Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 January 31, 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.
Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon.

Wow! He's talking about the love of many growing cold and the church getting too liberal back then. I'd love to hear what he would have to say about how it is now.

Sadly if you read about his death he was rejected by the growing liberal movement in the church and feared the worst for the future of it. Apparently his concern was not ill placed.

Life is a race that you either learn to persevere through God's word or you take the worldly route. It isn't easy, but I do prefer God's word.
I Praise God for these Meaningful, Beautiful Sermon's of so long ago. In today's world, there's very little Pastors of God's Word's anyplace to be Heard. Bless all the Teams of Good People,Who make sure We are able to learn from Them.
No truer words were spoken unless by Christ....I wish i could have heard this man preach in his days...i so hungered for just this one sermon. I feel relieved and refreshed with confidence that I choosed rightly as a filthy sinner whose goal is endurance to finish this race to its End.

May I encourage everyone to read and re-read another treasure that inspired our brother Charles Spurgeon. That book is titled Pilgrim's Progress by another of God's servants, John Bunyan.
