AS far as I can understand a landlord can ask a leaseholder to renew their lease 6 months or 3 months before the end of contract with a higher price,but only when the lease expires, the landlord cannot wait on till the end of the term ,because the leaseholder can leave and he will take months to get another leaseholder, and he will be looseing money,not only that but the new leaseholder has to do a few months or week of shop work to bring the place from a flower shop to a store or what ever. and yes the landlord can can give notice 3 or 6 months before ,if they dont renew the lease . I am talking from some experience
These landlords, property owners need to start reading the law. You can't force someone to sign a new lease because you found someone else willing to pay more. That's illegal...whether verbal or written contract. Commonwealth and constitutional law applies in Guyana. Unfortunately for this woman, too much corruption also exists in Guyana which is why she will have problems. Government, courts and certain law enforcement is currently operating unconstitutionally ans illegally.. So don't expect much.
