  • Texas Governor Greg Abbott pardoned Army Sergeant Daniel Perry, who was convicted of murdering Black Lives Matter protestor Garrett Foster in 2020, after facing criticism from former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson and citing Texas' "Stand Your Ground" law, leading the Foster family and their former attorney to question the integrity of the legal system and believe the pardon was politically motivated.
