Wow guys! I had no idea this video was going to get the views and responses it has. Thank you so much for taking the time and for all the kind words! To be honest I’m not sure if technically I’m really “back” but you guys are certainly making me consider it with all the love! Hey man really appreciate your video and your opinions on this mess it's certainly appears genuine
I do shake my head everytime tou give this game praise but if you've put the time in your in a better position than I as I installed and deleted it in my mind within ten minutes of the first videos coming out due to the restrictive nature of this thing
It's in no way a simulator for that assetto is the only way on console
Devs won't listen to the gaming community they never do I can say this because if they would of stayed the course with fm7 with car updates then there rep would be intact
As it stands I refuse to be restricted in how I play a racing game the fact I cant jump in a car after hours of career progression and just drive what I want how I want with as much power as I want
It's restrictive I going to stick with fm7 and enjoy the freedom it provides still to this day
Forza motorsport (2023) is a shadow of forza motorsport 7
Why reinvent the wheel it already works so well haha

I like a lot of the points you made here. I really enjoy the feel of the physics and the updated multiplayer. However, currently my biggest issues with the game are random server disconnects and game crashes while in multiplayer races. Some nights it can get as bad as a complete game crash every other online race. I'm hopeful for future patches though. My current feelings about the game are, when it works, it works really well! I just want it to get to a point where that's the more consistent state.

I 1000% agree with you Dan. I’ve been having a blast playing the game. Sure its not perfect and it has it’s small issues but it’s a product that’s supposed to be supported long term.
One guy commented on one of my videos saying he’s so disappointed and he’s not gonna get it because its called motorsport and there are no races in career mode for actual race cars.
I dunno where he got this information from because the featured races section has 3 races dedicated to race cars on rotation right now.
Not to mention the multiplayer hoppers are really good so far with the spec races. I think people always set themselves these wildly unreasonable expectations of certain games and then get upset when its 100% not what they would have made.

I’ve been playing it for-oh hi, by the way. I’ve never seen your channel before but other than Luke Riley, you are the only person I’ve seen who understands this game- anyway, I’m newish to racing games/sims. Played Project Cars 2, Assetto 1, GT, and Forza over the years and this game is getting a bad rap for no reason in my opinion. FM23 is miles better than FM7. No it’s physics aren’t exactly like life but the principles of the physics are there. I’m the type of person who when I’m going for a sim experience, I turn off all assists, aside from racing line during braking just because I have horrible vision and have trouble seeing the turns so I use that to show me where the turn is, but aside from that, zero assists in any sim/game that I’m trying to get a realistic experience from and FM23 does a good job. It’s fun, it’s very detailed. I spent hours just touring favorite car interiors. The physics can be tweaked to closer resemble reality and I think you’re right. After FM7, there’s no way that the people giving it such a bad score are sim racer fans. Gotta just be game pass customers who tried it for an hour or two.

This is why I like your videos, you really think about it and you talk common sense every time. I'm really tired of other Sim racing channels always shooting-down Simcade or Arcade racing games unfairly. As if all Sim racing games are better when they are not. I remember you did a video a few years ago about the state of the Forza series. I basically wrote that Turn10 needed to design a career mode that keeps the player invested in it because all the Forza games at that point had all the cars available to drive in Time-Trial and Quick-Race. And to Turn10's credit they have fixed it and now people are crying because they think it's too Grindy. They are upset that they can't buy all the race cars in 1 hour all tuned-up for multiplayer and forget about the rest of the game. That's modern society, people expect everything on a silver plate without doing the hard work.

It's not just sim racers who blast it, fire comes from both sides. Casual simcade racers blast it for stock grind required to unlock any customizations. If it was just things like power upgrades, it would be one thing, but in Forza you can't do any tunning on stock parts. It doesn't help that default tunning on starter cars is pretty rubbish, so first move of experienced players is to take it to garage and fix that mess, which they can't, because tunning requires max level parts. Not the best first impression.
And you have to repeat stock grind for every new car you want to drive, which is positively demoralizing.

I really don't agree with him on the career specially if you played Forza Motorsport 4 and old GT's... FM 4 had many stuff in the career and was getting really close to GT.
Forza Motorsport 8 is by far the worse career I have seen in a Forza Motorsport, it's basically generic like Project Cars and other games... Just a few generic races the same as you do in Free Play.
Basically the whole career you chose a car and have to do many same races with it just in different tracks and each one even has another pointless practice laps to take your time (which you can skip but you will have less points to upgrade car for the next race), you just keep finishing and moving to the next, there isn't anything different, there's also currently no drift, no drag or anything else, *THERE ISN'T EVEN RACING CARS RACES on the career mode at this moment in time* (so yeah forget about GT2, GT3, LMP.......... there isn't a single racing in the entire career).
And then the car progression is pointless cause I tested, basically you can simply finish a whole series of races without upgrading the car if you want it's all the same cause when you upgrade usually the others upgrade either on the same race or for the next one while if you keep the car stock they will also stay stock so it's not even required to do level up and is for you to chose but at least with slow cars the best thing is try to upgrade as much just to finish the booooring races faster LOL, that's the whole point of leveling up for me 🤣
ps: BUT THE NEW GAMEPLAY IS TOTALLY THE BEST EVER FOR A FORZA😎 Really hope they fix most issues fast and add a ton more content specially tracks, hell it doesn't even have Nurburgring full track, just the small ones and that's my favorite track by far, I want nordschleife since day 1 🤬

Not only on the car models, not all of them but most as well as the atmosphere which I think really brought Motorsport 8 to life. The sun rays and time change and even the track textures are so much better in my opinion. I think Turn 10 really optimized it for the Xbox rather than PC. I wholeheartedly agree with you on the car parts unlocking mechanism implemented here. I was never a Forza fan in the past. I played the odd Horizon over the years because it was fun, but if I wanted a true racing fix I deferred to Gran Turismo on a gamepad, and to AC, ACC, the first Project Cars and rFactor 2 for league racing on a wheel. I unlocked the game last night only, and barely played an hour of it in the Subaru with a gamepad. It doesnt take long to get the hang of driving with a pad, and the car does feel extremely understeery on acceleration with loads of lift-off oversteer into corners. It requires you to learn how to drive a car like that. Its what you would expect from an all-wheel drive car. The Mustang being rear-wheel drive and the Honda being front wheel drive will allow you to learn different driving physics...and these are the 3 cars they present to you as a beginner. This is perfect. All driving mechanics are under one umbrella. And the parts unlock? It is exactly what you would expect from real-world racing. You do well enough and earn enough money through experience, and you can buy the parts required to creep up to the rating limit for your car in that competition; being careful not to exceed it and disqualify yourself from said competition. The one thing I have learnt from games that give you access to everything all at once (in what is supposed to be the flagship game mode) is that people latch onto what their preferred weapon, and the playerbase dies a slow death as people get bored, stop playing and only the die-hards remain. With this model, each unlock feels like an accomplishment. A dopamine hit. Making you just a tad quicker than you were in the last race. And as you progress your car upgrades and your gained skill in driving that car will see you do better and better as time goes on. It's not the disappointment some reviewers made it out to be, and I could see it within an hour of play last night. I am personally looking forward to spending hundreds of hours on my PC with a gamepad driving the snot out of different cars and enjoying the multiplayer as even Gran Turismo on the Playstation became stale to me.

As a Forza Veteran whos played every Forza game to pretty much "completion" and a predominantly controller player, the driving feels better than ever. Despite some graphical bugs its the best Forza has ever looked. That being said the game feels extremely shallow, only a few career races, no GT or LMP tour in a "Motorsport" game is insane, outdated car models still being put in, lowest number of tracks i think we've ever had, the removal of drag and drift modes, hundreds of left behind vehicles that im not sure why couldn't be brought over from FM7, no auction house, and no "extra" content like bowling or infection, as silly as that may be. To sum up my view of the game as a Forza Veteran, Turn 10 has built a phenomenal foundation for the future of Forza Motorsport, but thats all it is, a foundation. I know tracks, cars, amd features will be added in, but inhave a gut feeling based off of other Microsoft titles that itll be several years before we have enough content to be up to par with previous entries at launch. If you like Forza Motorsport this is a must play, just be prepared to wait for things like the auction house, or nordschleife, or cars like tue C6R to added back to the game. I give it a 7.5/10 in its current state, but give it a year or two of content and it has potential to be the best Motorsport yet.

The criticism on career and car progression also does not reflect with me. I like it. To be honest, i hated it in Forza7 to be showered by cars, more cars then i wanted to use. For me Forza was and is a racing game where i only use a couple of cars i like. But for many it is since a long time a "Car Pokekmon Meme Tune Game" - and those people hate Forza for exact this reason.

Hit the nail on the head with the majority of your comments. The grind does feel rewarding with the upgrade system being paced accordingly. That being said, I'd like to see how the carreer mode gets updated live. I don't want to wait 2 days to do my next championship in the Featured Tour. Like to see more Featured tour events going live simultaneously across different categories to give that variety, or more of the showdown classics that we saw of old eg Ferrari Vs Lamborghini, Subaru Vs Mitsubishi. I miss the challenges that were on Forza games of old to.
That being said, the physics is a pleasant improvement once you get your wheel settings tweaked. I view it as being halfway house between FM7 and AC; Frustratingly rewarding when you turn all assists off.

From what I’ve seen the only people who genuinely enjoy this game are people who are regular gamers. People who don’t really look into game development and understand where the harsh criticism comes from.
As a raw game, just raw gameplay, it’s great. It’s beautiful, the cars sound amazing. The atmosphere in this game is also definitely more focused into racing as opposed to feeling like a game that just has cars in it.
But the mechanics and design of this game are awful. Beyond awful. In the past couple of years gamers are far more educated about game development. So we can clearly tell when devs just get lazy and cut corners.
I don’t have to go over every issue with this game because it’s so blatant, if you’re happy with every stock car being bugged, the AI having zero awareness, and the rigged difficulty settings, we’ll have fun guys😂.
    This game was just lazy

Count me in as another huge fan of the game. I love the caRPG aspect of the game and honestly, it just doesn't take that long to level up a car but I usually only make small changes to a car and don't want to immediately throw an 800 HP engine in one and hit the track. I appreciate taking the time to get to know the nuances of the car driving it stock for an hour or so. Career mode has been great and I know they will add to it. If five hundred cars isn't enough for you, I don't know what to say. The free race aspect is fantastic as well and I love just hopping in something and creating a custom race. Also, Rivals is another way to level up your car and have some fun with it.
But then again, I cut my teeth on GT2 and GT3 where you basically started with one car and had to work your way up just to get access to the more competitive classes. I remember driving a Del Sol for a week before getting to my second, more powerful car.

That's great for a bit, but when you just want to buy a car, tune it, and drive - it gets old fast. The system was created to increase hours on Game Pass - you can AFK grind out the levels in a few hours, so long as you check in every fifteen minutes.

    • @guily6669
      @guily6669 Год назад

It depends, some cars have things on a insane high level and others at very low level however I'm totally fine with the upgrade system... But I'm very disappointed with career mode cause it's just random generic races the same as doing in FreePlay and very similar to most PC only pure sims boring generic careers... There's nothing different, no drift, no drag or anything at all and the worse is there's even no racing cars races on the current career so no GT3 or any kind at all which is pretty odd for a Forza Motorsport.
And the car RPG stuff is a bit pointless cause I tested entering a race after upgrading and the others upgraded and I checked the car with the highest value and exited the race and entered again and the highest value was exactly the same, so I went back to upgrades and put all at stock and did 2 starts and exits on the same race and the others were also kept stock so basically likely you can simply opt to not upgrade anything as it doesn't make much difference, it's not like real RPG where you would go a level up and makes things easier but rather you upgrade, they upgrade or upgrade on the next race and stay almost the same with some small differences depending at which point they upgrade after you...
Other thing that makes me pissed is it doesn't have the full Nurburgring track which should have been there since day 1, I really want nordschleife fast.
Now on the gameplay is really where this new Forza Motorsport improved big time, it's my favorite gameplay ever from all Forza Motorsport's.
ps: Forza Motorsport 4 was by far the highest point on all Forza in terms of career and the closest ever to Gran Turismo. Now even GT7 is not what it used to be but this forza still is like only 5% of the GT7 career which is already going bad for a while since after GT6 which was my last favorite career of all racing games and can't decide between GT4 and 6...

I'm an older gamer myself and have played a myriad of racing games from burnout and need for speed to ACC and project cars 1/2. Personally, I'm iffy on the physics as an awd car shouldn't lock up and swap ends at 30-50% brake pressure on stock settings (a legacy issue of all forza titles imo) and feel wonky. As for the "CarPG" aspect, I don't like that either. I should be able to buy better tires, brakes and suspension components when I can afford them in my opinion. I definitely don't like having everything from the get-go like the later horizon titles but being able to get the car drivable with my limited resources is a priority. Solid video though and a pretty balanced perspective compared to other reviews though and I appreciate that. I want to know what others think.

Why don't we have a modern LMP series? Same goes for GT, pre-war cars, 60's F1, classic LeMans, modern hypercars, 90s supercars, "go karts" (Caterham, X-Bow, etc), single-brand series ("All Ferrari"), powertrain layouts ("Front-Engine V12s"), and so on. With so much potential it's hard to get excited about doing three straight events that are basically, "Euro Hatches" followed by "Euro Sedans" and finally "Euro Coupes"

That's the only issue I have with this level up system. Also if you sell that car and you buy a new one, you go back to level 1.

As someone that has spent +$100 for the game, I'm extremely disappointed. Everything is wrong with the game. 5 out of 10 is the best possible score anyone can realistic give this game regardless of console or PC play. Your are strickly biased if you say anything different. This isn't a SIM racer, and I wish people would stop saying this. Everyone is completely wrong. It wasn't built from the ground up like they said, this is actual fact. With all of that being said, the diving is good, and that's it. If cyberpunk hadn't already been released it would be getting the same exact backlash that cyberpunk did on release. FM7 is 10 fold better than this game, so your opinion means nothing, you are a completely wrong. This game isn't even remotely close to being in the same ball park as FM7, what are you smoking my guy. FM7 is like the absolute best Forza to date. 4 and 3 are even better than this one.

We do agree about the 5/10, but FM7 is significantly better and I'm not pulling your leg. This game literally has only one good thing going for it, the diving. EVERYTHING else is absolute dogshit. How you didn't like 7 is just crazy. At times it looks good, but the car leveling and car points and overall lack of polish along side the worst AI I've ever ran against in ANY car game drops this below every FM except 1 and 2, because I didn't play those titles so I can't have an opinion on them. But FM7 was absolutely gorgeous, ran smoothly to boot, and the AI didn't suck. The track selection was infinitely better. I can't fathom this one ever being better than FM7 regardless of any future updates. I mean you said it yourself, you have to lower your expectations just to play it with a sound mind. Realistic expectations are generally speaking better in EVERY category compared to it's predecessor, but it only surpassed it, barely that is, in the driving mechanic, and that's it.

The problem with the progression is that, if I want to race against AI for hours, I can just do that on AMS2 were the AI is enjoyable to race against and won't murder you, the cool thing about Forza and Gran Turismo is the fact that you can pick your favorite cars and turn them into track monsters, then race them in a competitive setting, having to grind against AI for the parts you could buy with money or battle against Forza rammers in pvp until you can unlock the upgrades just sounds like a chore, people have many favorites when it comes to cars, being forced to grind for parts takes the fun out of the game, I can race against AI on AMS2 and have a blast while in Forza you will get blasted on turn one, it takes your freedom away for an arbitrary "progression system", take Gran Turismo 4 for example, you have freedom from the start and the progression feels rewarding.

Most of the critics of this game are either sim racers who play sim racing games which are barely games lets be honest or they're arcade racers who are mad at having to work a bit harder for rewards... there are some criticism of the game that I agree with though. The career mode is really good tbh BUT I think that you should be able to max out your car level in one tournament, or get close to it - the closest i've got is level 36 on an Alpine in 6 quite long races. I also wish the prize cars for the end of tours could be used in the Builder's Cup as none of them are viable (aside from the open class tournaments, which are really fun actually). And yes, some car models really do need updating (though the amount that need updating is a lot less than people think), and I think some car divisions need to be updated because some cars just do not belong (V8 Supercars and the Essenza in Forza GT doesn't make any sense, just have a 'V8 Supercars' division and add the Lambo to the 'Modern Factory Racecars' division).
This is a live service game and a platform for tons of content reaching far into the future, and I think its obvious from what we've got at the moment. They said that the game took so long to make mainly because they had to redo the back end to allow updates and adjustments to be rolled out in quick succession, so here's hoping they can implement changes! Thanks for your balanced and honest feedback on the game, thought I was losing my mind when I was enjoying the game and so much BS was floating about.

I haven't had a chance to play it yet due to work, but I disagree with your assessment that all the reviews have been overly negative. A lot of people do have critiques of aspects of the game, but the overall feeling I get from most of them are that the game has a solid base and is good fun once you get your settings dialed in, but there are aspects of it that need work, i.e. the graphics, the campaign, the carxp, the penalty system.

My biggest problem with the upgrade system is even if I play all the practice time to level up my car,I still can’t do the engine swap at level 40 coz the race is still capped at a much lower level and most of the cars I don’t think I’ll ever drive again after career mode

I love the game, the sound design and the feel of the cars is amazing, really enjoying it, i bought the premium version despite owning game pass (for now as i mainly play ps5/pc) Turn 10 normally do good when it comes to future content with DLC and updates etc.

Good Video. When you said It's fun that's all I wanted to know. Unfortunately like with almost everything these days the over hyped marketing machine sells us a dream and when the inevitable disappointment comes after we see the final product people will be overly critical. Rightly or wrongly.

Thank you for an honest review. This is my first entry into Forza with a wheel but not racing games with a wheel. Used to play Forza 1-3 back in the day, so I am just having fun racing the career, and multiplayer is a ton of fun as well.

My main issue, as an American player in Europe is that this game does not justify the price. CarPG I don't mind as much, but the fact that you have to redo each "quest" for the same car is straight rediculous. Some of the car modeling are recycled from past Forza. Jumping from this to GT7 was night and day experience in terms of overall graphics also. And the fact you mention numerous times "out the box" it needs tweeking in the settings says to me it's an unfinished game. The parts strategy you mentioned but fine for you, but for me I want to add parts that I WANT not a progression tree. With some cars I want to concentrate on suspension, some cars I want hp, but let me decide how to modify my car. Overall, you do make some good points though. Cheers🤙

I come from I racing and played all previous Forza this is a big step up for Forza it’s not perfect but it’s good . The online spec racing is my favorite . You don’t worry about upgrades , just tunes , like acc or I racing

good stuff thanks I'm on an older pc and gpu so having probs with getting my frame rate dialed but still enjoying the heck out of it. I think the new tire model makes me feel the road a bit more and the dynamic rubber on the track is pretty neat although it might be a bit much but not sure since I've never driving a race car before and experienced grip wear. Glad they got the Ae86 back. I play mostly online .

I started on Gran Turismo on the PS1 in the 90's. I've since been all over the realm and back. My sim rig is now worth over $10k and I spend most of my time in iRacing which is still the greatest online competitive experience (especially in VR). That said, my history with Forza keeps me coming back. I'm super impressed with this latest release. It is more simlike than ever before, the graphics are mindblowing (despite what some reviewers say), and the multiplayer racing has been way better than I expected. I would say that I'm less interested in using Forza as a Racing Sim, but more as a driving experience. I love grabbing my favourite classic cars (usually 80's and 90's Japanese models) and building them into fun to drive track cars. I can't do this in iRacing or ACC so this game sits nicely in that realm and allows for a great community of meet-ups and customization. Yea, it has some glitches and I'm not entirely sold on the CarPG component, but overall I highly recommend this new release for anyone who loves cars and race tracks!

@@DanDiMaggio DO IT! I had an amazing race in the qualifier last night in a Civic. I was blown away with my battle in the top 3 for the lead. We swapped positions at least 6 times and never hit each other once. (and I won, so, there's that lol)

Nice to see a reasonable view rather then the usual extreme bs (both for and against).
Yes it's not perfect but at the core I'm finding it to be very good (I'm playing on series X).
    Really enjoying the driving.
It should also improve as time goes by so overall I'm happy with it.
Me main gripe is the lack of proper leaderboards, rivals are fine enough itself but i want to track all my cars times and be able to check my friends times and race against there times/ ghosts (like we used to do back in the day).
Just tired my first online qualification race on Laguna seca short and it was a rather clean race and tons of fun.

My initial comment (as I might update this comment throughout the video), I see Forza Motorsport as a "Casual Sim Racing" game. A game more sim than Horizon, but still casual and something everyone can get into. Or see it as your gateway drug into more hardcore sim racing games like R-Factor 2, ACC, iRacing etc. So having said that, it's on the same level as Gran Turismo 7, which is it's main competitor and the standard it should be held to.

A lot of the negative reaction is Turn 10's own fault for setting the expectation too high to begin with. People are so tired of marketing BS and if they had been more honest, there wouldn't be such a backlash.

I would say they need a hot patch to clean up some of the reflective issues for rendering and some of the strange areas of a track that have frame drops or super messing with the texture like the straightaway at spa is pretty meh. Other then that i dont mind the new system, but i hate the way they made upgrades locked out. I would rather the CP be the barrier for upgrades only, no leveling. Also it should be for all cars of the same make at least. I dont want to level 50 every car. Maybe make it where if you get three cars of the same make to level 50 it unlocks upgrades for the rest of the maker

The Industry as a whole does not want to see the shift from single buy games to games as a service (like Gamepass). Many companies like IGN and Gamespot plus 100's of other outlets depend on gamers coming to them for input on game quality, it is the center of how they get thier clicks. If gaming moves into a total service model, people no longer need thier opinions cause they either have the service or dont, they have access to the game and can try for free, or they dont and have other games on other services they can play for free. Thus they will fight to ensure that AAA games do not exist on service only platforms, it breaks thier buisiness model.

Jimmy Broadbent said on a stream that this game sucks and my first thought was… well yeah, if you have thousands of dollars in sim equipment and a ride in a real race car I’m sure it’s not great. But for those of us who want to go racing with a gamepad it’s one of the best games ever.

The key to the graphics on pc in this game is to set the graphics lower than your system can handle and just increase them gradually until it is just right. Anything above what your system can reliably handle will make the game look like a ps2 game.

There should be the traction set for each car as real life. Some older cars have traction when the technology didn’t exist.
And on modern cars they can’t operate without traction control.

I am absolutely agree with you. People are bitching about progression when its finally fixing whats wrong with the series. You want a million cars for driving three feet go play horizon. I want each car im my garage to be a project and an achievement. I really hope they don't chicken out. And you are right on the money about wanting a career where you start at the bottom and work your way up. That is exactly what I want to do in forza.

I've never played a Forza game, Horizon nor Motorsport. So I had no preconceived notions heading into early release. I play a whole bunch of other racing titles, from arcade to full on sim. And I don't think it's that bad.
The steering wheel experience isn't like that of ACC, but it's not intended to be a sim title. For what it is, I think it is a solid game. I am still trying to fine tune my steering wheel settings, so the experience may get better. But I don't think it is as bad as everyone else is saying it is.
