Watching this in 2024. Thanks for sharing your video. I love the paddle and think I’m going to create my own. Did you spray the lacquer on the paddle before you added the letters? I think I saw your answer to someone else but just confirming.
I did it twice, once before, I added, the letters, and I did a really light layer, after I added the layers I did another layer that was a little bit thicker.
@@sandrabester8530 you absolutely can and should! There are so many fraternities and sororities out there and not enough people making custom products for them. When I did it, it was very fun. I’ve just transitioned into other things and I didn’t want to spread myself too thin. Email me at andthentherewasstyle@gmail.com and I’ll walk you through everything that I did!
I’m so late, but that would be so fun! I’ve never designed for a military sorority, so I’ll definitely have to do my research, but if you were still looking, let me know ❤
Hi Nykiah! I don'tthink I showed that part but yes, I use a lacquer (before I add the embellisments) to the paddle to both make it shine and to withstand wear and tear so it'll last longer! I just started using a lacquer in a spray can that you get at Walmart!
Thanks for making this video, I will use your idea to add pearls as well to the gift paddles I’m making for my sisters. Where did you find the needle to go inside your E6000 glue?
I got this E6000 from Michaels, they had a large selection and some of them had the needles included. I noticed my Walmart didnt have it, but if you go to a Craft store type place with a large selection, you should find it!
I believe the mirror was about 4 inches, I got it from Michael’s and it came in a little baggie with like four mirrors in it so if you purchase it once you’ll be able to make four paddles out of it. I can’t remember the price but I think it was around five dollars
Yes, I always do a layer of primer just to make sure that the paint sticks and that the colors are really vibrant. There is a spray paint primer that I like because it’s so easy to use.
@StinasUGCLife Question??? what’s the paddle width? I purchased an 18” paddle and reduced the size of the large letters to 5”….the paddle itself is really small.
@@renaifortune7640 I believe this is either a 15 or an 18. I purchased it at Michael’s if that helps… but yeah, it’s better to get one of the water ones just so you have a little more space to work with. Hobby lobby has them as well but I think it’s only online.
I actually got some boxes from Amazon that were long and slender and I just wrap my paddle in bubble wrap and slide it in. Works very well and inexpensive.
@@ChadBumgarner I found these at Hobby lobby! I believe they were near the woodworking section of the store. The ones I got or the small I believe 4 inch mirrors and it actually came three or four to a pack.

Hello! I paused my Poshmark because I was getting way too many orders, plus with moving it was a lot! I am still on Mercari so you can find me there. Just look for StinaMarie
You can get your letters from Michael’s, Hobby lobby, but I think if you have the time to spare just order it from Amazon because sometimes they come out a little cheaper that way.
Hi! I got the letters from hobby lobby. You can use their search bar to search for 6 in white letters, and this is what it pulled up. They are a little bigger than what I needed which is why I have them situated in position the way I do but they worked well.
@@patriciawatson2619 Oh congrats to her! Michaels has these paddles for under $10. The paint I used is at Walmart for .99 cents each. You can get the wooden letters from Amazon. Let me know of you need anything else!

Hi there. Is that acrylic paint?
Yes I believe that it is. It works fine but I do use a poly lacquer over the paddle for longevity.
