im 63yr old, and my granny cooked chocolate gravy every weekend while i was growing up, granny and grandpa would pick us up every friday night and when we would wake up saturday morning and granny would say what do you girls want for breakfast and we would say chocolate gravy, what memory you brought back.
Y'all crack me up. Thanks for the good morning laughs. I have a salty food story from when I was. My dad allowed me to cook some fresh green beans from the garden. He didn't think I put salt in the pot of beans, which I had, so we had a pot of fresh salty green beans. Too salty to eat. All you can do is laugh. Making memories in the kitchen is what it's all about. Because we're never promised tomorrow. I only had my dad for 20 years of my life. He was my best friend. I'm getting ready to turn 61 and I miss him every day of my life. So make sure to cherish every single moment together with your loved ones. ❤
OMG! Lou’s smile and wink when you said you were going out of town was exactly the reaction I get when my hubby travels😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣- having some “me” time is necessary in a marriage🥰. Lou, love your top.
I know we were all sitting here going there's smoke behind you and your both arguing over slamming the Cocoa around 😂 I just love watching you two you made my morning Dan and Lou ❤️
I was born in Arkansas and I remember my Mamaw made chocolate gravy just for me. Then my mother moved away from them when I was 3 and I grew up in south Carolina and nobody ever heard of chocolate gravy 😮
I feel bad if you can't find the same burner cover. I love your blk/wht plaid decor in your home. It blends the 2 rooms together perfectly. Then the family is everything quote is great too. I always use only one burner to cook. I don't want to have to clean the entire stove.
My husband makes great chocolate gravy. Our family always requests he makes it for family gatherings. I love to eat it without biscuits. It wouldn't be a Cooking with Dan and Lou without the excitement . 🔥😄 I recommend the Morrow Family go get their labs check for elevated Sodium level now!!🤣 Love you all!!
My Grandma Earp from Arkansas used to come and visit us in Texas. She always make chocolate gravy for us. It wasn't sweet at all but so good! I miss my Grandma Earp and her chocolate gravy.
I grew up on biscuits and chocolate gravy here in Kentucky. We would split our hot biscuits and butter them up, then cover in chocolate gravy. So good. I think your gravy needed to be a bit thinner. Love watching your cooking episodes!
Our neighbors in west Tennessee fixed this when we were growing up. Their recipe wasn't the same as the one you used. It was so good. I think the ingredients were cocoa, sugar and water. It wasn't thick. Lou I've done that same thing of turning on the wrong eye and burning my cover. Great job guys. God bless.
I’m from Arkansas and had never heard of chocolate gravy until I met my husband which was 40 years ago. His family had it almost every day. I learned how to make it and our kids had it quite often growing up. We love it 💞💞 I fix mine a little different than y’all’s though. Love watching all the Morrow’s videos!!
I’m an Arkansan born and raised here 54 years! I make chocolate gravy and white gravy all the time! Some people make it like y’all did and I don’t like it like that at all neither do my kids! The way we make it is I put some sugar in a pan “unmeasured” 🤣and some cocoa and stir it up real good and add water and bring to a boil and pour over butter and dip our biscuits in it or pour it over light bread 😋! We like the gravy thin and not like pudding! Your making me want to make some now🤣my kids used to leave notes taped to the cabinet asking for chocolate gravy! Try it my way sometime it is delicious 😋 and we love salty biscuits or my crew does🤣Good job guys👏👏
Hi ya’ll, Breakfast for dinner is good at anytime of day. It all looks good. I have never had or made chocolate gravy. .Chocolate makes wild , on a high. I love watching you all cook. Have a good day ❤
😄Mork & Mindy. Decades ago when I had an electric stove, I burned a couple of burner covers too 😂. Sometimes breakfast food for dinner is good, I like salad for dinner too. This episode was definitely one for the memories 😂.
Hey!! That’s an Eastern NC thing too. Called Soppin’ Chocolate here and most like it. I don’t. lol. Y’all did great!! I don’t know if you remember this or not in the lodge demo, but you were starting to use tablespoons instead of teaspoons in your recipe that day, and I stopped you and you were wondering why I said and I said 2 tablespoons would be way too much lol. Y’all did great today. I will give you a tip on baking a pound of bacon in the oven on a cookie sheet that has a lip on it on the side. Bake at 350 around 25 to 30 minutes. The oven makes bacon cook so pretty and it does not smoke and it does not splatter. I couldn’t believe it the first time I did it but that’s a really good thing to do is bake oven bacon. Love this episode! ❤
I enjoyed watching you guys cook. I also enjoy when the whole family is together and then you go around and ask everybody how they liked it. Keep up the good work and continue making videos because we love them enjoy your blessed day XXXO 💕 😁
Breakfast is the best dinner idea ever, you tried w the biscuits, i am a sweet & salty kinda person so i would try it. Great video, you definitely need a cookbook idea Stay safe 🙏✌️💚🤠
My husband is from rural Appalachia in Southwest Virginia and his Mama always made chocolate gravy for his family and served them with biscuits too. So, chocolate gravy is not just an Arkansas thing. I think it is a southern thing. And Lou, I did the same thing with my burner cover and about lit the house on fire. I threw all the burner covers away after that, for fear I'd do it again. I'm still in shock that Steph did not like something that y'all made for Cooking With Dan and Lou! Congratulations to you both on gaining a daughter-in-law in Lyssa! Jake and Lyssa's wedding was very nice. I know you must be proud of Jake!
once again im in tears i always wear headphones when i watch anything so my husband is looking at me i said guess what im watching he says probably uncle dan aint that who u was watching the other morning when u woke everyone up laughing
I'm with you Dan and Lou, breakfast for dinner is one of my faves! When doing breakfast for a crowd, I've found doing the bacon in the oven the easiest, less messy way. Line a baking tray with parchment, lay the strips out and bake at 350. Can do this with sausage as well and into the fry pan to crisp up. Feel free do the day before, and just warm back up💜
I've been there, done that with stove covers. My mom's stove was built into the counter, and the controls were push buttons. We usually went through a set of burner covers every couple of years due to accidental button pushing. I sure do miss her 💔
I watched Jake & Lyssas wedding. It was wonderful! Ya know can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally turned on the wrong burner on my stove. Luckily I have a glass top. 😂 I’m jealous of your cast iron collection. It’s awesome! Ya know I watch all the Morrows across two platforms and I have to say your cooking videos are definitely my favorite. You guys give me so many dinner ideas and the family all being there is so wholesome. ❤ P.S. Please keep feeding Laramie muscles. They are a sight to behold. 😂
Y'all are fun to watch. I love when things are cooking on the stove and you turn the heat up, cook a little more, turn the heat up, then it's too hot, turn it down, up down up down. Cast iron holds the heat, so you always cook at a lower temperature. Less smokey in your house lol.
Congratulations Dan and Lou on Jake and Lyssa's marriage as well as the pregnancy. I am so excited to meet their new baby (summertime seems so far away)🎉🥰🥰
I remember my Mom and Dad would make breakfast for dinner occasionally and my sister and I thought we were RICH!!! Turns out….it was right before payday and that’s all we had! Still love it to this day!!❤❤❤❤
We thought the same thing when my dad would make each of us 3 kids our own big pancake for dinner. We didn’t realize we were out of other food. We thought dad was spoiling us. And it was probably easier to make one big pancake each for us lol - him being a single father is three.
I've never had chocolate gravy or red-eye gravy and I live in Ga lol. Lou, I almost burned my kitchen down doing the same thing. I used to buy the bath and body works candles and I would only burn them on top of the stove for safety reasons. Well one day I am folding clothes and I start smelling blueberries burning. I threw a wet towel to get the fire out. But it scared the crap out of me. Dan, I'm glad you liked the marshmallow mugs 😂 Honestly, I thought the kids would get a kick out of them too.
Hello Lou and Dan, that chocolate gravy looks yummy. I enjoy watching you all cooking together. You all make it fun to watch you all having a wonderful time together.
Dan and Jake cook the same 😂 lol, Can we please have an episode where it’s just Dan and Jake cooking together because I think that would be hilarious and I would be scared on how everything would come out but it would be a very entertaining episode
In E. Texas we make chocolate gravy with sugar, cocoa, a little flour, water and salt. Boil and reduce to “syrupy” consistency. Pour over hot buttered biscuits. I’m 75 and this recipe was used by my grandparents to raise 8 children. It’s still a favorite around my house. 😁.
I went and visited my grandparents in Arkansas every summer my whole life, and I've never heard of chocolate gravy. Grandma never made it, and she made everything! 🤔 I bet it was delicious!! ♥️
I started doing my bacon on a cookie sheet in The oven and it was so much easier. Less smoke, no getting popped and it's easier to cook all the pieces more evenly. Plus you dont have to stand over it.
I was born in Arkansas raised in Missouri went back to Arkansas spent many years and move back to Missouri and I was raised on chocolate gravy. Really enjoyed the video ❤️❤️❤️
Never had chocolate gravy. I don't like anything on my biscuit. Sounds like breakfast food was a hit. CONGRATULATIONS MR&MRS JAKE MORROW. GOD bless y'all.
I laughed out loud about the biscuits and then again when you had to tell PawPaw and Gigi, your dad cracks me up!! It totally sucks when you light the wrong burner and catch stuff on fire!! I had to go back and rewatch that part after reading Kathleen's comment because I didn't see the smoke at all!! haha!! Dan is so dramatic, made me laugh!!
I Love Chocolate gravy!!!!!! I ate it every morning growing up!!!!!!❤❤❤❤. I. You pour the gravy over your biscuit and cut it up o eat. We would have kids beg to spend the night o eat it.❤❤❤
I never herd of Chocolate gravy . I do like my Breakfast for Dinner. I love your signe about the Lord. Wow Lou don't feel bad about the fire I get them mixed up myself. Glad it did not get out of hand. I love watching yall . I really like it when your family comes over to eat. Just think about the memories your family can look back on.
😂😂😂😂😂 oh my word. What a funny episode. You guys make me laugh so much today. Poor Lou whenever you do something wrong Dan likes to go on about it. But soon Dan you mess up. But Lou don't say anything bad about it. Lou you are an amazing woman. Only you can keep up with Dan😂😂😂
I love these Vids! Food, Family, Fun 💕 I have burned up more than one burner cover, don’t even have them now because of that 😁! Y’all missed A opportunity, chocolate dipped bacon is A big thing, it’s expensive to buy too. So maybe try that sometime. I also love breakfast for dinner, used to be A lesser priced option, not anymore, still delicious though. I’m so very happy for Jake & Lyssa, I think they are A perfect couple, sending them ( have already on their pages, but on here now too) many wishes for A Wonderful, Happy, Blessed , Life Together! ❤️LOVE♥️ OK, looking forward to next week. I will send A Florida ( Jacksonville Beaches) recipe when the time comes. Looking for something I think y’all will all like ( we have great Seafood but I worry that my not be popular with the Family, let me know) maybe something Oranges related, ya know us and our Oranges 🍊🍊🍊🍊 p.s. Congratulations on your upcoming next Grand Baby, so excited for all to come! 💗
Y’all are too funny lol I can’t tell you how many stove covers I’ve burned and chopping blocks!!! I like chocolate gravy. I’ve never fixed it tho. I’m so glad you did this video. I’ll will definitely give it a shot!
Adorable little hats !!! Love a good whoopie pie !! I do the wrong burner all the time and do that very same thing!!! Salty dogs too funny!! No good for high blood pressure! 😱 great dinner round up call!
I love watching you guys!! Pretty funny that Dan’s biscuits were salty. We have all done things like that before! Don’t beat yourself up over it. Lololololo!! I loved Lou’s giggle to your little mess up. You should laugh some more it great to hear. God Bless.
I would like to try the chocolate gravy. It doesn’t sound good, but maybe I’d be surprised. You should try baking your bacon. No smoke. No mess. I line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Separate bacon. Bake at 400*. Start checking the bacon at 15 minutes. It goes from almost done to overdone real quick. I save my bacon grease. It’s very easy to pour off of the baking sheet into my bacon grease keeper. Google baking bacon for more info.
Dan next time i stead of trowing dough away pat it out make fry bread out of it. It works well . Honey drizzled and powder suger sprinkled on it after you fry it is yummy !!!
I love chocolate gravy! I'm down with the flu but once I'm over this, I'm going to make me some! I have everything so why not? Yes, i saw the smoke also but thought the butter was burning somehow. Thanks for today's show! 😂
Cute little Marshmallows ceramics....Personal together will bring a smile to any woman's face....I can cross my fingers....I enjoy watching how yall interact together....I love your different type of shirts that you have been wearing, Lou....That tickled PawPaw that you salted the biscuits....Yall two are hilarious....lol when you blow that bull horn for Morrow Hill to come eat....Breakfast for Supper is yummy
When my kids were little, I made chocolate gravy for their Pancakes, or pound cake. Never thought about over biscuit. Did not know it was an Arkansas thing. I grew up in Southern Idaho.

Chocolate Gravy was a treat my grandma made for us when we were little! She was from Kentucky, so it must be wide spread.
I know we were all sitting here going there's smoke behind you and your both arguing over slamming the Cocoa around 😂 I just love watching you two you made my morning Dan and Lou ❤️

Good morning Ol' Dan and Sweet Lou!! Hope it's not cold this evening sleeping alone!

No matter the meal, no matter the state, your cooking and family will always bring a smile to my face.
Yall have the funniest cooking show I've ever seen. If yall did everything perfectly it wouldn't be as much fun.
True

I always wanted a stove hood that was vented out of the roof.
My Grandma Earp from Arkansas used to come and visit us in Texas. She always make chocolate gravy for us. It wasn't sweet at all but so good! I miss my Grandma Earp and her chocolate gravy.

Best cooking with Dan and Lou….. smoky house and salty biscuits , and good chocolate gravy to top it off. Way to go you two!!🤣🤣😜😛😋
Not sure if I would have liked chocolate gravy, but the rest of the meal looked delicious. Another great episode.
I am originally from Maine but moved to Indiana after my hubby retired from Navy, my Mom made the best whoopie pies.

What a fun episode. I loved so many things about this one.
Lou, I burned so many burner covers that I stopped buying them to put on top of my burners.
I've been there, done that with stove covers. My mom's stove was built into the counter, and the controls were push buttons. We usually went through a set of burner covers every couple of years due to accidental button pushing. I sure do miss her 💔
😂
I watched Jake & Lyssas wedding. It was wonderful! Ya know can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally turned on the wrong burner on my stove. Luckily I have a glass top. 😂 I’m jealous of your cast iron collection. It’s awesome! Ya know I watch all the Morrows across two platforms and I have to say your cooking videos are definitely my favorite. Talking about yourself in 3rd person drives me nuts but you 2 together are absolutely wonderful. I am glad you didn't start a fire Lou 😂❤
Congratulations Dan and Lou on Jake and Lyssa's marriage as well as the pregnancy. I am so excited to meet their new baby (summertime seems so far away)🎉🥰🥰
You two make my afternoon. Make me laugh. It happens.
😂 😂 I did like them. Thank you so much.
Hello Lou and Dan, that chocolate gravy looks yummy. I enjoy watching you all cooking together. You all make it fun to watch you all having a wonderful time together.
My Mammaw always fixed Chocolate gravy with white flour cornbread . The crunchy and chocolate was so good. From NC
Bet the house smells delish! YUMMO!❤❤❤🐾🐾
Dan and Jake cook the same 😂 lol, Can we please have an episode where it’s just Dan and Jake cooking together because I think that would be hilarious and I would be scared on how everything would come out but it would be a very entertaining episode
Not at our house! 😂 it would be a mess!

We grew up around the panhandle here in Texas & was raised on chocolate gravy. We loved it. Gotta put butter on top as well 😉 😂
I was born in Arkansas raised in Missouri went back to Arkansas spent many years and move back to Missouri and I was raised on chocolate gravy. Really enjoyed the video ❤️❤️❤️

That's why I don't use them burner covers. Done it a few times.❤

Separate bacon. Bake at 400*. Start checking the bacon at 15 minutes. It goes from almost done to overdone real quick. I save my bacon grease. It’s very easy to pour off of the baking sheet into my bacon grease keeper. Google baking bacon for more info.
In Canada we would take those salty biscuits and let them dry out, spray paint them black, and use them as pucks!
😂
