- London's Museum of the Home traces the evolution of domestic spaces from the 1600s (when "work at home" was remarkably common) to the technological advancements of contemporary abodes. Correspondent Mark Phillips pays a visit, and steps through time to explore how homes have - or have not - changed over the past several centuries.

Love you jane pauley!
Always will.
It would be interesting for a museum like this to also showcase the role socioeconomic status, race and historical events like war/famine/trauma had on the various approaches to home living through time.
True that would add more nuance
This is more about home furnishings than about the spaces themselves.
what's your point
@@blomegoog Maybe this is a good time to think about what architecture actually is. It is not about how you fill up a room but about the configuration of integrated spaces.
@@rr7firefly This isn't an architectural museum--there's one I've visited in Washington, DC in the USA. That's a different sort of facility.
I love domestic history.
If you like this then you should watch If Walls Could Talk with Lucy Worsley as the host. She has separate episodes for the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom.
I wish they would do a story on the evolution of the sewing machine.
Mark Phillips has fabulous hair!
Pretty interesting museum; I love the 60s style, home decor, cars, clothing, family!!! 😍😍
I just love listening to her British accent. Is she up for a spot of tea, and an ear for the Beatles?
Thank you.
In the morning I think I want my home to be a converted skoolie or shuttle bus. By 10 PM all I care about is taking something for knee pain and going to sleep!
Castles stay the same! Homes and people evolve on the regular! We're hoping to visit the Museum soon!
I love this. I’d love to visit this exhibit.
We had that same exact b&w, red JVC space helmet television with chain until it got stolen from our house years ago! 👩🏼🚀
Instagram has made many people’s private homes museums. Many feel the need to show off everything these days to total strangers on social media.
Pretty much, almost all of social media feels that way.
Honestly it’s for the best though. Before social media you’d have to go out and buy decorating magazines to see other spaces. Now it’s conveniently accessible and you can get a wider variety of inspiration, not just the curated spaces of the rich and famous. Plus no one requires you to put your home up on your page so the option to keep it private still exists for anyone who finds it odd.
Nice to watch something you cannot afford
Yet 😉

The irony of the museum of the home when there are so many homeless
That's a bit of a stretch, isn't it? There have always been homeless people. This is a short fluff piece about a museum reopening.
Where’s the home with all the hoarding?
I bet they look like HGTV holmes haha
I hope they use the actual, true old building as part of the showcase.
Do they cover progress through depressions ?
Great piece but the editing was strange - cut her off a lot mid-sentence and left some sentences/sounds kinda floating out there.
i luv the 'we' soz america we dont claim u
strange!

what an insult to those who can't afford to live in an apartment/house. Was that lady wearing a bath robe + Crocks for her interview? We already made virtual reality film/video, just record the dam things and make space for housing so that real people can live inside. Oh... wait, that will reduce their precious property value... and they need a place to hoard their stuffs
Just shut up. Your stupid is showing.
3:35 you know damned well the interracial doll mix on the sofa was virtue signaling at woke, I mean, at work right there.
Its good to be entertained. So we don't see the suffering. And hear lies from the biden administration.
Showcase the Wuhan lab. Or an unedited Joetato interview. Just let him talk. And we'd like to hear about the border from Kamala the Border Czar.
