    Some things to note:
    In the bar, Death says "corre, corre gatito" which means "run, run little kitty"
    At the end when Death yells in Spanish he says "por qué diablos fui a jugar con mi comida?!" which translates to "why the hell did I play with my food?!"
    "Hasta la muerte" can be translated to "until death"

      I wonder why they didn't keep this in the French dub; Death still calls Puss "Gatito", but his rant at the end is fully translated.
      Ironically, because French and Spanish share common roots, it wouldn't be difficult even for a French speaker who doesn't speak Spanish to understand what Death says in his rant, whereas an English speaker would have no clue.

    • @sorkaem
      @sorkaem Год назад +15

      @@NoelistAvenger "por qué diablos fui a jugar con mi comida?!" this sentence is actually hard to understand for a French speaker who doesn't know Spanish (like me). This part is the only easy one : "por qué diablos", I am not able to understand the rest !
      On the other one, this one is easy for me : ""corre, corre gatito". But that's because "gatito" is close to how a cat is called in arabic.

    43:54 It's a 2.5D (hand drawn and CGI hybrid) that is characterized by the "skipping" of frames to create intentional choppiness which emulates the aesthetic you would get from comic books and paintings. It was being popularized by Spiderverse and seems to becoming an industry standard for a lot of big animation studios. A nice change of pace from the semi-realistic CGI that DreamWorks has been using for a majority of their films.

      I don't think Genndy Tartakovsky, is getting enough credit for his influence on this current renaissance of 3D animation. The intentionally lower frame-rate effectively replicates aspects of his action animation. Which is largely focused on quick movements between strong defined poses so that the action feels quick but also give the eye more time to take in the key frames of the action. Not to mention his work on Hotel Transylvania and the unreleased Popeye movie, in which he pushed character stretching, compression, and expressions that 'break' the 3d model in ways previously only seen in 2d animation.
      Though he didn't directly work on Into the Spiderverse as far as I know he forged and inspired much of the team and talent at Sony Pictures Animation that did work on that film and that inspiration has clearly been passed to Dreamworks.

Adoption is something relatively few actually understand and can empathize with, which is also why it's often portrayed in a simplistic way in most fiction.

    Guide of words and sentences in Spanish.
    The basic words are:
    Hola = Hello
    Papá = Dad
    Señorita = Miss
    Señor = Sir
    Adios = Bye
    Fiesta = Party
    Leche = Milk
    Gracias = Thank you
    Gato = Cat/Puss (technically, puss would translate as "minino" in Spanish, but we call him Gato con Botas, not Minino)
    Perrito = Little dog/Doggy (Maybe Puppy)
    Lobo = Wolf
    Chiquito = Little one (first name Kitty proposes to Perrito)
    Now, the sentences:
    Hola, amigo = Hello, friend (Puss at the very biggining during the party)
    Mi casa es su casa = My home is your home / Make yourself at home (Puss to the governor)
    No, su casa es MI casa = No, your home is MY home / This is my home, b***h (Governor to Puss)
    Ole frijoles = Holy beans (in reality, ole, or olé, is a Spanish interjection that denotes surprise)
    Corre, corre gatito = Run, run little kitty (Wolf)
    No hablo inglés = I don't speak English (Puss to Perrito the first time they meet)
    ¿Hablas español? ¡Yo también! ¿De dónde eres? ¿Te gustan las siestas? = Do you speak Spanish? Me too! Where are you from? Do you like naps/siestas? (Perrito's answer to Puss)
    ¡Suéltalo! = Let it go! / Drop it! (Kitty to Puss arguing about who should be holding the map)
    ¡Ay! Qué miedo... = Oh! That's so scary... (Kitty when Puss "loses" his arm when in the entrance to the dark forest)
    Perro muerto = Dead dog (Kitty threatening Perrito)
    ¡Quieto! = Stay still! (Kitty to Puss while shaving Puss)
    Vaya con Dios = The Lord be with you (Puss when throwing the stick sword)
    ¡Los voy a hacer a todos alfrombras de baño! = I'm gonna turn you all into bath mats! (Kitty to Goldilocks and the bears after she loses the map)
    ¿¡Dónde fueron ese idiota y su perro?! = Where did the idiot and his dog go? (Kitty while searching for them during Puss panic attack)
    Número nueve = number nine (Puss' 8th life to Puss 9th life XD)
    Bien, muy bien = Good, very good/nice, very nice (Wolf praising Puss during their final fight)
    ¿Por qué diablos fui a jugar con mi comida? = Why the hell did I (go) play with my food? (Wolf when feeling frustrated about Puss' change of heart)
    Sí. Hasta la muerte = Yes. Till Death/See you in Death (when I die) (Puss' final sentence to Wolf)

    Three things.
    1. The depiction of that panic attack is WAY too damn good. This movie handles a lot of things really really well. Myself, and my friend, who suffer from them had to stop the movie a couple times to stop from missing the movie while we were crying.
    2. This version of Death is now my favorite movie villain. Probably of all time. They did such a good job with it.
    3. THE FREAKING ANIMATION IN THIS MOVIE. This movie has no damn business being this good.
    I don't know if this is the official name of the animation style for the actions scenes, but it looks to me like it's using something I've heard recently called "Animating on 2s" where they animate every other frame, and then in this movie's case it looks like they are using a sort of painted brush style to go along with it.

    At the end of their last fight, Death is ranting, "Why in hell did I go and play with my food??". Also, did you notice that the Gatito Blade saved Puss' life twice? The first is obvious, but the second is just as Puss is stomping Death in the face, Death's sickles are closing in from the sides. Without the Gatito, Puss could not have blocked both at once. I'm quite sure that Death would have traded a painful kick for a fatal stab or slash.

    • @mysterygamer3000
      @mysterygamer3000 Год назад +15

      Well also you can't kill Death itself, so no matter what Puss did to him, he wouldn't die or even be hurt really, he could only block his weapons and hope for the best. Death toying with Puss was just hubris on Death's part and him wanting to get pleasure out of taking care of something that had annoyed him for many years. Death can't stand anyone that feels or acts like they can cheat him and get away with it. Puss reveled in cheating death going so far as to make it his catchphrase, so yeah Death was super pissed off with Puss.

  • @pinkishhaven5158

    A little detail I love (among many others): Puss kept his forehead scar after his first fight with Death. Throughout the movie, you can see the scar whenever he takes his hat off. It's something special because it's usual for animated films to only show scars temporarily, even the old movies (the scar magically disappears lol).
    I'm obsessed with Puss and Kitty's relationship. The first Puss in Boots film showed the two being all flirty (Puss was a shameless flirt and Kitty was seductive thief). Here they're so cosy with each other (makes sense since they almost got married) but it makes fans wonder how long or how much the two spent together to have them get to that point.
    Even after their fight, during the final fight for the map, Kitty still grabbed for the map even after she bitterly gave it to Puss. Even if she just didn't want the others get yhe wish, she still probably would have given it to Puss.
    Also my favorite about the excalibur scene

Death is not a nice person, he's a neutral force of nature for everyone besides Puss who pissed Death off so much that he stopped being neutral in this ONE case and actively went after Puss to break the rules and take his life himself before it ended naturally.
      Why is everybody so obsessed with undermining Death's character like this?

      death was most definitely more of an antagonist (simply opposing the protagonist) than a straight up villain (counterpart to the hero actually committing evil deeds), considering death just. is. he's not evil or good, he just exists as a natural part of life. he didn't *need* to come after puss as he did, but as death he understands better than anyone else how valuable life is, and with how puss was just wasting life after life without a care his decision to go after puss in his last life right away himself is naturally born from his own frustration and anger at how lightly both death and life are being taken. it most likely was bending the rules with how directly he was interfering, especially knowing that if puss did not learn a lesson and he just retreated it'd make the whole point void and useless, but it all makes sense. i just love how death in this movie is so frustrated and direct in his approach when he could sit and wait until the next stupid move killed puss for good,

    A Cinema movie is Usually 24 Frames. If you "Animate on Twos" you let the Animation itself run at half of that. So 12.
