- Jack up the car and remove the wheel. Undo the keeper screws and drill them out if you need to. Remove the 17 mm bolts keeping the brake caliper attached and avoid stretching its rubber line. For the front, undo the bracket holding the brake line to the suspension. Loosen any rust by putting WD-40 around the center of the rotor, where it meets the wheel hub, as well as in the screw holes. use a rubber mallet to loosen the rotor. On the front, you can pull backwards on the rotor (where it's not protected by the metal guard) while also hammering into the rotor on the opposite end. Rotate the rotors around and try loosening multiple times.
Thanks for the video!
Any issues with the parking brake? Did you have to pop off the little plug in the rotor and loosen the mechanism?
I actually have the opposite problem. The brake hold system is a tiny bit too loose, so the car will make a groan every 30 seconds while it holds the brakes.
@@faeinthebay Those 2-3 assembly screws that hold the rotors might be needed so there's no movement on the rotor while braking as the pads clamp. Could even cause vibration.
@@faeinthebay do you by any chance know how to release a clamped on parking brake? Would taking the rotor off help?
@@ugcamige unfortunately I don't, sorry
Just borrow the screw that holds the brake hose, and insert them into the rotor screw holes, then turn. Rotor should pop right off
Did you have to put the car in neutral to turn the rear wheels? Great vid. Haven't figured out how to do that yet to move the rotor access hole over the parking brake tensioner to loosen it and remove the rotor. Great vid by the way.
I don't think you have to put it in neutral, but it's recommended. I didn't have to take any precautions for the parking brake, and it's still working fine.
But you didn't remove it.
