I haven’t seen this game in over 20 years. It just randomly popped into my head. The nostalgia is LITERALLY wrecking me right now. It’s blowing my mind to see this with an adult eye as opposed to my little boy eyes that I usually saw it with.
This is probably the most nostalgic game for me that isn't considered a "classic." Despite that, and despite its short length, it's surprisingly competent, and super fun to play. Controls are good, damage system is fair, and it's got a charm factor like a handful of other games from this era that are sort of hidden gems. It was also the very first game I ever played on Christmas morning after opening my Sega Genesis, right after Mortal Kombat 3 (yes, I got a Genesis pretty late into its lifespan). Those two games will forever be stuck together in my mind even though they're pretty far apart in terms of style and gameplay. It was the first time I'd really gotten to see full 16-bit graphics and color after years with my NES, so that plus being off from school for the winter break, I felt a kind of joy that I don't know is even possible to experience as an adult. Also, it had a weird way of pulling you into a pretty elaborate, surreal world for a 2D side scroller that didn't have any depth as far as story or game mechanics. Fighting your lawnmower and random mailboxes, going into your neighbor's kitchen and freezer, wandering around in the woods, jumping up construction sites in the middle of the city -- it did that weird thing that some games did during this era where it combined elements of suburban/urban real life settings with super cartoony, surreal scenery. Of course that makes sense given the show it was based on, but because of that and that classic 90's gross-out slimeball cartoon suburbia aesthetic, it will always be associated in my mind with Toejam & Earl (especially the sequel), Earthworm Jim, Boogerman, EarthBound (which I never got to play as a kid), Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and even Sonic Spinball for the slimey Nickelodeon-style sewer level at the beginning.
This honestly feels more like watching an episode of the show than playing an actual video game. The gameplay isn't very long, but each stage feels like a various portion of the episode. I even saw this game played at Game Lab in Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando back in 1994.
Thanks so much for uploading. Brings so much childhood memories. I remember back then when my late sister and I were playing this game and laughing so hard because Stimpy's drooling tongue.
The nostalgia at it’s best! Thank you uploader. I used to have this game on sega and never could get past the monkeys I’d play for hours and give up. I must have been 9/10 at the time now that I just entered my 30s im sure I could beat this game with no problems. 👌💪👍🤜🤛
This is fucking me up in a weird way lol.... I showed this to my daughter last night... she's 9. Probably around the age when I used to play this game... This is so strangely psychological. I kept telling my daughter that whoever was playing this game for the video is a master... because it took me foreverrrrrr to pass these levels.. those damn scary ass giraffes lol omg.
Humor aside, this was a hard game. I remember being stuck FOREVER in the stupid invention level due to the bubble mechanic. I remember being there so long and getting so burned out that when I finally beat that level, i just said "you know what, good enough, I beat that level, I'm done".
@@Renzo-cn4zw I believe Ren & Stimpy, Tiny Toons Adventures, The Simpsons, Batman The Animated Series and Beetlejuice helped and inspired the other 90s cartoons to become more Edgy and Slapstick.
My mom and me used to play this all the time when I was younger .. that was like 20 years ago . Wow the nostalgia is real ! I was addicted to this game
This brings back a lot of childhood memories. This game always frustrated me the most because I could never get past the hippo part. Now it looks easier than I thought 😂 thank you for posting this! Very awesome 👍🏼
I recall as a kid I could never pass the "lab level" as I called it. Just to watch this and realize I was at the final level and kept losing at the dumb light bulbs.
Haha.. I remember my first play through of this, the giraffes terrified me as a kid. I remember playing this before my folks for divorced. What easier times.
My cousin and I rented this game a time or two back in the day; I was probably 6 or 7. I don't think little boy me realized just how fucking frightening those giraffes were. I don't think we ever made it past the part with the hippos.
Ren & Stimpy had pretty average or bad games on Nintendo’s consoles under THQ, but Sega actually delivered two good games based on the IP, this game (despite the issues and the short length, it’s still a solid game and the gameplay delivers) and Quest For The Shaven Yak.
is the euro version shorter or is there a easy mode with less levels? because i remember the flying stage being the last level also at the end they actually sing happy happy joy joy! in the European version
I got at far as the level with beaver when I was a kid. I didn't realize you had to go through the beaver's nose to move forward. I couldn't figure it out, so I just had to turn off the game. Mystery solved.

Exactly what just happened to me
It's those memberberries lmao
Same bruh
You and me both brother! Loved this game as a kid
The shared damage system was a sure-fire way to ruin your relationship with your siblings.
Much more than Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Mario Party ?
@@firemario8126 I think it was the ancient times of ruined friendships

One of the best co-op games in video game history.

Like Truth or Square the game?

Gamer Player I meant the stupid bubble climb inside the invention.
***** oh boy that part is shitty but yeah its the final level so it's okay I guess to be hard.
I played this game constantly as a kid.. I was obsessed with this game. Thanks for the nostalgia!

you usually die a lot and get sent back to the beginning
The animations are so cute. What a little gem!
but this cartoon was crazy & creepy as f*ck
@@Renzo-cn4zw Of course! But it had its moments of cute animation, I think.

My cousin and I managed to get past the giraffes only once or twice before we gave up on the whole game.
Those giraffes scared me as a child 😂
I just found out that the song played in the bicicle level is called 'Sabre Dance'.
The first five minutes was my whole Saturday as a kid. After watching I can confirm I did beat it.
That invention level tho was horror.
