It's very typical of DJI to sunset hardware and software platforms after a few years, usually five. Had to sell my M600 over it, jumped over to Ardupilot and haven't looked back since.
I'm going to miss it, Rich. I used it more than anything else. Just so happens that I recently bought an Android tablet so I will check out Drone Harmony. I'll see you in the Sunday morning group and on Discord soon. Just about done with the project that has taken over my life! lol. Thanks for sharing.
The alternatives Map pilots pro, drone harmony, pix 4d and the like do not allow you to fly the mission, am looking for software that allows to fly the mission, this was a great function of GS pro.
For the moment GS Pro is still usable for us. But with DJI's notice we know that at some point the app will reach end of life. Right now, keep using it as you normally do. In my case I also have Map Pilot Pro and Drone Harmony as fall backs. I like a lot of the features in Map Pilot Pro and Drone Harmony. I understand what you're saying on the ability to fly the mission. I don't know of any others (at the moment) that offer that. I've asked my Patreon community to share their favorite flight apps. I'll be compiling a list of alternatives, and we'll do some more videos in the near future on replacement apps for GS Pro.
As I’ve learned from learning all of this on my own before finding you, it seems DJI wants people like us to use their enterprise drones for “enterprise” work as they’re calling it. It is very unfortunate… I think from their eyes we’ve lucked out being able to go as far as we have without them.
For my work I need to repeat flights often. And to do that I need to depend on the apps I select for the flights. If an app "goes away" it means replanning flights and the possibility things wont match up from app to app. I'm thinking for larger sites in the future I'll be on Drone Harmony's platform.
Yeah I've been getting that feeling too. It really seems as though they want us to either get the p4p rtk or the m300. I know for a lot of people that's not an option :-( Those two drones are also far less versatile than the good old Phantom 4 Pro...
Software support, along with DJI unlocking issues on where I can take off from after getting FAA approval when needed is why I made the switch to Autel drones. Autel has a mapping mission app pre-built in the app, which I find works really well for what I need.
Not long ago a friend recommended a new mapping application. Ground control by Measure. In addition to the app for data acquisition they also do processing with the pix4D engine. Like maps made easy, measure ground control also offers a limited processing option that is free.
When setting up your flight, in the Basic editing mode you will see "Shooting Angle". You'll want to select course aligned. That will do the trick. There are 3 options. Parallel to Main Path, Perpendicular to course, and Course Aligned. Unfortunately DJI is no longer supporting Ground Station Pro. Although I'm still able to access it on my iPad.
Great question. I just popped over to the DJI Terra page to see about drones used with it. It appears to support the Phantom 4 Pro, and several additional flavors of that drone. The RTK unit, Phantom 4 Pro V2, Phantom 4 Pro +V2 and Phantom 4 advanced. I'm not seeing any other drones on the list. I have to be missing something on the page. I see pictures of other drones, just not hitting a big list. www.dji.com/dji-terra
I picked up my "Mini 4" back in 2017. Several months ago I bought a replacement iPad as the Mini 4's battery was at its end of life. Now I'm regretting that purchase. Ah well, that's the tech machine, always racing ahead.
Rich hi, i am a heavy user of GSpro so this news is not good for me . i have tried looking for software that allows you to fly the mission as GS pro did, i cant seem to find one, do you know of one?
I've always said I like certain features of GS Pro, Drone Harmony, and Map Pilot Pro. I've often wished that one flight app would have all of the features I need. Going forward, I'll be using Drone Harmony for my larger sites, and Map Pilot Pro for the smaller acreage sites. As I noted in a previous comment response here, I'll be getting a list of other flight apps to test, and sharing here on RUclips. In the meantime, GS Pro isn't done yet. Who knows how long DJI will take to end the app. So keep using it until they drop it. :)
There are some apps that are "free". Often demo versions or "hobbyist" versions can be found for free. But once you move into the commercial realm? Drone Harmony for instance is Andorid app (and website planning too). They do offer a "recreational version," but a lot of the higher end tools require payment. The Mavic Air 2s is listed as supported by Drone Harmony. Here's the link on that. droneharmony.com/docs/mavic-mini-2-mini-se-air-2s/
I’ve recently noticed that using a p4p v2 with gspro, the camera no longer auto focuses. Now to find another app with the same camera controls.
Sorry to hear that. I haven't even tried GSP in a while. I know they're no longer supporting it, and that's a shame. Was a good flight app for my M2P
@@AZ-Drone yea its not worth emailing dji as I probably wont get a response.
@@kizzjd9578 Any updates? Do you still use GSP? Or what app did you wind up using?

I have Ardupilot up on my screen now. Looks like some reading is in my future. Thanks for sharing this with the channel!
what other app can i use to fly a phantom 4 multispectral drone?

Some good advice Rich, as always.
Glad you enjoyed it. I'll be sorry to see GS Pro go.

"Gimbal Pitch" under Margin isn't shown on my app for some reason, any one know what this means?
Not sure off the top of my head. With Ground Station Pro no longer supported by DJI, I haven't setup new flights in quite a while with GS Pro
Do you know how to force GSP to fly the Mavic 2 Pro forward on each route - for some reason it doesn't turn around 180 as it goes on the next path.

Do you think DJI are going to start promoting dji Terra, with Ground Station pro being stopped?

Are these alternate mapping programs free like GSP is? Dronedeploy doesn't work for me on an Android tablet with my P4A. Do any work with Air 2s yet?
