- Here is a quick video about my new Fender Bassman 70. This amp is unpopular among guitarists. With is ultralinear OT with low distortion (does not break up easily , made for clean), it was made for BASS! The track is from Tim Baker/Dance.

you are a GODSEND I'm looking into buying a bassman and actually being able to hear bass played through one is so helpful!!!!
Haha! Felt the same and this is the main reason why I do videos.(help people save/spare or spend money...lol)
Sounds beautiful!
Really enjoy your videos and always look forward to new ones. I had asked you about the Fender SB vs the Trynor about a year or so ago. I ended up getting the Super Bassman, and I really am enjoying it. Your video helped me in my decision. Thanks!
Hi! Glad to hear you like the SB! Can’t go wrong with that beast!
That P bass is so cool! The algorithm brought me to you via JMJ Mustang Bass videos and my own GAS.
Thats the sound of a bass
Thanks for the vid. Great tones! I’ve been looking for a cab for this amp. I’m considering a 1x12 400w at 8ohm but I’m not sure if this amp would be too underpowered for it since it says it puts out 70 watts. I really only plan on using it for home and studio use, so I don’t need it to be loud enough for playing in a live setting, just don’t want to damage the amp obviously. Thoughts appreciated, thanks
You should go for a 4 ohms cab. The Bassman 70 output transformer is 4 and 2 ohms. 350w-400w cab would be sufficient:)
Great video. I’ve got a Bassman 135, I’m now looking for a cabinet… maybe Barefaced 210
Be careful :) Please try to find a cab as wide as the head….lol.
Thank you so much for uploading a bass demo of this amp! Who would have thought it would be so hard to find samples of bass being played through a Bassman amp? XD Do you know if there are some notable differences soundwise between this, the 100 and the 135 version?
Cheers
Hi! The tone stack is slightly different from the 70 Vs 100-135 (mid knob) but it’s in the same ball park. I do recommend the 70 and the 135 for the bass cuz they have ultra linear output transformer and can be pushed louder/ cleaner.
@@jochoui Thanks for your insight! I didn't even notice that the 100 had a mid knob, tbh, because I only looked at the bass side of the amp, haha. So, the 70 is going to stay clean longer than the 100, if I understand that correctly?
@@SquareWaveSymphonies close to. The 100 have 4 power tube (like a twin) but yeah cleaner for the same almost the same volume.
@@jochoui Thanks! I only played the 100, so far. I'll definitely have to give the 70 a try. :)
@@SquareWaveSymphoniesI gigged with an original non-master volume super bassman for a few years and it never let me down, had it all the way to 8 for a few open-air shows and it was still clean...but I was using a 2x15 with electrovoice speakers which pushed some serious air
Have you played the Bassman 800HD? I'm in need of a new lightweight head and I'm thinking about the fender.
Yes! It’s a cool amp if you need the overdrive chanel. But, nothing to be compaired with the Bassman 100T or Superbassman. (They share the same tube preamp I think). If you can afford, I would consider the Demeter VTBP-M-800D.
Damn this sounds so awesome. Fantastic P and fantastic Amp.
Great tone. I have the same head but searching for great matching cab. Do you run on 4 ohms? How powerful is the cabinet. Best D
Thanks! Yes it’s a 4 ohms/800w. Really a good match/size. Looking for a Aguilar SL210 4 ohms also. The head is 4/2 ohms! Insane! I’ve done a gig this week-end in a medium pub. Plenty of power!
Cheers!
Great stuff! How do you record the sound in most of these clips? I don’t see a mic in the room
I’m adding a Hammond DI transformer to most of my amps/preamps. Straight into a cheap audio interface. No twiking.
Hello, a question about the tubed ampeg svt vr manufactured today and the tubed fender super bassman head manufactured today, also if you turn up the volume, do they distort or not?
The SVT is way more agressive and will distort. You can dial the gain/master volume for the amount you want. The super Bassman will only distort at very high volume with the vintage Chanel. You can achieve distortion with the overdrive Chanel at all time at every volume.
@@jochoui ok thanks and another thing the ampeg svt vr is much more aggressive in treble only or in the other frequencies compared to the fender super bassman
@@manuelestay7591 SVT is more agressive and punchier overall. To my taste, the SVT is muddy in the lows but if you mainly plain with a pick you can’t go rong. The SuperBassman will be perfect everywhere in everything but you won’t have grit from the power section unless you play very loud.
@@jochoui Ok thanks so much
sounds amazing !! how you made the xlr out ? it’s possible in my bassman amp ? thanks 🙏🏼
Yes! There is plenty of room in there. But you will have to drill a hole in the chassis for the XLR connector. Adding a small DI transformer at the preamp exit section is easy.
thank you very much for your help . I just bought hammond 144 transformer. I need to add something else to the circuit before the xlr output? . you’re very helpful for me 🙏🏼. thanks !
@@bigmarquez8469 what’s the model of your Bassman? Bassman70? On that one you can tap directly on the negative feed back (line recording output jack). Otherwise you can tap the transformer between the 0.1UF and the pin 2 of the 12AT7/ phase inverter. I would use a 1K resistor on the input of your transformer. Another option is to add a 0.022uf450V+ after the two 220k of each preamp chanel.
@@jochoui bassman amp ( 50w) . is different for this one ?
@@bigmarquez8469 yes. You don’t have the negative feedback recording 1/4 output jack option.
HIII,, BEAUTIFUL PLAY!! I HAVE A SAME BASSMAN 70, PLEASE ASK YOU TELL ME ABOUT TEH CABINET_?? THNKS!!!!! GREAT JOB
Hi Pupi! Thanks, the cabinet is a Aguilar SL410. Love it. Light and is sufficient for 90% of gigs. Cheers!
@@jochoui thnks a lot cheers!!!
