Zenith 707 - Winding a New I.F. Transformer Coil

  • As you guys saw, mice made quick work of the old Secondary I.F. Transformer Coil and a repair attempt was unsuccessful. I'm winding a new Honeycomb Coil using 10/44 Litz Wire to mirror the electrical and physical properties of the damaged Coil.
    CORRECTION: 10 feet, not 100 feet of the original Litz Wire was used to determine the DC resistance and back into the AWG.

    Don,
    You are worried getting caught with beeswax? That is nothing. I used the oven to cure the spray paint on a lantern once assuming the smell would be gone by 5pm when she got home. It was not gone. I heard about it for 3 days. I was blamed for headaches, nausea, ill-temper, etc..
    I have heard of lutz wire, but I don't know anything about it. I will have to do some reading.
    Thanks,
    Ian

    • @RestoreOldRadios
      @RestoreOldRadios  3 года назад +1

      Ian, I’ve already been caught. I didn’t get my mess cleaned up before she walked in on me. I’m sure that smell of paint had you in the doghouse for 3+ days. LOL The Litz wire was used for many of the coils, especially for frequencies 1 MHz or lower. It has many advantages over solid copper. Thanks again for watching and keep those lanterns out of the oven. Best, Don
