Whenever I see giant lumber I grab it too. That wood you found looks really high quality, it's amazing what people throw out, but I am glad they do!

It came out really nice! I think it will be a little bit heavy to carry in gigs and studios, with the rest of the gear (pedals etc). But it looks really durable! Thanks for sharing!
I made mine out of 1/4 inch plywood. Used some brads and glue to hold the rabbit joints together, then skinned it in a light flexible black leather and padded and lined the interior with felt to fit my Strat. Dressed up the outside with a silver piano hinge and silver corner guards, with a black briefcase handle at the balance point. Weighs a whole hell of a lot less.

just be careful not to step on it.
I always keep mine in the upright position when not being carried, I also never lay it on the floor.
