      Thanks! We are very excited for this new project car as you can probably tell. Stay tuned for more is300 content. We are going to be doing the muffler delete mod soon, and in the coming months get it ready for turbo

    Great job showcasing why I've loved these cars so much since 2005! I always plan to have one in my own garage, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what you do with yours on the channel!

      Thanks so much!! The plan is to build the motor and turbo it, it's gonna be a slow process because $$$ but I would say by this time next year the engine is coming out to get fully built. 2jz stuff isn't cheap lol.

      @@CarGuyFridays - having just bought all the turbo parts for my own IS300 I totally hear you. Covid related delays really slowed down delivery of parts too, as I wanted to be up and running before the end of 2020. That's not happening, but the parts should really start arriving in the next 30-60 days (fingers crossed) so hoping to make it happen. I've waited about 15 years to get this done as I bought my first IS300 in 2005, so it's a very long time coming.

      Awesome!! What kinda setup are you going to be running? You've had yours a long time, they are really great cars. Have you ever had any issues with yours?

      @@CarGuyFridays - My first one was a bone stock 2003 5MT/LSD car I owned between 2005-2017 and it was not modified and was mechanically exceptional up through 140k miles when I sold it. I even had the original battery and front brakes on the car when I sold it in 2017, like a fool (I should not have sold it). The current one I bought in fall of 2019 and it is a 2001 5AT slicktop with cloth interior that I'm in the process of building up.
      The heart of the turbo kit is a CX Racing manifold and front mount intercooler but I bought a Precision Turbo 5862 journal bearing turbo, and TIAL wastegate and BOV for it to upgrade the stock CX parts. It will be a WG only run light pressure setup that I expect to make about 230 whp on (stock my car put down 174 whp, 182 wtq) until I am ready to do a 6MT conversion and then run standalone engine management at a later time.
      It will be a long term project for me as I do not plan to get rid of the car, and will enjoy it in a variety of stages over time. Thanks for asking!

      Nice!! Yea plans are a cx manifold with a 6266 and an ar5 swap. Probably a link ecu and will build the motor with rods and pistons and the head will be stock just freshened up. I just joined my.is so I'll check you out on there. Good luck with your build. The IS community seems really cool so far

      Haha yes, I have had my eye on a manual is300 for about 3 years now. Couldn't find one and bought a RSX type-S, recently sold it when I found this IS. I love the is300 it's really a great car. Thanks for the comment!

    Love the video! Subbed and looking forward to the build :)
    I have owned 3 IS300's (2 of which I currently drive regularly). It's been my dream build platform since I was 8 years old haha. I have an automatic 2005 "garage queen" getting a fully built engine and T56 Magnum in a few months, and a black 2002 factory manual + LSD L-Sportline full-bolt-on car that's my "daily drifter". Very addicting cars, you're going to love how it feels and sounds after coilovers and muffler delete! Those are the first 2 mods I did on the silver one and I couldn't stop driving it lol.

      Brother!! Thanks for the sub. Yep plan is to delete the muffler since there are 3 cats and a resonator already lol. Your 2005 sounds like a BEAST!! Yea even though the car is bone stock we are in love with how it drives, somehow it exceeded my expectations and Ive driven a lot of cars over the years. Do you have a YT channel? Would love to check it out.

      @@CarGuyFridays Thanks for the kind words! I've been thinking about starting a channel to document my build/swap when it really takes off next spring haha.
      I have a build thread on My.IS (easy to find when Googling "qwkslvr build thread" since my username is QWKSLVR_JCE10), and my build ig is @wali.jz. Definitely lmk if you're on either platform too!

    Great info. I didn’t know about the vvti bringing more torque on the mid range. I always wondered where it was going to kick in vtec style haha

    • @CarGuyFridays
      @CarGuyFridays  3 года назад

      Yes haha it would be so cool if it had a VTEC cam switchover. It's just advancing the timing on the intake cam but it does give a nice low end punch.

      @@CarGuyFridays they do make BC cams for this car and would love to see a before and after dyno for this while in NA form. Everyone says cams and exhaust cam gear degrees -3 is the best for peak power.

      @CarGuyFridays  3 года назад +1

      Yessir I plan to build the motor and turbo the car. Plans are for bc 264s and a gtx3582r. I think I've seen some dynos of cams on a NA vvt jz and it was in the range of 210-220whp which is at least 15 over the OEM cams
