- What if The Star Beast from Doctor Who's 60th anniversary specials had used Murray Gold music from series 1-4 of Doctor Who?
The Star Beast was an episode of Doctor Who that saw the return of David Tennant as the 14th Doctor alongside Catherine Tate playing Donna Noble.
Music used:
The Doctor Triumphant
• The Doctor Triumphant ...
The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble
Donna's Theme
A Pressing Need to Save the World
The doctor should have told Donna about what happened after she left him and also about the face of the 12th doctor
Yeah I would have loved that
Yeah, but rtd was more about making a special about HIM and not the whole show
@@FelipeA81 AGREED. As much as I love Donna the Doctor's life didnt revolve around her loss. He lived another 1000 YEARS post 10th regeneration. And then RTD's solution was for him to retire with Donna to deal with that trauma? He retired with River Song as the 12th for 24 years! He lived on Trenzalore as the 11th, their favourite uncle, for 600years!! But none of that helped him grow and change??
@@terminatrix92 yeah, it just shows how absurdly arrogant RTD really is: he really thinks that NOTHING that happend outside his era is worth more than one single scene to say "yeah those things happened"
@@FelipeA81I couldn’t agree more with this statement. These specials were good but like, it annoys me so much how much he acts like a lot of these things didn’t happen
I started crying with the tardis scene hearing that
Should've used the series 2 "To be continued" credits to build up the hype
It's Crazy just how much an Incredible Score Can Improve a Scene so much
That still worked beautifully!
Very well done
Honestly had me in tears
Isn't some of that Martha's theme
suteck: Not again
Love how the edit of the audio at 3:19 makes it sound like Donna is saying "OH MY GOD FUCKIN' 'ELL"
more like “OH MY GOD IVE FUCKIN DONE IT AGAIN”
I'm surprised that the episode didn’t do this considering it was an anniversary episode
Fits so much better
2:03 most epic coffee reveal of all time.
How it feels to get your coffee in the morning lmao
That was 1billion times better!!! I still stand by the statement that Russell shouldve used way more 2008 themes visuals and music and then he can do whatever he likes after 14 regenerates just to give us that time capsule effect that we were promised
Don’t get me wrong - I liked the 60th soundtrack - but the series 4 score has so much emotional weight
this heals something in me
Ugh this is SO GOOD! It saddens me because, idk why they couldn't just reuse some of the original compositions by Murray Gold - especially considering he's back as the lead composer anyway, I doubt he'd mind. The audio from Season 3-4 really made those episodes SO much better, gave them the life and personality that a lot of recent stuff has missed. Admittedly, Murray's newest work has been good too, maybe it's nostalgia.
That felt like Doctor Who again, brilliant stuff
I think "Be Magnificent" that Jackardy uploaded would have worked nice with Donna with her family, just about to go into the TARDIS.
3:18 Sutekh's gonna be buzzed.
Tbf they've made so much music I do wonder why they don't reuse stuff more
Great job!
hi
Thanks!
THE GOAT 🐐
Can you do one for wild blue yonder and the giggle please?
David tanneanttangential Casino with brad church dot two hoods and other Say jessica jones marvel comics When will the dc comics screw myself
very good and nostalgic
Thanks!
So nostalgic! What song from the soundtrack is being used?
It's Donna's theme, The Doctor Triumphant, The Rueful Fate of Donna Noble and A Pressing Need to Save the World
Better with the episode original music
This has brought me to tears 😢 why didn’t they do this?!?!?!
I struggle with RTD's over-investment with Donna for the 60th anniversary. As much as I love Donna the Doctor's life didnt revolve around her loss. He lived another 1000 YEARS post 10th regeneration. And then RTD's solution was for him to retire with Donna to deal with that trauma? He retired with River Song as the 12th for 24 years! He lived on Trenzalore as the 11th, their favourite uncle, for 600 years!! But none of that helped him grow and change?? Only now can he reset as the 15th Doctor. It just makes the character feel smaller and all those times we one through with the character are de-valued
Valid points. But maybe he needs an Earth-based recovery. Something in the soil here.
I think it's more specific to this Doctor archetype moreso than just the Doctor overall
it wasn't about Donna, it was about the trauma of the Flux event destroying half the universe and Gallifrey being wrecked again. RTD was picking up the scraps Chibnall left behind and trying to give the events some emotional weight on the Doctor's character. Wild Blue Yonder had like five scenes about this, like... c'mon
@@pedro_mab I get that there’s further trauma but in a life as long and complicated as the Doctor’s, why does he revert back to Tennant and fly back to Donna to resolve that trauma after 1000 years of living his life?! Plus 15 lists previous traumas including the loss of River Song and the Time War for why the Doctor needs this break!! My assumption with the Doctor just as a feasible character, is we only see the challenging times, not the times he goes to Barcelona and nothing terrible happens. He does take breaks…. And WHY is still the main question here; the Doctor subconsciously reverted himself back to Tennant, then Bi-Generated, seemingly by accident?? Or on purpose to deal with his issues?? Neither makes sense within the story. Literally other characters explain it to him!!
the in-universe explanation in my head:
the 14th doctor’s incarnation is supposed to resemble a worn-out doctor that’s succumbed to trauma. hence tennant not being clean shaven (compare to tennant in good omens) and his outfit looking familiar, but almost more mature(?) in a way.
why 10th doctor? because of his vanity issues. 14 is supposed to resemble his pride crumbling.
also interesting to note that donna was the most recent companion he was able to see again, aside from the previous tardis crew that had parted with 13. everyone else is gone in some way. donna only lost her memory.
obviously in real life the explanation is that tennant is one of the most well known doctors and RTD is obviously going to write about the era he knows best: his own. does seem a bit weird, but that’s at least my brain trying to justify it in-universe. maybe not the best explanation but hey, it’s doctor who.
From 3:21-3:56 When the TARDIS catches fire, the shocking moment draws in and all hell breaks loose. 😲
Catherine Tates Donna noble never got together with the Doctor and a romantic sense. But as far as friendship is concerned. Yes, they kept saying uh, we're not married. Never, ever, that was like a running gag withat wasn't funny? Not really after a while. That was like I'm funny.
I do wish for the specials they’d given us the 2008 theme/titles. Just for nostalgia’s sakes.
The very last thing the Doctor needs is coffee
Please.. please do more ❤❤ absolutely amazing
This is EPIC. BRILLTASTIC work.
FULL EPISODE NOW
The most epic coffee reveal, love it
tiny little trip - quote of the century
I think it needs more fx when the tardis sets on fire but everything else does fit really well
And john , if she , what did you do😊
i like the audio but it doesnt really work
@user-mu2bj7cf8h you realize dysney isnt as involved as you think 😂
@user-mu2bj7cf8hmore to the point you realise disney were entirely uninvolved for these specials
They should have done this imo.
What music is it at the start
Não combina
Better.
I love this! ❤
This works so well! 😊😊
Love your edit
Omg you even edited the credits !!!
Tbh I think Murray Gold's score isn't as good as he was.
It feels like he's matured and tried to go a bit more subtle but I miss the bombastic feeling that series 1-4 had
@@BenStockdale He's a composer, he's told what feel he wants and supplies it. RTD probably wanted less bombastic music this time around.
