Hall & Oates are literally one of the most successful musical duos of all time. I highly recommend going dow the rabbit hole.
I never knew why they were considered a duo because that saxophonist crushes it every time.
They are actually the most successful musical duo of time. They surpassed the Everly Brothers
TRUTH!!
Going down the rabbit hole means listening to "War Babies" from 1974...very underrated album...
They are actually #1 duo of ALL TIME.
Micheal jackson told them that he stole their base beat from their song " I can't go for that " for his Billy Jean song. Awesome band!
She's Gone is superb! The more you listen the better it gets! Love it! Wow!
I'm pretty sure you have heard some of their songs. "Maneater", "You've lost that lovin' feeling", "I can't go for that", "Rich girl", "Every time you go away". A lot of their songs are background for movies. They have a very large songbook.
I have to admit, I’m unfamiliar with their version of “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling”.
@@dangabbert3944 Here you go. ruclips.net/video/SXX5OtJJWDo/видео.html. Enjoy
Rich girl is a great song however, spoiler alert, it's a short song.
My memory ain't want it used to be but I'm pretty sure that Every Time You Go Away was a Paul Young hit. Maybe Hall & Pates did a cover and I missed it...
@@anniem169 Young made it a popular cover, but Daryl Hall wrote it and I think they sang it first. ruclips.net/video/Tlz8qHFDbkI/видео.html
Sara Smile has got to be your next Hall & Oates song, also: I can't Go for That, One On One , And Maneater 😎❤
I concur. Next recommended Hall & Oates songs:
“Sara Smile”
“I Can’t Go For That”
“One On One”
“Maneater”
yep, definitely "Maneater" :-)
All of them...a wonderful rabbit hole bit you must see their official vidoes...they are great.
I was actually named after the song Sara Smile. It was my mother's favorite song so she named me Sarah. She added an H to my name because she thought it looked prettier. lol
My favorite duo ever
THEY DON'T MAKE MUSIC LIKE THIS ANYMORE!!! SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU TWO EXPERIENCE WHAT WE GREW UP WITH!!!!
John Oates (dark hair) wrote this as he was going through a difficult divorce. One of my favorites of theirs, along with Sara Smile.
All I ever give you is a straight truth…… These guys have one of the most incredible catalogs in the history of rock 'n' roll. Go down this rabbit hole it is well worth it.… By the way, I cannot explain to you how difficult it is to sing a duet like that, and although their songs are that way. In that sense no one is even close to them.
I love Hall and Oates! This song is from the seventies but they had a huge career in the eighties! They are blue-eyed soul at its best!! 💖💖
Good choice to start with. Grew up on Hall & Oates. Great memories and yeah Sarah Smile next please.
Daryl Hall has been called blue eyed soul along with other white singers through the years for their soulful voices Check our Bobby Caldwell. This duo was highly influenced by R&B and their music has broken many boundaries. Love them !
Side note, "Daryl Hall and John Oates are, officially, the biggest selling duo in the history of popular music. Their career together has produced 18 studio albums - six achieving multi-platinum status - and clocked up six US number one hit singles. They have sold over 40 million albums worldwide, been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and have been awarded their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."
duo? I wouldn't call them a duo. John was mostly a backup singer.
@@deangoings everybody called them duo tbh
“Duo” isn’t a term that means two lead singers.
3 times that many top20
@@deangoings They co-wrote virtually all of their material as well as singing and as had been noted "Duo" doesn't mean two lead singers, just two singers.
What a great duo, they have so many great hits out there. Daryls voice is like butter, so smooth.
I want you both to know how much genuine happiness I feel when I watch y’all react and appreciate these old songs from my childhood. I smile so BIG! Love you!!!!❤❤
Hall & Oates have an incredible catalog of SMASH HITS! And Daryl Hall has what some have called the best music show on the internet...'Live From Daryl's House'. He gets famous musical guests from multiple genres (Smoky Robinson, Train, Ceelo Green, Joe Walsh, The O'jays, etc, etc ,etc) to duet with him and his awesome band, on their songs and his, It's AWESOME!!
"Sara Smile" was as Big a Hit as this or bigger. Another smash hit in the late 70s. These guys were flat out Gold.
Can see from your faces that you loved listening to this beautiful song, your both right in what you said, although there is sadness from the split up of a partner you have to carry on, as life is to short, but sometimes it just takes time to get your life back on track again, most of us have been through this situation in our lives.
Here is a little did you know about Hall & Oats.
They are the only music group in Music History to have song #1 on the Billboard Top 40 and #1 on the R&B Charts at the SAME TIME!
Yes the R&B Charts. And their also one of 10 White Bands that made several Appearance on Soul Train when the show was being done from Chi-Town. There music was all ways found in the R&B section. And the Song Man Eater is the vibe for M Jackson to record the song Beat It... Love that Philly Sound....
You Make My Dreams Come True❤️
I saw them at a festival ten years ago-awesome live!
I’ve seen them in concert they were just Amazing! The great sounds of Philadelphia! My favorite song and group in the 70’s Baby!❤️
So glad that I subscribed to Asia & BJ. I like their vibe and song selections. Hall & Oates are one of my all-time favorites…period.
I love Asia's reaction to this song, looking pleasantly surprised at how cool it is.
This was the first song of theirs that I fell in love with as a teenager, I'm 59 now and still listen to it and sing!! Loved your reaction and appreciation of good music!!! God bless! ❤🙏
I admire how loyal they are to each other. They never quit the team.
It's called MUSIC! Played (and sung by) actual MUSICIANS and vocalists demonstrating 'MUSICIANSHIP'!! Outside of Jazz and Blues (some Rock/Country genres ), it's been MIA the last 35-40 years. I'll leave it at that. Glad someone turned you on to Hall and Oates. This one song was what ALL of FM radio used to sound like...24/7. These were 'typical' "BANDS" played on the radio -- before the DECADES of turn-tables, 'looks-ism', 'sampling', and 'gimmickry' took over the MUSIC and radio industries. Will share your channel. I enjoy seeing younger folk discover this type of music . Peace
True, that. All that.
They are the biggest selling music duo in history I believe. So many classics. Kings of "Blue Eyed Soul".
Good memories listening to that song. Thank you for that. They were such a great duo. They always delivered.
Wonderful song that brings back many memories as a young kid. Loving that bass and Sax
This song is great on so many levels. Right in the feels.
They call their sound Philly Soul
Blue Eyed Soul ❤️ from Philly; their talent is amazing . You sound great, Asia!
Asia & BJ. The funny thing is this was a B-side that a rock and roll station played late night and a R&B DJ heard it and decided to play it on his slow jams and the song jumped up the Soul charts. Which is interesting because their roots were in R&B growing up in Philly…
I grew up with this music. I really enjoy seeing ppl enjoy the oldies but goodies.
I was in 8th grade when this song was new, and I liked bands based on loud ass guitars. But this one sure got my attention. Glad to see it’s reaching you too! Can’t go wrong w these guys.
Daryl does a show called Live From Daryl's House. Originally done at his home studio, then moved to a small club in his small town in upstate New York. Musicians show up and they do some of each other's tunes.
Yeah, throwback to old R&B! You hit the nail on the head. Hall & Oates cut their teeth on such music mostly out of their hometown Philadelphia.
Daryl did most of the songwriting for the duo but this one is strictly from the pen of John Oates. I think it was the follow-up to the initial success of their opener hit, "Sara Smile." John as songwriter expertly captures the mood of losing at romance. In fact, I think he wrote it while breaking up with a woman and was himself feeling pretty blue.
Meanwhile Daryl was doing fine with his new and (eventually) long-term relationship with Sara.
I guess John's pain at his loss paid off after all.
I remember years ago 20/20 did a story about Hall and Oates and referred to their music as the sound of Philadelphia. 😊
Sarah Smile was about Darrell's girlfriend, but this Song is about Sarah's sister who was a very important person in Darrell's and John's life sadly she died of cancer😔
“Las Vegas Turnaround,” (‘73), “Sarah Smile,” (‘75), “Rich Girl,” (‘76), “It’s a Laugh,” (‘78)…That should get you started!!!
I envy your journey down the “rabbit hole”…but, I got to live it, first hand!!! Enjoy.
mostly a metal head but I have always loved R& B & love Hall & Oates. grade school I had Hall & Oates along with my AC/DC etc
In the words of Boys II Men.
Motown Philly back again.
❤ Boys II Men
They have many many hits. They are the top selling duo i think of all time.
Love seeing new people find Hall & Oates for the first time.
"Maneater" "I can't go for that" "Sara smile" "Kiss on my list" "Rich girl"
"One on one"
A few hits from this blue eyed soul duo from Philly....Let's go!!
Ever listen to "blue eyes soul?" You have know haha. Hall and Oates were a hit making machine with many great songs spanning multiple decades. Enjoy!
Many people say Daryl Hall Is is one of the great souls singers of all time. They have a heavy motown influence. You guys should check out more of their music I think you will enjoy! Thanks for the video!
After “Sara Smile” from this fabulous duo
AMBROSIA - Holding Onto Yesterday
Oh you won’t know which way to feel it’s simply, one of greatest songs recorded
It’ll get to each of you in different ways
I can’t go on enough about that song
AMBROSIA has numerous hits
The song “How Much I Feel” would be fabulous 2nd listen 🌙☺️✌️🎶🌸
I was in school when Hall & Oates hit big. Was and still is a favorite of my Mom. Definitely should here"Sara Smile ". Love you guys reactions.
Their best song….written/recorded in ‘73..released in ‘74…re-released in 1976…then it was a hit…their best…period.
I always loved how with this song, they kind of snuck Darryl's vocals into the main chorus. Like they built the first verse as if it was going to go into a chorus, but then backed off and went to verse 2 and just tore out with it.
Just found your channel and really glad I did. Y’all are a joy to watch.
You will enjoy all of their catalog. Sara smile, Maneater, You make my dreams come true.
Hall & Oates was from Philly & successful in the 70's & 80's with lots of hits. They still tour here & there, I think the just played Denver. Daryl Hall has had a show on Axs TV for awhile called Daryl's House, where he has musicians from Cee Lo Green to Joe Walsh come to his house & play music. Theirs & Hall& Oates' music, then he feeds them or the musicians cook. Great show worth watching. Listen to "Man eater" please, 80's style. Thx.
I still have this vinyl!😁♥️ You should dive into Daryl's house. He brings in other artists and sings with them with a GREAT band. Off the cuff!
Hall and Oates had so many hits! Do yourself a favor and check out some of the Live from Daryl's House collaborative arrangements on these songs. Amazing unique sounds.
One of the greatest r&b of all time real blue eyed soul 😃
Check out Hall and Oates "Sara Smile" easily on par with "She's Gone" "Sara" might be their most popular song ever! I promise you will love it!
***********Straight Outta' Philly & Leading the wave of blue eyed sould HALL & OATES is the Best Selling Duo, with 29 of Their 33 Singles Charting on BILLBOARD.
Thanks guys, that was an excellent reaction! Just grab their Best Of Hall and Oates and continue, you will not be disappointed. Thank you!
Loved the reaction! Watching you two appreciate this great music is refreshing!
Hall & Oates came out of Philly. They were influenced by groups like the Temptations. Philly R&B. The main vocalist is Daryl, the tall blonde. The deep voice is John Oates. Check out, if you haven't already, I Can't Go For That or Sara Smile. Daryl has a show on You Tube called Live at Daryl's House. There's a great version of I Can't Go For That that Daryl & Cee Lo Green do together. Daryl's House is basically one big jam session.
Thx! Hall & Oates are definitely R & B! Plus more! -Terry
It's called Blue Eyed Soul. They have 6 #1 hits. They are the biggest duo in music.
Hall and Oates has hits upon hits!!! Need to do more
Love Asia's beautiful smile!
These guys are great! “Kiss on My List” is my favorite song from H&O. Love your reactions. 🌺✌️
My favorite Hall and Oates song.
Rich Girl and Sara Smile are a must listen!

My favorite blue-eyed soul music! Their 70’s and early 80’s stuff is the best! Rich Girl, Sara Smile, Wait for Me, the hits just keep on coming! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
RICH GIRL And SARA SMILE Both 70s songs ,,
This is one of my all time favs. And I don't have a fav anything~!
This is a song about someone who will never recover from a lost love and will simply try to go on living
Sadly, I can relate
It is the ultimate compliment, to the wonderful African-American race, that is completely responsible, even though there were people before him, Louis Armstrong came along at the time of recording and showed where American music regardless of the genre that was to follow country R&B rock and roll hip hop Etc when he came to the Lincoln Gardens in 1923 to join his mentor Joe Oliver. Play the opening lick West End Blues. To this day some people consider the 1928 recording of that song is the most perfect 3 minutes music ever recorded. Now back to my point Louis Armstrong prove to that moment, the American Music was going to be three things regardless of the genre number one, it was going to be a soloist art. Number to that the blues were going to be the life in the blood of American music regardless of the genre. And number three and most importantly, he changed modern time created swing. He created improvised singing listen to heebeegeebeez. So remember enclosing, black Americans created American Music first. And everybody else is always followed and what a listed followed. I love all American music the good stuff to my dying day
Asia, I've watched a bunch of your reactions with BJ and I didn't realize you could sing until when you did at the end of this song. Seems like you've got some good pipes too, BJ
Welcome to Blue-eyed Soul! 😎
Check out their songs: Sarah Smile, Rich Girl, Adult Education, and The Method Of Modern Love.
"blue-eyed soul", nothin else like it!
Daryl Hall also has a series called Daryls House, live music sessions collaborations with various big names in the music industry which are really good as well
Blue eyed siul...monsters!! Daryl has a cast of live music from his home. Must find!!!!
Great reaction. When you have time, please check out some of the Darly's House vids. He gets other artists to come join him and jam at his home studio. It's fantastic.
That whole album is a 10.
Blue eyed soul. They were the bomb in the 70s and 80s
You should hear the original from the group Tavares Hall and Oats did it justice too😊
Asia, you have a fabulous voice, bravo
Yesss... the 70's soul‼️
We use to call this music Philly Soul. Not sure why. They are just so good.
When he mentions the thing about the toothbrush. That hit me hard because the same thing happened with me and all I could see was her toothbrush left in the bathroom. I left it there hoping she'd come back. Or just to remind me of her.😥
Sara Smile is my favorite song from them. This is my second one.
Hall and Oates ....
Best music in the WORLD!
There are a lot of hits to hear and Daryl Hall has a show. Maybe you should check it out!
Philly Soul right here! One of their best grooves, for sure. Check out SARA SMILE.
Hope you check out Hall & Oates "Sara Smile" Daryl Hall is amazing on this one!
Sara Smile is my favorite Hall & Oates song!
Daryl Hall wrote this shortly after his divorce. Like most artists he pulled from personal experiences in life. Besides lead vocals he also played keyboards and sax.
Sara Smile is the best one. For slow grooves. Such a BOP!!!!
Never tire of hearing this
Their music is call "Blue-Eyed Soul".
Sarah Smile, Rich Girl, and I Can't Go For That should be your next Hall and Oates reaction 🙂
If y’all haven’t heard Sara Smile by Hall & Oates it’s a great song
This is favorite Hall and Oats song
Love the Prince shirt. Is that a sign that you are watching his Super Bowl halftime show today.🤷♀️😬☔️
