    To avoid the material being "sucked in' at the start you can always use a starter piece of material, kind of like when you chain piece in quilting. Thanks again for all your videos!

    You have incredible skills coupled with incredible patience. A winning combination (for nearly everything)!

    The tip about starting halfway through is SO helpful!!! I struggle with that when I sew with DBP too. I’m going to try this trick!

    I’m currently making the Maya bra and I’m having the same issue with the fabric cups not matching up well with the foam cups. The cups look a bit stretched but I’m hoping they’ll look ok once the bra is on. Thank you very much for this wonderful tutorial!!

    By the way, thanks for the recommendation about needles. Got my kit in the mail yesterday and my Bernina wasn't happy with the microduoplex, at all. Did a test of the needles I have and I was amazed how they all perform so differently! It is not as noticeable with other fabrics. I can definitely see having the right one will make for a more enjoyable experience (and worth the time to figure that out)! Off to track down Microtex 90/14 and give them a try! 😊

    I think I know why you have excess foam. Watchig this, isn't the excess foam because for the fabric cups you have seam allowances, but for the foam cups the pieces are butted up against each other, thus not using seam allowances yet the pieces are the same? So even that 1/4" seam allowance x3 (all 3 pieces) will shrink your fabric cup a little. Just an observation. Great tutorial. Thank you. :)

    This was so helpful ... appreciate you providing examples of how errors can impact things and what to look for. I wasn't planning to do a padded version, should I be making any adjustments to account for that? Thx!

      no adjustments needed, the foam is really thin so it doesn't really affect fit

    Hi there, I am just curious to know how do you make this (Maya) bra without a underwire .

    Hi Liz! I’m planning on making Gertie’s Liz dress, and because we are similar sizes, I think I might also have to reduce the projection on the bra cups. Unfortunately I don’t know how to do that yet, but if you explained it the way you always do, I really think I’d get it! So please, if you have a chance, make a video about increasing/decreasing projection

      Once the Maya tutorial is finished I will have a series of videos for common fit alterations. But basically you just need to flatten the curve of the lower cup pieces along the seam-line that attaches to the upper cup

    How can I cut these parts of cup?

    Firstly thank you for these tutorials, I’m just about to attempt to make my own bra for the first time and these videos are fantastic. I do have a query though. In this tutorial you use foam lining, however, I’m not intending to use foam or any other sort of lining. How do you finish the top of the bra, where you attached the foam and folded it over to form the top of the inner half of the cup. I see what you do with the outer half, using the under arm elastic, but as the tail of this is used to attach the strap, I’m unsure what to do with the other half of the top of the cup? I don’t really want a joint here as I think it would look messy. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Great instruction! What straight stitch length are you using? Do you adjust the tension at all when sewing these fabrics?

    • @LizSews
      @LizSews  4 года назад

      I just use my machines standard stitch length and tension but if you are having troubles getting pretty stitches a longer length or less tension may help

    I’m highly allergic to elastic. Is it possible to make one of your designs without any elastic?

    Do you back stitch the beginning and end of all these seams?

    • @LizSews
      @LizSews  4 года назад +2

      I don't because all the seams in the cups will eventually have another line of stitching that crosses them and will hold it in place
