- Moving on to the next country on my journey, I took a crazily long ass bus ride from Vientiane, Laos all the way to Hanoi, Vietnam.
It was one of my most memorable border crossing experiences thus far and it will definitely be the first of many!
Hope you guys enjoy this video and do SUBSCRIBE for more border crossing adventures!

Definitely the best video about this journey that I've seen.
Is there any reason the bus you took was so nice (usb, TV, toothbrush etc) when compared to others I've seen? Any tips as to the bus company you booked with or the day of travel? Or is it just pot luck?
thank you!!! When I arrived at bus station, there was only 1 staff at the counter that sells the ticket to Hanoi and there was only 1 type of ticket so I couldn’t compare. But I believe there are other categories of tickets - I would think mine is the VIP one. In terms of companies, based on my limited experience, they are all quite competitive in terms of prices (especially at bus stations where there are many companies together - they will literally try to get your attention to buy their tickets instead of other vendors), my tip would be to go every counter and ask (if u have the luxury of time). Day of travel - try to avoid any dates around public holidays such as the new year. Normal weekends are fine. Hope this information is useful!
Let’s goooo!!!
LET’S GOOOO!!!
How much for sleep bus guy?
Hi. So actually not 24 hours ya? Since the bus isn’t moving from 2am to 7am waiting for Vietnam border to open? 😀
Hi there, yes 24 hours to reach the destination, but not 24 hours moving time.
Is there an overnight bus from Luang Prabang to Hanoi?
Yes there are lots of them! You can get the tickets very easily from the hostel/hotels u are staying at.
Nice video! Planing to do same route and would love to book same bus as you (looks much better then other busses I seen). Do you maybe know / remember which agency was operating that bus? tnx!
It was definitely one of the more well equipped buses! Unfortunately I don’t remember the agency name but at the 0.20 minute mark, I went to counters 8/9/10 (left side of the bus station) to purchase the ticket. At that point of time, there was only one staff available and only one bus to Hanoi so I didn’t really have much of a choice. Hope this helps and good luck for your journey! (:
Good stuff man🫡
What’s the name of the bus company you used?
cong ty huyen chau
Do Filipino citizens have to get off the bus at the border?
as long as you’re not a local, we have to get off the bus unfortunately
Hi brother, thank you for sharing some info its a nice vedio. I just want to ask if what is the name of the bus station you ride to go to hanoi?
hi bro sorry for the really late reply! I can’t remember the exact name but it’s at the southern bus station!
"cong ty huyen chau" from the bus, you can google it.
What name of the vietnam checkpoint?
it is the Cau Treo border
Where did you get the visa?
Online or at the border?
thankfully my singapore passport didn’t require a visa to cross. there is no Visa On Arrival for this specific border (Cau Treo) so you will need to get it before hand. Hope this helps!
hello my friend do you remember the schedule of the bus? can i buy on the day i will ride?
hey there! If I remember correctly, the bus runs once per day (around 6pm daily). You can definitely buy it on that same day you are riding it, but suggest to buy it earlier if it was around any public holiday dates as they might be sold out
@@NoFlightNomad thank you for your reply, can u teach me how to to the ticket store/bus station i will be coming from thailand. Planning to secure the ticket first thing in the morning when i arrive and leave for the night.
I was staying around Vientiane city in Laos and I took a short tuktuk ride to the southern bus terminal to buy the ticket. You can arrive a day or two earlier in Vientiane and go the next morning. I initially came from Nong Khai in thailand before crossing the border to Laos. Hope this helps!
@@NoFlightNomad thank u i don't have much time i will just pass by Vientiane arrive in morning then leave for hanoi at night
that’s fine. have a safe trip and enjoy the ride!
Hello!! Great video , we are doing this trip next we and we 100% want to take this bus, it looks good compared to all the others. How much did you pay for VIP and which company is it do you remember 🫶🏼
Sorry just seen you paid 600,000 😊 which day of the week did you travel Im just wondering how I can make sure I get this bus 100%
Hey thanks for watching! Yup it was 600k Laos Kip which was about USD 35. Unfortunately I don’t remember the company name but at the 0.20 minute mark, I went to counters 8/9/10 (left side of the bus station) to purchase the ticket. At that point of time, there was only one staff available and only one type of bus to Hanoi so I didn’t really have much of a choice. It was most likely a VIP bus. I bought it on the 9th of Dec which was a Friday. Hope this helps and good luck for your journey! (:
Good stuff man🫡
