Of course when he regained good use of his leg he would take full advantage of returned mobility. It's all the more tragic that he loses it again later.
This scene actually inspired me to start running back at college. 10 years later I’m still at it. Running made me stronger and for that alone I’ll never forget this show

It's where House and Cameron are having a disagreement and House says "you've forgotten about one thing, I can do this now!" and comically runs away trying to beat her to the patients room. He would have a wife to support him, but he still finds relief through the various drug-addictions that had him lose his leg to begin with. His wife leaves him due to the drug addiction, and he is left miserable and even more handicapped without the opportunity of reviving his leg like in this video. He'll always regret the people who pushed him to lose the leg. What we're talking about are variables mixed with unpredictable outcomes; so yes and no on your conclusion to my question.
I wish the show had ended with House getting the courage to do what should have been done from the beginning, chop of that leg. That damaged leg was literally the weight that kept dragging him to the bottom.
I think that house became a bit more accepting of his current medical condition so that whenever he might be required to do anything physically strenuous he might take cadamine to allow him to walk properly for a period of time he might go on a athletic performance diet and whenever he might require he'll take the kind of mean and you'll walk which is actually pretty cool by the way it's kind of like Professor x in men taking the serum to allow him to walk properly for short period of time. Or how a person who suffers from cognitive impairment takes a brain treatment drug and is able to think and even Excel and thinking processes for a few hours allowing him or her to even out think most people in a room and when the drug wears off she or he goes back to being unfortunately impaired

When I watched this episode last month. It inspired me to put Feel Good Inc on my MP3 player and go for a run at 3 AM in the morning. Verdict: I can't run for more than a minute without wanting to die. It was a good experience though. I wanna get more active. Sad a guy with a cane can run longer than I can.
EPrimeify if you want to build cardio fast and generally lowerblood pressure, try interval training. I reccomend the elliptical machine at a gym. Start going full tilt for a minute, then 30 second break. Once that gets easy, up the time at full tilt to 1:15, then 1:30 etc. Do it for 20m to 30m. Time goes by fast than just running too.
Thanks for the advice. When I was about 14, I used to go on the eliptical we had at home, listen to "Harder" by Kanye West and just give 'er. I would go hard and not stop until the song was over. At the time; probably not a good idea, but it was the first time I felt the effects of working out. Doing it every day I would feel I was able to run faster and longer and better.
I can't imagine finding myself without pain. The 2hrs I got one time made me cry like crazy. The funny part is I have has pain so long that I don't notice it until it reaches the point that I can't do anything. Feeling no pain made me realize how much it affects my life.
In a way, I can understand. I didn’t realize how severe my anxiety problems were until I got drunk for the first time, and it suddenly was gone. It suddenly felt like I could BREATHE. Like something was no longer strangling me from the inside out. Since then I’ve battled with alcohol abuse, as well as various forms of mental health treatment trying to correct it. Or at least help it.

An amputation might have resulted in just as much residual pain, if not more (thinking of the Vietnam vet amputee neighbour), with possibly less mobility. I think it's also implied that, while House does have pain, he also relies on the Vicodin for a lot of non-physical issues, like losing Stacy, his general loneliness, his frustration with and boredom at what is to him a very stupid and predictable world, etc. So even if he was pain-free physically, he'd still have a lot of issues.
It's easier than you'd think, unfortunately. Lots of people (mostly poor & racialized) live in "food deserts", ie. places that have no accessible grocers, so the only food available is cheap and processed, meaning little to no vitamin content. Also, while the price of processed foods may have declined, the price of fresh fruits and veggies has been climbing way over the rate of inflation for some time, and seems to be accelerating. The estimated number of undernourished people in America is staggering, even though empty calories are more available than ever.

I'm actually doing ketamine treatment for chronic pain in my feet and legs and it works when nothing else does :) mine usually wears off in about a month but I keep going back for "booster" treatments that's what most chronic pain patients do. ... I also just got out of the hospital after needing lung surgery for a pleural effusion 😂 man this is MY episode lol
@@Stuart267 it can be, depending on how much is given and what kind of other medications you're taking. Usually they do it every month only for like the first 3 or 4 months then they spread it to 2 months then 3 then 5, and so on until it has changed your brain function for good. There are a lot of patients there who go once a year.
i can relate to this, needed surgery on my knee and at that point i took my legs for granted so i ran 5 miles a day before, 6 months later and back to running :)
You can totally relate to this. I'm sure everyone would do the same. First thing you do when you get your legs back after years or pain and inability to walk normally, is to run as much as you can.

0:39 I felt empty and numb my entire life. One day I decided to exercise. I hate exercising, I really, really do. Even to this day, I wish I could get away without doing it honestly. But I stuck with it. I continue to stick with it because after around 8 weeks I felt it. I felt the smile at 0:39. I realised everything felt lighter, my mood, my body, I was more energised. Something clicked. I felt...alive. Even though I wish I didn't have to force myself to exercise consistently, that feeling alone is the reason it's worth it. You will feel it too. 0:39. Stick with it, you will feel it too eventually. It is worth it.
It is _really hard_ to find a diet without enough vitamin C to stay healthy. You can eat pure salted beef, or baked potatoes and cheese, and still get plenty of vitamin C. That lady has some skill.
One plot hole that I find irritating is that when the ketamine treatment weared off why didn't they just repeat it? Obviously it's annoying having to be in a coma again and again but it's better than limping and taking opioids everyday, and house only had to be in a coma every 2 months or so. He only had to be out of commission about 5 times a year for a few days in exchange for having full use of his legs
As a person who was a gym junkie in the past, and had to drop it due to chronic pain, the expression he makes when he stops after running is what i feel I'd do if became able to exercise again. Now even walking is painful. If i was able to run 10 km like i used to I'd too have a huge grin on my face. People who can exercise and don't - you have no idea how jealous im of you I'd give half my life away so i could do what i could back a couple of years ago. Also - for people who think that mental pain is the worst kind of pain - you haven't experienced what it's like to go for work after sleepless night due to pain, when every single muscle in your body, minus probably facial muscles hurt CONSTANTLY

It's easier than you'd think, unfortunately. Lots of people (mostly poor & racialized) live in "food deserts", ie. places that have no accessible grocers, so the only food available is cheap and processed, meaning little to no vitamin content. Also, while the price of processed foods may have declined, the price of fresh fruits and veggies has been climbing way over the rate of inflation for some time, and seems to be accelerating. The estimated number of undernourished people in America is staggering, even though empty calories are more available than ever.
Pretty easy if you're poor and malnourished.

I'm actually doing ketamine treatment for chronic pain in my feet and legs and it works when nothing else does :) mine usually wears off in about a month but I keep going back for "booster" treatments that's what most chronic pain patients do.

@@Stuart267 it can be, depending on how much is given and what kind of other medications you're taking. Usually they do it every month only for like the first 3 or 4 months then they spread it to 2 months then 3 then 5, and so on until it has changed your brain function for good. There are a lot of patients there who go once a year.

i can relate to this, needed surgery on my knee and at that point i took my legs for granted so i ran 5 miles a day before, 6 months later and back to running :)

Meaning they had to go through alot of time and money to get not only the permision but also the copywrite claims so nobody could take it from the studio. I felt empty and numb my entire life. One day I decided to exercise. I hate exercising, I really, really do. Even to this day, I wish I could get away without doing it honestly. But I stuck with it. I continue to stick with it because after around 8 weeks I felt it. I felt the smile at 0:39. I realised everything felt lighter, my mood, my body, I was more energised. Something clicked. I felt...alive. Even though I wish I didn't have to force myself to exercise consistently, that feeling alone is the reason it's worth it. You will feel it too. 0:39. Stick with it, you will feel it too eventually.
It is worth it.

It is _really hard_ to find a diet without enough vitamin C to stay healthy. You can eat pure salted beef, or baked potatoes and cheese, and still get plenty of vitamin C. That lady has some skill.
One plot hole that I find irritating is that when the ketamine treatment weared off why didn't they just repeat it? Obviously it's annoying having to be in a coma again and again but it's better than limping and taking opioids everyday, and house only had to be in a coma every 2 months or so. He only had to be out of commission about 5 times a year for a few days in exchange for having full use of his legs
House would have diagnosed scurvy sooner if he still had a pegleg.

As a person who was a gym junkie in the past, and had to drop it due to chronic pain, the expression he makes when he stops after running is what i feel I'd do if became able to exercise again.
Now even walking is painful.
If i was able to run 10 km like i used to I'd too have a huge grin on my face.
People who can exercise and don't - you have no idea how jealous im of you I'd give half my life away so i could do what i could back a couple of years ago.
Also - for people who think that mental pain is the worst kind of pain - you haven't experienced what it's like to go for work after sleepless night due to pain, when every single muscle in your body, minus probably facial muscles hurt CONSTANTLY
