Ah, good ol' memories Played this map god know how many hours in multiplayer in highschool, with friends at a lan gaming place. And I remember the grenade rocket jump to reach that hidden place up top in the courtyard
@@Samar3n Quake 2 and 3 still had big active scenes when Q4 was released. The scene was already divided between players who switched to Q3 and players who preferred to stay with Q2 (I'm one of the Q2 guys, btw. Q3 just felt like a downgrade to me). It was a good game but the market was kind of saturated at that point. I'm still hoping for a proper reboot, but the franchise is probably going nowhere with Bethesda in the mix. Quake Champions was total crap tbqh
@@unbekannterbenutzer5998 Quake 3 was like a shiny cartoon with silly characters and soft nerfed weapons. It was a shame they had to release such rubbish and ended up fragmenting the scene. Q3 only became popular as it was the 'latest and greatest' release but was a major downgrade for QW and Q2 players.
Depending on what you mean. If the graphics, then this is my assembly, which is based on the q2pro client by Skuller and Tosher's textures. If it's a multiplayer mod, then it's Battleground v1.38 In any case, you can download the link on the channel page.
Thank you. You can download my q2-build and textures pak on the page of this channel. In the future, when there is time, I will post an updated assembly.
man these guys move the exact same way I used to move and think the exact same way too.... I suppose once you get to a certain level with q2 ability, the 'right' way to play a map really becomes pretty streamlined. especially a relatively small map like q2dm1. ah memories. I miss it.
@@VALIS538 650 units per second (assuming vanilla game rockets) so close - if I did the maths right that is about 20m/s or ~45MPH though with the messed up scale of the game it would be about twice that speed in real life.
It's interesting to see that the skill ceiling increased that much along the years. In the demo, and especially in the video, not all movements are clearly recorded, so you may get the impression that this is a cheat. In fact, this is a good reaction, high skill, flick rail in action.
@@noname_6740 Somehow the slow rockets didn't bother me when the game was new, but now years later it does bother me after playing a ton of Quake 1 using the newest remaster on Steam. I'm sure there were some Quake II servers that had a "fast rockets" mod

Yeah you go into the sky.. such a good map and game.
all the moves like double jumps from boxes to super HP in this map required a lot of practice! good memories
I'm glad these videos bring back good memories.
Yes, there is a dependence on FPS, but you also need to have skill. For example, I still don’t know how to do many tricks.
Insane how a game (at least the first 3) started out as a fun game then into an experience where acrobats and mind readers perform the impossible.

I heard Q4 multiplayer was unpopular for some reason, but I don't remember it being that bad.

How fast is a q2 rocket?
As a Quakeworld player - we usually refer to Q2 rockets as they're flying in sirup... :p

What version of Q2 is this? Clearly not vanilla.
The basis: q2pro client by Skuller and textures by Tosher.
Plus some minor additions I've collected.
wtf is the railgun streak starting at 5:07 wtffff
I like the textures. Can I use them in the Q2 Remaster somehow?
Maybe. The thing is, I haven't played the remaster yet. 🙂
Today I watched the remaster. It looks like there is no support for normal textures by default. Very weird and stupid...
GG,oh man
That’s a funky little mod 😃. Why is there a lady saying “25” from time to time?
The number of hit points is less than 25. With such a sound, it is more informative.
