his posture is so perfect. I love these old videos.
Such discipline
Such grace and movement
A great flamenco in the movie Ship of Fools
this guys oozes so much testosterone it completely overrides the form-fitting onesie and heeled shoes
He is gorgeous! A long, cool glass of maleness! Ole!
LOL ..and probably these days all-women dancing Flamenco are oozing so much "Progesterone " ? And do you know heeled shoes could also be manly ? This is Farruca Dance, it IS manly
Wait until you see Carmen Amaya
Heeled shoes has nothing do to with gender or even sex.
Thats just BADASS, I don't care who you are...amazing
Ole!
I saw him at the Hollywood open air Greek Theatre when I was a kid, and got to meet him in his dressing room after the show. He was drinking a beer to help replace the two pounds he lost after every performance. He was the best dancer I've ever seen.
Who was he? What was his name?
@@Snookyooz His name is Jose Greco en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Greco
@Jazzycat47 Next best performer should be Sara Baras... I love every second of her performances.I think you would like her too
@@onurmutlu6503 Check out Carmen Amaya!
@@TSD0416 Thanks, physically he looks a bit like Rodolfo Valentino.
I performed Flamenco from about 1966 through 1974. My instructor was fabulous. This is how I remember it (except from a female dancer's perspective). I have not a drop of latin blood but spanish guitar and Flamenco will always hold a place in my heart.
Spirits don't have blood ❤
Upstairs neighbors be like...
Irun Mon
Rule to live by:
Never live under a flamenco dancer.
It would be an honor .. and a privilege to be an upstairs neighbor to those overly talented giants!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂👍
This is one of the most incredible flamenco dances I have ever seen on film! Does anyone know the name of this dancer? He is a truly a master of the dance. Ole'!
Nightbird That’s Jose Greco! Probably the most famous flamenco dancer in recent history
@@TheWizardYeof Thank you, Jacob! It only took 9 years for someone to answer this question..lol.
Nightbird Haha, you’re very welcome. Better late than never!
@@TheWizardYeof You are so right, thanks God the query was absolved. As Hispanic, amazed to see an Italian could do this up to perfection.
@@Nightbird. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's the best flamenco dancing I have ever seen... why did they EVER change it to modern I have no idea.... So powerful...
Jose Greco was born in Italy, and moved with his parents to New York. During an interview he was asked where he learned how to dance flamenco. His answer: "Brooklyn"! We enjoyed watching him perform and talking to him. The Farruca is one of my favorite pieces of flamenco music to play on guitar.
Father Italian, mother Spanish from Sevilla, before moving to New York he lived in Spain, he moved to brooklyn on 1928….
This clip is from the movie "Sombrero" released in 1953.
spetsdance. Wrongs from the movie from early sixties Ship of Fools. Good movie.
Thank you!
I watched this while I was 3 years old
It also has an awesome dance from Cyd Charisse
I am a tap dancer and a hip hop dancer. I've seen some pretty amazing footwork in both styles. But this has got to be one of the MANLYEST things I've ever seen!!!
The dancers name is Jose Greco, i learnt to love flamenco dance watching him in movies when i was a kid.Powerful
Jose Greco was and amazing dancer!!!
This is the pure traditional form of flamenco, which can still be seen in many schools and, of course, in places as the Sacromonte in Granada, where the gitanos dance in this style.
Bravo Jose!!! You will always be a myth in the history of Flamenco!!!
This is the late, great American dancer, Jose Greco, performing farrucas, the most macho dance of all! He really helped popularize flamenco during the 1950s and 60s, had a great company, was on shows like Ed Sullivan, etc.
Do you know if this scene is from a movie?
If you guys are wondering; the piece he is dancing to is called, 'Recuerdos (Farrucas)'.
This is badass, love the dance and energy here.
this is how I remind my roomies the rent is due
+Juan Alarcon Man! you made me laugh so much!!!
Juan Alarcon 😂😂
ROFL! Killed me!
ROTFLMBO!!!😂😂😂
Juan Alarcon I laughed toooooo hard at that lol
Best flamenco dancer ever Jose Greco (1918 - 2000)
What a gorgeous hunk of Man!
Hunk?
Don't see this purity in today's dancers....its all 'big productions' now, where is the basic, grounded connect???
Todays dancing doesnt have life to it!
shiva4ever I learned Flamenco in Spain; my favorite dancer once said "we must hang on to the old school Flamenco" and to this day I agree wholeheartedly with her."
My favorite was Blanca del Rey who said that while I was in Corral de la Moreria!
u wrong
What Sammy Davis Jr sang about. "It's all choreography". Both mainstream dance and music is losing it's soul.
Classic Spanish dancing amazing 👏 😍
The great Jose Greco, who along with Carmen Amaya, Carlos Montoya brought the Flamenco to light in the USA. The guitarist playing is Geronimo Villarino, who was a friend of my father. I remember him as a child in some home parties that I attended with my family.
That spin at 1:35 is just smooth as
Most of the time, I don't feel attracted to men dancing as performers. I usually find men singing or playing music very attractive. But male flamenco is the one exception. They are by far the sexiest male performers of any kind for me. I don't find the current flamenco dancers (male or female) even close technically and stylistically to those I saw coming through Miami in the 60' and 70's at Dade County Auditorium. They were international troupes with some of the then best in the world. Their ability to keep proper time, the cleanness of the sound, and the refined, finished quality of their technique and style was in another league to today's flamenco dancers. I'm afraid it is on the list of those dances which has been diluted in the past 50 years and is dying. Sorry to sound so negative, but you can't forget it when you have been exposed to an art form at it's best and purest...My favorite and a master teacher who came a few times to our studio was Jose Molina. I think - hope - he is still living and teaching in NYC. L.
I agree! I truely and dearly wish this style of old school Flamenco would make a comeback.
Gay
That was such a good comment
@@sachin1825 appreciate it Instead of being so gay yourself. Idiota
It remindes me of a male bird trying to attract a female by dancing
12 years…and this still wow’s me every time❤️❤️
1:33 to 1:35 he just killed it. Smooth & quick.
He is the Brilliant Jose Greco
I saw him decades ago in Detroit, it was a really big deal to attend his performances. He was a success, so he returned repeatedly. Always a treat. Unforgettable. Made me love flamenco for the rest of my life!
One of the world's great dancers. Brilliant!
Olé! Lol and people wonder why our people love to dance so much look at what came on boats to mix with our all ready rich history of worship. I know not all Spanish think of Latinos as inferior but I have never felt any love from the Spanish. I’d love to learn this very flamboyant and passionate. Bravo
That is awesome. just simply awesome. I honestly can't think of any other word for it.
1:32 BRUH… 🔥🔥🔥
That is so crazy, that another person was thinking exactly what I was just thinking, that this man performing looks just like Michael Fassbender.
don't see this passion much anymore really amazing
Just amazing
1:01 probably, michael fassbender is the reincarnation of this guy

You can! Practice,practice, practice!! 🕺
Sweet Fancy Moses; He's incredible
Saw the Spanish Ballet Group in the early 90's NYC. Back then they were totally old school flamenco.

Dude’s finger snapping is on another level

Male power and grace!!
Amazing skill. He makes it about the dance and not his image.

Is he making those clicking noies with his fingers? O_O
Jose Greco. The Master.
I don't know how I got here, but- DAMN. THAT GUY CAN MOVE.
That looks like Michael Fasbender O_O
+Juan Galan totally does!
We should get him to do this
ye
Jose Greco is the best!!!!!
What a wonderful dancer ! Such perfection in everything he does, you say his name is Jose Greco? Are there more videos of him? I could watch his dancing all day, Perhaps Joaquin Cortes could learn a thing or two. I also liked the fact that the camera was focused on him and not edited in such a way that you cannot see his mastery.
Jose Greco born on December 23 1918, in Montorio Molise, Italy, he grow up in Brooklyn. He died on December 31, 2000 . He appeared in movies and TV. You can see a clip in the movie "Around de World in 80 days". I believe his son is Jose Greco II.
thanks, I have found other videos of him, and have enjoyed them as much =
Thanks so much hunnie for giving me his name! This guy is amazing!!!!!
Just wow. That's how it's done..
Beautiful!
MAGNIFICENT!
Excelente, gracias por compartir.

miramiramiraaaaa
Baila increible el hombre este!
That’s more manly than what I can ever be😔. I wish I could....
0:48 The part you came for!
Fortnite GANG
@@SB_GG fuck fortnite
Wow, what a beautiful dancer !!!
His dancing was very Hyper, but that could have been a directorial choice..A Farruca is not usually that fast. You gotta admit, he did put Flamenco on the map here in the U.S. There were others of course, but he was the best known.... His daughters Lola and Carmela are very highly respected dancers in Spain. I've had the honor to see them many times! Was that Jeronimo Villarino playing the Guitar? He played for my first classes with Antonio Triana, many moons ago!
the waist up is what draws me..
Haha....as a woman, it's the hips I focus on!
This is soo good like if u agree
Wow, Ray! Amazing. How wonderful to have known some of the greats of Flamenco. Beautiful.
I just feel so proud of being descended from Spanish people right now.
Amazing culture and dance.
(Before anyone comments it, I know dance is part of the culture, but I wanted to highlight it, so I separated it)
I feel so proud too man
Hell yeah brother we also have amazing Spanish rock
Me too!
Proud Hispanic 🙌 🙌
Me too. I have the taino bloodline and my father is mixed with European that used to never mix.
By birthday I'm closer to the original spanish people and I'm proud of it
Phenomenal! Reminds me of a scorpion...
Brilliant
That is fun and impressive. Everything you could want out of a dance. 🕺🏻
ОН хорош!! я тоже трезвый так не могу . Фламенко !!!(из Ялты с любовью)))

So Nice~~^^ I love his style!!!
Wow, impressive beats and dance choreography.
Perfect.
Este fantastico bailarin español es José Greco uno de los mejores bailarines que he visto y de una elegancia particular en sus movimientos y que algunos le copian hasta la vestimenta.
This was the one and only Jose Greco!
That slide of the platform was so smoooooooth 😂
This is from a movie I remember it well, & I think this is Jose Greco? I saw him perform in Toronto 1960's at the old Eaton auditorium. Amazing gorgeous man.
Bravo!!!
ich liebe Flamenco
Simply amazing
amazing!
Essentially, and no order of importance, the chords are: D minor, A minor, E (dom. 7th). Standard fare for flamenco/Spanish music.
that’s so wonderful, is it a movie?
