I think I'm better beginning to understand why so many people compare Lunasa to the Bothy Band. There are definitely similarities. This was definitely one of the best groups that has ever been.
@richardyingren you know i was just thinking this same thought its really amazing they never even plan how they would arrange their music this is proof of the skill of real irish musicians they just play and feel the way to expressing the tune fantastic!
Thanks Bilko1234 for the amazing collection of music you've posted. I've been playin guitar a good few years now and have only recently fallen for trad.Didn't know where to start but Mícháel Ó Domhnaill grabbed my attention straight away, absolutely love this tune.Anybody out there got any tips on playin it?(on guitar that is)
@omarshinken I genuinely thought you were going to come back with some form of educated reply, instead you play the mother card. Sure sign of someone without the mental capacity to conduct any form of discussion.
@oneofmanykinseys better still just dont play guitar it just dont feel right in this music and i love the bothy band but jesus save me from guitar players
This is absolutely world class. Such pure beauty ❤
It's like speed metal to an Irish folk lover.
I am James Wynne my great uncle was Martin Wynne-- it is great to hear this again and see that he is still relevant today !! thank you
A Sligo man by the sound of the name ?
Very much so! I have been returning to these records endlessly since I discovered them in my early 20's.
All hail to your great-uncle!
Never gets old.
Am I the only one in my 20's still loving these recordings? Pure magic!
spiritual, cleansing, healing music that I am grateful for and grateful I get to play some of it with good friends in the session. Hail!
Absolutely spellbinding chord progression through the A part in the Jolly Tinker (2nd tune)
this is them at their Best!
This is what heaven sounds like in the spring.
The fluency is from many years of practice. The impeccable timing is probably as much inherited as trained.
2nd reel is The Longford Tinker. Brilliant arrangement.
Oh thanks I have been looking everywhere for the longford tinker for school
This is mighty music. I notice that they seem to be giving it more pressure on the rithym section for the second reel.
Pure class! cheery up music for the exhausted..lol
my favourite tune.fantastic

This is the equivalent of a gauntlet being thrown.
Not so many since able to pick it up.
Pure brilliance

I know right? Love that part in particular.

Agree these guys have never been topped. Altan and Lunasa are close behind though...

Ah sure they haven't aged a day. They have the magic.
Paddy is playing so good and here and just as good if not better now
Buchus le dia!
Martin Wynne's with an apostrophe, actually. Martin Wynne was a famous Sligo fiddler.
I always like the old Bothy Band stuff.
Is this the best sound quality?
I wonder why they didn’t make an alboim out of it.
Sounded so great.
As Quoted from another fan... The ACDC of Trad.
... a genius
Is Micheál Ó Domhnaigh an ceann is fearr le Kevin! ^^
Agus is breá liomsa Tríona fósta! Tá sis e chomh galanta is gleoite-álainn-deas!

Does anyone know the name of this extraordinary fiddler?
Kevin Burke. Another Sligo man.
That's the extraordinary Kevin Burke. Check out his album If the Cap Fits, surely his finest hour.
Anybody know the name of the second tune?
@Odiseo2 Kevin Burke
