Heathers is a musical with music, lyrics, and a book by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy. It originally had a readings and eventually a concert on September 13 and 14, 2010 at Joe's Pub.
The song "Dead Gay Son" is sung by the father of a jock whose murder was, as in the film, framed to look like a gay suicide pact.
"My son's a homosexual, and that don't scare me none, but now I love, love, love my dead gay son."
This father learned to accept his son, and sends this message of tolerance.
