I love how this mix completely subverts the energy of the original so it can keep growing and growing through the whole song and then Gambino comes in with a "Swag." and the echoes in the background start going and the whole thing just explodes. Still amazing in 2018.

You Forgot his writing, he made his way into the industry as a writer (mostly comedy but not exclusively), 30 rock, lot of that was him, some his first work in Hollywood in fact. The man truly does it all, he is even a brilliant producer/show runner now with a successful show. The one that always gets me, is that the man was so unique and talented, that a comic book character (Miles Morales aka Spider-Man) was based on him and his personality, and even Stan Lee endorsed the idea and wanted him to play a live action spider-man, it is a shame Sony gave in to racist trolls and thought it would be less controversial to cast a white Spider-man.

Got to say, the first time I listened to this I hated it (perhaps because of my expectations after it being so hyped up?). I wound up back here after listening to Freaks & Geeks (in which he references the Adele sample) and I don't know what was wrong with me. It's great. Even though his verse feels so short, it's really decent. I especially love when he enters- swag.
This is only one of the adele samples he refers in his Freaks and geeks. He sampled "Melt My Heart to Stone" in "Do ya like" too.

I guess he primarily meant the "Melt My Heart to Stone" in "Do Ya Like" (which I didn't realize when I listened to it), but I'd argue he's been quite successful working with Adele tracks.
I don't doubt that. The reason why I said it felt short though was because as soon as the song starts I anticipate Gambino's verse. So when he finally starts his only verse 2/3 of the way through, I found it to almost zip past me.

Great remix by both parties involved. Have a love-hate relationship with Gambino, but this is my favorite verse of his. If he did this more often than the "Asian girls everywhere UCLA" bullshit he'd be alot better. He's always shown potential, just needs to stray from constantly focusing on style over substance.
