I think petrified is not the right term for this, but what a stunning piece of wood! I love the way you treated it too, letting the wood dictate the shape and keeping the walls thick enough that you could preserve that little inclusion. The grain looks almost like marble - beautiful work, well done 😊
Good morning 🌅, B, W, A, Amazing looking 👀 grain , nicely made and finished, wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🥳, From France.
Happy holidays! Wishing you happy holidays also from France 🇫🇷 in Strasburg! Joyeuses fêtes ! Je vous souhaite de joyeuses fêtes aussi de France 🇫🇷 à Strasbourg !
John - What makes you call it petrified? It is not stone, obviously… Was this bog oak? Because if so, that would be more similar to "sinker" wood, that was submerged for a long period of time.
Thanks for watching mate. Using this word took some thought as I’m not into “click bait” but the wood was like concrete and although not millions of years the wood came from a felled tree over 150 years old. Hence the grain. Cheers
This bowl has to be one of my all time favorites, this wood grain is beautiful.
Thanks! It really is an amazing piece of wood.
Beautiful piece!
Thank you, it was a joy to turn.

Yes you are correct it’s not “petrified” I only used the term to portray the hardness and difficulty of the turn. Appreciate your watching thank you!

Love your transitions. Absolutely beautiful 🎉
Thank you, I'm glad you liked the transitions!
The grain is beautiful! Looks like it was part of a burl. The wood also looked bone dry by the shavings you got. Nice job 👍

Absolutely love that shape, and the wood looks fantastic! (btw I can't find the link to your source of medallions?)
