I generally dislike book covers with pictures of real people on them. Drawings of people or abstract designs or whatever are much better in my opinion. I'm also not a fan of when a book gets made into a movie and then they reissue the book with the movie poster as the cover

I'm not the biggest fan of Clare's covers, particularly TMI and TID but I like the remakes and I adore the more edited and beautiful TDA covers

The only series I can actually accept with people on the covers is The Selection series. Those covers are so beautiful it was the reason I picked them up and decided to read them😂

UPDATE: I read the entire Anna trilogy and it was amazing. Don't always judge books by their cover, it's only ok sometimes.
British people problems: When they release a book as a weirdly humongous paperback and you either have to wait months for it to be released in the same size as the rest of the series or have a book that is 5cm taller than the rest of the series. Even worse when the weirdly humongous paperback has a different cover to the rest of the series.

My favorite type of covers are the artistic fantasy novel covers that look like they were hand painted. Covers like the Xanth series or the Wheel of Time which I still need to read. :P

I avoided The Mortal Instruments series because of the cover of City of Bones. But then I read it and forgot about the cover xD
Now I love the cover, sadly though when I brought the series (cause i was borrowing other peoples copy) the first three have the *now a major picture film* like no
I have City of Ashes with the old cover with the half of a human, but I have City of Bones as the newer cover with the angel wings and it's really pretty
Buy the German books and learn german. Our Covers are so pretty (they are sadly about to Change it)
So glad I'm from England and bought the UK covers of the Gone series! Even though it's just black with each title on that it's own colour, it's still cool and mysterious in it's own way! When I see the American ones, I'm like now who is on which book? Is that Astrid or Diane? Is that Caine or Sam, is that Lana?! I DON'T KNOW!

I wanna know why UK editions get the really cool illustration covers like Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff, White Cat by Holly Black, Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky... I mean the list goes on and on. I want drawings and font not pictures of people and faces!!

At first I really hated our Divergent covers--especially because of the weird tag lines! But I feel like we really lucked out with Allegiant because it's beautiful. I much prefer it to the US cover.
Have you seen the UK Percy Jackson ones though? I didn't know it was possible but they anageed to redesign the covers WORSE than the old ones!

The best human covers I've seen are the Gallagher Girls American covers. All of them have a girl but it's but off at her mouth, so you don't really see her face

The UK covers for the HoO series, and for PJ's Greek Gods....... just no haha. Except the Blood of OLympus, I think we got a better cover this one time :D

MaryJane I don’t know what the UK covers looked like, but the American ones were BEAUTIFUL! I mean you get such a powerful scene in each of the books, that tell you a little about the book without being just plain bad

The Bloodlines series covers are horrible. WHY?! It makes me so sad because VA & Bloodlines are amazing books series but the covers are SO ugly. :( have you read the Silver Shadows yet? It's Amazing.

The vampire academy and bloodlines covers make me want to cry. They are some of the best books I have ever read, and no one else will want to read them with those weird romance-novel covers. And no, I haven't read Silver Shadows yet, because I ordered an autographed copy and I haven't got it yet. I don't know how I'm supposed to spend my time before it comes.

Mia Portman Yes and I love it! just be aware that the first entire book is the pilot! But still I really enjoyed it, so yeah, I recommend them! + if you go into it knowing the first one is the pilot I think you will enjoy it more!

I did not read the lux series for like nearly a year because of the covers and then when i finally did get around to reading the book it became my favourite......I've never regretted judging a book by its cover so much
