    Wow, Dave those boots were thirsty! Soaked it right up. After a good oiling I usually warm up my boots by the wood stove then put a coat of Snow Seal on them to really nurture and protect the leather. Then kind of wipe off the waxy residue. Good stuff!

    Thanks for sharing your new project. I just did that to a pair of boots I ordered while I was up in Alaska two years ago. Unfortunately I didn't take care of them and they were pretty dried out but I bought some Snow Pruff and rubbed it in and used a blow drier on high and melted it in that way. They look pretty good. I might be able to see you up there next summer, I'm going to Kenny lake to visit my son and his wife and my grand kids.

      After doing this video....I think it would be better to buy a new pair actually. The soles are 100% leather and they will conform to your feet......ONCE. So they are conformed to the last guys feet forever and will never feel right on your feet.

    I just received a pair of White's boots that were advertised as new but I noticed the leather looked old and dry and was starting to surface crack and the shoe lace hooks and holes are corroded. When I looked at tag on the advertised as New White's Boots the manufacturing date was 12/17/14 it is currently 8/31/21, be careful on eBay.

    I have about a 25 year old leather coat that is finally starting to get a bit worn, I simply love the thing and it fits me perfectly. I have been thinking of doing something to condition it as it's just now starting to show some cracks (not bad for 25 years of non-stop cold weather use, eh?) but since I didn't know what to use, I have just been letting it slide. Now I know to use mink oil, which I've heard of but didn't know anything about. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks! Oh, and I'm still really digging that hat!

    i'm surprised you're wasteing time on boots like that. i worked for 40 yrs as a lineman at the power company and wore a lot of different kinds of boots and i saw alot of the boot companies go way downhill over the years. some of them started putting out boots that would last maybe 2 months and if you're on your feet all day they sucked. over the last 15 years we started wearing vasque hiking boots that were really solid and held up until the vibram soles would crack. heard of whites boots but never had a pair. we didn't really see them in the states. most of the american boots started to be made offshore like where ever and real junk. good luck with the project.

    • @steveperry1344
      @steveperry1344 4 года назад

      @@Bushradical a lot of it is junk, as far as warmth the best real cold weather boots were the leather boots with rubber bottom and the thick wool felt lining. it could be well below zero F and no problem and the feet don't sweat but i can't remember the name. synthetic insulation made my feet sweat and then you're done. another thing i did for cold was sprinkle pepper inside the boot, i know it sounds weird but it does work.

      @@robbrown6495 its a very Christian attitude to have. Its sad to hear someone with such a knee jerk reaction to the term "Lord Willing". Just those words made you mad enough to comment....( and "switch off")...having an outlook like you obviously have is a sad thing. I dont know what led you to feel that way but it makes me feel sorry for you. Thats an honest reaction.

      Secondly I neither need, nor want you to feel sorry for me. I'm not the one who feels the need to throw my religion out there.
      Thirdly what makes you refer to my comment as a knee jerk reaction?
      I simply said I switched off at "Lord willing".
      The arrogance of faith!

      @@robbrown6495 you made a specific point to tell me in 6 words that you were done with me for saying "Lord willing". You went out of your way to make that comment. To let me know how you felt ( which was negative) about one single phrase i spoke in this video. Thats pretty "knee Jerk" if you ask me. Not knowing you personally, i would guess you are bitter by your choice to make that statement. ....then you end your latest comment "the arrogance of faith" ...sounds pretty bitter.
