Two Stroke Pipe Dent Removal | You Never Forget Your First Time

- While racing the 2023 Cajun Classic 100 Mile Enduro, I smashed my two stroke pipe into a hell of a large stump. I bought a Two Stroke Pipe Repair Kit from eBay and went after blowing out the dents. ⚡👕 Seat Time Shirts 👕⚡bit.ly/SeatTimeShop
The kit I bought was from RJS MFG on eBay (link below). The process is simple, but it can be a bit nerve-racking. You tighten the two pieces of the kit on the two ends of your two stroke pipe. From there, you add air into the pipe. Then you begin to heat around the dents in the pipe, slowly bringing the air pressure up if needed. The gauge on the kit I bought was very helpful, as I didn't want to go above 100psi in the pipe. I was very fearful of the exhaust end flying off.
As I was watching How To videos and searching for more, I couldn't find a good 'How To Install' the two stroke pipe repair kit. So I made sure to go a bit deeper on that portion. As for the dent removal, go slower than you think you need to. There's no reason to rush this part of the dent removal. You're heating up pressurized air, it can get dangerous! As you heat up the pipe, the psi in the pipe also increases, so make sure you watch the gauge as you heat up your dents.
Do I think I could have done a better job fine-tuning some of the dents? Sure, but I really wanted to work on getting the shape of the pipe back, instead of the perfecting looking pipe. If you have advice on how to get the smaller 'sharp' dents worked out a bit more, drop your comments so we can all take that knowledge moving forward.

Excellent video. Nice time saving edit with the simultaneous intro/setup. ❤
Thanks! I'll have to rewatch it and see what I did to make it helpful, but short, ha! Enjoy #GettingSeattime & Stay #Stoked! 🤘🏻🤙🏻⚡️
Just picked up one of those kits and will try it out this weekend. Thanks for the vid!
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
super sketch! and helpful.!
haha, dude, SO SKETCHY! And I already have to do it again :|
There is a kit which uses water instead of heated air. It’s way safer. Hydra Force.
I’ve seen it, and want to give it a try. But I also had to try the more dangerous version as well!
What sort of torch should be used please? Propane? Apparently Butane won't heat the pipe enough.
I started using MAP because it burns hotter. Good for metal on the bike and bearings, worthy of being cautious when using it in the pipe (thinner metal)!
Maybe a body hammer would work with those little dents. The pointed side is for shrinking metal. That body and metal bending is hard to master from what I've heard. Done some cold bending and have straighten a sub frame from a loop out. Its hard!
I think you're right. Maybe for the next pipe I'll get a bi more crafty. Hopefully I don't blow anything up... 💥
Thanks Dude , Great Video 👍🏼
🤘🏻🤙🏻⚡️ unfortunately I have to pull the kit out this week and get after another pipe 🤦🏻♂️
Heat and shrink the small sharp dents
Talk me through what that might look like.
Not dying is good.
Facts!
Damn looks cool! Was the process add heat add pressure add heat add pressure until it popped back?
That was the process in the beginning. On the later on dents, I started bringing the pressure up to about 70-80, heating, and if I really needed too, adding more pressure up to 90psi. I REALLY didn't want to go over 90psi...
@@SeatTime so boom straight to 80 and heat. Then at 10 more on the tuff ones!
I don’t know that it’s that cut and dry, but maybe it’s a good place to start. The small, sharper dents were certainly tough to get out. I feel those might need a bit more love and finesse.
What is the name of the kit you purchased?

Here's the post when I got it in. instagram.com/p/CtaHwJNAlDa/?img_index=1
PSI = Pounds per Square Inch... More surface area, more pressure pushing the metal ;-)
HERO 👊🏻 thanks! 🤘🏻🤙🏻⚡️
very good
