family are from the Ludington area. I love getting to hunt when we are able to visit.
We now have a WINNER for the Recon sling!! The drawing has ended.

You got it, Craig! You're in the drawing! Thanks for the feedback- I appreciate that!
I would like to be entered in the drawing, and thanks for this review! I didn't even know this sling existed.
You got it, jimmysabo! You're in the drawing! And thanks for the comment- I appreciate that! Yeah I'm glad to help get the word out there about Treehopper! Great company with great prices!
Great video once again. Have looked at that platform a couple times. Looks solid. Throw me in the drawing please. Thanks
Thank you, Mark! I appreciate that! Yeah it’s pretty solid! You just have to get it seated down snug! You’re in the drawing! Thanks for entering!
Please enter me in the drawing for the recon and suit platform. The recon looks like an upgrade from the Anderson big buck tree sling I have been using for the last 24 years.
Thank you for entering, Bruce! Just to clarify, only the Recon is being given away. You’re in the drawing!
Ok not a problem. The Recon is what I would really want to win.
@@brucelarson4569 Perfect!! Good luck to you!
Take care!
The recon is great. If I win it I will regift it I have one
Haha! Absolutely R P! Sounds like you're always generous with your gear! You're in the drawing!

Thank you, Dan! The giveaway is the first week in August so you’re in the drawing! Thanks for entering!
Good job on the review. Thx
Another great review. I've never been lucky enough to win anything but please put me in for the drawing. I would love to win the Cruzr but this saddle would be great for a new saddle hunter.
Thank you, E TV! I appreciate that! It never hurts to enter! You’re in the drawing! The Recon or the Crüzr would be great to win!
Have you ever reviewed the latitude method 2 panel sling or the Eberhard signature saddle?
Great question, Brian! I've been in communication with Latitude and I've got a message out to Tetherd so I hope to review them in the near future.
@@madhuntsadventures Great! I just saw the Latitude and looks very interesting. I figured since you were in MI you may have already had experience them them.
@@brianemme5433 I wish I had but hopefully soon!
Please enter me in the drawing. Really excellent video, btw. Many of the saddle instructional videos are garbage.
Thank you, TheFarmlegend! I appreciate the feedback! You're in the drawing- thank you for entering and for the support!
Good review 👍, did not know about the Recon. Throw my name in for the drawing. What kind of rope where you using for a tether? And what size
Thank you, Don! I appreciate that! Yeah there are so many options out there now! You're in the drawing- thanks for entering! I'm using 11mm Maxim Dynamic rope for my tether. Here is a link: www.flaghouse.com/General-Education/Project-Adventure/Challenge-Course-Equipment/11mm-Maxim-Dynamic-Rope-by-the-foot.axd
I would really like to be part of the draw for this sling. Once again a great well thought out review.
Cheers
Thank you, Adam! I really appreciate that! You’re in the drawing! Thank you for entering!

Thanks for watching the video, Darrell! Unfortunately the drawing already took place but I do hope your son can get into saddle hunting! There are a ton of saddle options out there and I'm sure he'd love it!
Interested in drawing... another product I had never heard of.
You got it, Kooter Killer! You're in the drawing!
I would love to get into saddle hunting with this.
I hear you, Cole! It’d be a great place to start! You’re in the drawing- thanks for entering!
I would love to enter the drawing. I have sat in the Recon before. My experience was that pulling the lower portion down below my thighs while sitting, did help with my comfort personally. Thanks for the review!
You got it, Joel! You’re in the drawing! Glad to hear you thought the Recon was comfortable!
I had no idea that this is even existed so thank you for reviewing! It’s great that there are less expensive saddle & platform options available. Please sign me up for the drawing.
You are welcome, Chris! I’m thankful Treehopper allowed me to! They’re great products for sure! You’re in the drawing!
Great review. How does this saddle compare to the cruzr in comfort and weight? I’m interested in the drawing.
Great review! Throw my name in the hat please! And thanks for the opportunity
Thank you, Luke! I appreciate that! Your names been thrown in! Haha! Thanks for entering!
Very interested also in this. You are very good at reviews!
Thank you, Allen! I really appreciate that! You're in the drawing- thank you for entering!
Interested in the give away!
Thanks for entering, Cooper!
Throwing my name in the hat. I am down in Florida, but my wife and her family are from the Ludington area. I love getting to hunt when we
are able to visit.
Thanks for entering, Michael! Treehopper is in FL as well! My wife and I love Ludington but I've never hunted up there- maybe one day!
