  • I built this bike in te final stages of my father's life. We loved going to flat track races together to watch and cheer for harley davidson. I finished this bike 2 months before he passed. This video sums up the build and shows the results on the race track.

    Sorry for your loss. We went to a few of the mile races in the early 80's and there is no other sound on earth like a pack of Harleys rollin' the power on out of a turn. The sound of you bike on the straight a way brought a smile to this old mans face. Thanks, nicely done.

    I need handle bars like those on my 2022 Street Bob. It came with 10" mini apes, quite modest by ape hanger standards. You may as well throw counter steer out the window. You have so much left to right leverage, it kills counter steer feel. The mini apes are just awkward.

      It was odd that Eric Buell could get Harley engines to run way better than HD could. Perhaps one of the reasons EB and HD split maybe HD didn't like that. Probably should have had EB run the company .BIG mistake.

    • @mikeskidmore6754
      @mikeskidmore6754 Год назад +1

      @@bultacowally Buell was in bad financial Shape. HD Bought 48% of Buell with an Option to buy 48% more of Buell after 10 years.
      It was not much after 10 years that HD spent $115 Million to shut down the New Buell Factory in Rice Lake and Eliminate 200 American Jobs.
      Buell came out with their own Modern 1125 CC 4 valve head liquid cooled engine built in Austria by Rotax in 2008 .. Nothing like going from 103 HP to 148 HP and 65# Lighter in later years the 1190 made more like 185 HP .. Yes I think HD was Jealous of Buell.
      They could not have huge margins on Buell's because they had to compete heads up with Japanese and European bikes.
      After the Shut down Eric started EBR and was still using left over HD/Buell pars.. had financial Problems and even had a significant Invested from an Indian Motorcycle Company from the Country of India.

    Never liked HD...most are big heavy slow tanks but the XR-750 was an exceptional motorcycle. HD shouldn't have stopped production of them they were the only bright star in the Harley line up. The XG-750 that took it's place has been a dog for the most part as is proven by its almost non existence at pro flat track races now. I know one of the suspension tech guys on the factory Harley team and he even said the same thing. This bike is gorgeous though and one Harley I would be proud to own.
