  • Lets do an update on whats happening over at one of our beautiful bays enjoyed by tourists and locals alike, There was a dispute last year with the new owner, blocking public access to the idyllic bay - Fomm ir-Riħ. The owner had no permit. He hadn’t even bothered to apply for one. and was sadly backed by a minster ? This gate as now been removed sadly replaced with ugly signs and chains with a guard and dog ...Go read an intereting blog by Kevin Cassar

Wonderful clear crisp video, sound good to, welcome the new go,pro. This truly is a lovely spot , we have never walked down there but always go to view it from where you parked.
I think I mentioned about signs everywhere on another of your videos, they have been cropping up slowly for some years, more and more of them, its stopped us from walking in some spots because dont know if signs are official or not and this is a few years back, still nobody seems to do anything about it, Next time I come I will talk to the tourist board and try to get some clarity.
What this guy has done is awful and an eyesore, like you say is it legal. 😩😩😩 Thanks Steve. 👍🇲🇹

Hey Steve 👋🏼 that walk over the cliff was a bit hair raising on such a windy day 😳 such a shame to see all the signs 🪧 and so much of the place chained off. I must say the quality on the GoPro 10 is fantastic 👌🏼 and the sound was good too even without a wind muffler. As for a name, how about “Fancy Flo, Steve’s new GoPro!” 😂

At one time when the British ran Malta a portion of my fellow Maltese used to complain because they were not allowed to enter some places in Malta.Since the British left the same people think that they're free, what BULLSHIT. I remember when the British were her we where able to roam any place we wanted except military area.

    PARADISE LOST INDEED STEVE.
THANKS FOR SHOWING US SUCH ANOMALIES. Must say it's a
beautiful scenic area and a lovely
    walk 🚶 🚧 🌿 🌥 🌊 🎥 👏.
Now for the legal jargon (Malta) :-
As of 2016 the entire Maltese FORESHORE was classified as PUBLIC DOMAIN as opposed to "Public Land". The FORESHORE is defined as the first 15 metres of shoreline from where it meets the sea. Hope this info helps ⚖.
I suggest you name your new GoPro 10 "Trekking Tracey" 🎥 ☺.
    THANKS STEVE 👏 👏 👏
    Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ™

I always enjoy your videos, the new camera seems to do well in blocking out the wind noise even without the attachments. Its is a shame that access is being denied to the area, it's been happening here in Southern Ontario for years. A sign of "progress" I'm sure.

Just looked at the definition of foreshore and it says the land between the waters edge and the cultivated land. None of the land in your video looks that cultivated. Shame that it's being blocked off though. Agree that this is a lovely part of the island.

That was an excellent video and i really enjoyed it so much. That bay looks lovely what a great setting with the lovely rocks and sea crashing in on the shore. The Maltese Government needs to do somethig otherwise people will have no where to walk the whole island could be private just one mass of people owning land.

In the UK the area between the high and low water marks is Crown property and anyone can access it. There are some exceptions (military establishments etc) but there is a map where you can see where these are.

Definition of foreshore: part of the shore between high and low water marks, or between the water and cultivated or developed land.

A gorgeous area Steve , and judging by the amounts of `private` signs it`s nearly a guarantee that there`ll soon be a hotel appearing .

The foreshore is the land between the high and low water mark on the seashore - Malta inherited UK law this matter where foreshore is Crown property - should be clear right of access for fishing purposes but i am not sure about recreation purposes

The footage looked far superior Steve, the hero 10 will spank the hero 8. Sharp, clear and stable and better footage all round. Shame accessories are not interchangeable and a further drain on the wallet.
The guy who erected the signs and chains has himself created a safety issue by forcing a route far too close to the edge. All it will take is a slip and somebody will be injured and possibly killed, why, because a path has been routed dangerously close to cliff tops, absolutely ridiculous.
And having an armed guard is intimidating and threatening and only escalates the issue.

Looks dangerous. And.... the private property has been surveyed, fenced and posted. Maybe Malta could offer some lengthy tax write offs in exchange for the land. Maybe Malta doesn't want the land.

I have to agree with you. How can the person that says he owns the land tell which part is his and which part is the government's really sad somebody should speak up you should make some more videos about this. Is the access-banning owner perhaps one of the dubiously mega-rich passport purchasers? In Britain, you can check who owns what with the land registry. Before the EU, corruption in Malta was rare.

    • @johnabela932
      @johnabela932 2 года назад

Hi Paul, it's the same in Malta - Land Registry/Plans and/or deeds are all in the public domain. There is a handy government website as well which I've used successfully. As to "Corruption" & "EU", I think you'll find it's the other way round my friend.

That land was given to as a fief to a Sicilian baron in the Middle-ages by some viceroy, under the obligation of protecting that land buy building some tower and keeping arms and soldiers. That policy was normal in Europe during the Middle-ages but when the Order of St. John came to Malta and after the British that obligation became absolite, but the barons kept the land. In other countries like Denmark such lands were taken back by the governments in France taken back by the revolution. Now some Maltese so called developers bought it and want to build villas and apartments for foreign buyers.
