- Who will get more points this season, Mitch Marner or William Nylander? Who will get more starts, Joseph Woll or Anthony Stolarz? Can Auston Matthews score more than 55 goals this season? TSN's Bryan Hayes shares his thoughts on this and more as he looks ahead to the Maple Leafs' season.
I'm going to Detroit to see the Leafs - Red Wings game tomorrow. I will give you my opinion afterwards, for what it's worth.

One thing's for sure - that barring injuries, Marner will roll. Contract year. I figure JT will, too.

-Mitch outscores Nylander. Assuming both healthy, Nylander gets 90ish pts and Marner gets 100ish.
-Matthews scores ~60 goals. The league is higher scoring now than a few years ago. F'n Zach Hyman had 54 and Sam Reinhart scored 57!
-Woll definitely gets a longer leash so more starts if everyone stays healthy. We'll likely see some injuries so wouldn't be surprised to see a few starts by Murray or Hildeby.
-Mitch stays. Contract 1/3 of the distance higher than Nylander's towards Matthews'.
Willy hits 100 points this year
And Toronto will get sunshine and 27 degree weather all fall and winter. Candy and cola will fall from the skies and there will be peace upon the Earth.

Predictions at this time of year are fun but they're worth less than pocket lint.

Nah, I still think Matthews will get 60 goals easy this season.
70 is unlikely (no one since Brett Hull, Gretzky, Mario could put up those goal numbers).

They win the division and beat the wildcard sens in 6 then they beat the defending champs in 7
And then they lose in game 7 to the wildcard bruins in OT
Ouch. That would be even more painful. I just don't want to lose to the Bruins or Habs in the playoffs. Thankfully the Habs won't make the playoffs in the next few years with their horrendous drafting.

Hayes is a big mouth fake who always has only negative things to say about NFL players and NBA players and only positive thing to say about NHL players , he definitely has a problem with black athletes. He got mad at LeBron James for being too ambitious, and was so personally upset when Raptors decided to retire Vince Carter number. He compares what happened to the golfer to what happened to Tyreek Hill, not even close. Tyreek was drag from his, thrown to the ground, handcuffed and humiliated. Just admit Hayes you have a race issue with black players. I’ve watched him on leafs lunch to now overdrive so I know what I’m talking about. Also he’s so hyped like someone on cocaine.

Not that im pulling for him to exceed expectations in the regular season... but, Marner will likely score over 40 and finish with 110pts. Why? CONTRACT YEAR.
Wouldn't surprise me if Tavares finishes with more goals than Willie too! Why? CONTRACT YEAR & to shut the people up saying, hes washed up and should be a 3rd line center.
