I thought the use of the card game "concentration" for the search portion was a unique and appropriate choice! Lol, as you got further into the search phase and the "what have I already looked at" started to have an effect! 😄 The use of the "concentration" card game mechanic I thought was super cool for this game. Great opening video! Cheers from across the pond! 🍻
A pleasure as always, and I do agree the system adopted for the pre-battle search phase was just inspired! I'm pretty sure I was inwardly groaning at some repeat viewings back there 🤣
It’s a very strange but also very different type of system I got to give it that. Knowing how much you are into naval war games I can see how this game would hold your interest, it does a nice job at creating the search phase of these naval air battles before all Hell break lose
Funnily enough, for a simple mechanism it does build up the tension really well. I take my hat off to them for that clever 'Enemy Fleet' mechanism in particular - pure genius.
In modern solitaire gaming, think that this phase would be replaced by say 4 tables. Quite like the tension built up here, as would be experienced in real life.
Yes, this is a very different approach, and while I do like event tables, there is just something very different for me personally about drawing cards for events. I get the same nervous tingle when I'm playing Phil Eklund's 'Luftschiffe' and 'ZRCV'
Sigh. Those always start as a minor annoyance, which slowly builds in intensity as more of them appear. It is one of the few areas where this game does fall down for me, and I think they have very little excuse with names like 'Thach' and 'Takagi'....and, as you say, 'Samuri'....

What's with all those errors in spelling on cards? samuri, Adm. Tagaki, etc.
