Fijian Prime Minister officially opened the newly renovated Queen Victoria School.

  • Prime Minister Hon. Voreqe Bainimarama today opened the revamped Queen Victoria School.
    The revamped Queen Victoria School was rebuilt by the Indonesian government under the Fijian government’s “Adopt a School Programme”.
    Re-opening QVS today, PM Bainimarama said that he wanted to speak directly to the many students throughout Fiji still awaiting the reconstruction of their schools.
    “11 months ago, our shores were ravaged by the most severe Tropical Cyclone to ever make landfall in our hemisphere - Tropical Cyclone Winston.
    “It has been a huge task, as rebuilding any of our schools can pose complex challenges.”
    “As we gather here today, we cannot forget those many Fijian students in affected areas whose schools have not yet been rebuilt --those students who are still waiting for their own day of celebration. That day will come.”
    The head of government has also assured those children and their families that government will not rest until these students are back learning in the modern functional school buildings that they deserve
    Also present at the event was the Indonesian Ambassador to Fiji ,Dr. Gary Rachman Makmun Jusuf and Minister for Education, Dr Mahendra Reddy along with parents, teachers and community members that live near Queen Victoria School.
