Don't get me wrong, Minho is a fabulous rapper, however, I prefer Singer Minho anytime! He'd be a main vocalist in some other male groups imho. Love his high notes. Great reaction Austin. These are gorgeous songs that I adore.

I love that all of Shinee strives for improvement in whatever they do. Even now Onew has been busy with voice lessons (I think he and Taemin were taking them at the same time)...but all of them are still learning and they are not shy to say that they are learning. Its such a brilliant and inspiring thing about them as individuals, and a group. Also they support each other and also teach each other....I just am so proud of all of them
on the albums The Misconceptions Jonghyun has 5 songs written by him Spoiler, Selene 6.23, Orgel with Minho and Key on Rap, Dangerous, Better Off with Minho on rap, Minho has other songs like Excuse me miss and Aside on Rap this live if I'm not mistaken was at the fanmeeting (Special Party The Shining) when they did the last show before Onew went to the army when Taemin made a pig promise with Shawols to wait for Onew's return and of course SHINee and Onew said they will keep working hard as 5 to deserve the love of Shawols he said almost the same thing he did months before Beautiful Life and So Amazing was written by Onew SHINee is really a complete package not only as a vocal and dancing but also as a lyricist.
i remember spring of 2018, probably around mid march, I had just gotten through the worst winter of my life/worst semester of college (for various reasons) I had to drop out of my dream major because it wasn't working out, I was struggling in classes, and my mental health had just taken a dive that winter. But during midterms, I was walking around campus and it was the first day of the year where it reached above 50º (and this is in boston so basically summer), and the sun was out and suddenly beautiful life came on shuffle while I was sitting outside and it was the first time in MONTHS where I felt like I could breathe. I remember it so clearly, in the midst of all that stress and chaos in my life, I was finally able to center myself, even if just for 4 minutes, and it was those for minutes I think that really helped me get through the rest of the year. that song is so so special to me.

Although that concert is full of emotions, I have seen it multiple times and I enjoy watching it every time because it makes me feel like this is the one time where all Shawols are able to come together with SHINee and actually collectively support, grieve and celebrate together. That concert was the event that makes me feel the closest to the members and fans from all over the world because we are feeling these emotions together. It's super emotional, but it also shows just how important Shawols are to SHINee, and even though everyone, including the members, pretty much cried throughout the show, it was a great moment of catharsis for all of us because it gave us an opportunity to grieve all together. Their SHINee World 2018: The Best From Now On concert was held only about 2 months after Jonghyun died, but it had been planned for months prior to that, so the concert was sold out. Even through their grief the members didn't want to let the fans down and they decided they would continue the concert as planned. I like to think of it as more of a memorial and celebration than a concert. Jonghyun will always be present in everything SHINee does, which is why you could feel him in those live performances you watched even though he wasn't there. As the main vocalist and songwriter for several of SHINee's songs, it was Jonghyun's vocal color and style that shaped SHINee's signature sound. And as most longtime fans will tell you, we can hear Jonghyun's voice even in their new songs. However, although Jonghyun was the main vocalist, as you just heard, all the members are really main vocalists, which is why it is said that there are no fixed roles in SHINee any more. The rappers could fill in as main vocalists at any time and the vocalists are pretty good rappers.Taemin and Onew are the ones that have most often been tapped to fill Jonghyun's parts in most of their old songs, and even the parts that I think would have been his parts in their new songs. Taemin learned how to be a singer from Jonghyun, so his voice and vocal range is most like Jonghyun's, that is why he is the one to fill in for him most often. If you know Jonghyun's voice, you might notice that Taemin sounds a lot like Jonghyun, especially when he sings SHINee's songs. The members have all vowed that SHINee will always be 5 and that Jonghyun will always be involved in everything they do. And ever since their Best From Now On concert, when they perform the choreo for some of their most iconic songs they intentionally leave Jonghyun's spot open and only fill in for him when something just won't work without someone in that position. And they almost always leave a space open in the middle like you saw because Jonghyun was always the center position. I think we are going to have reminders of him in all that SHINee does from now on, and that is the way it should be. He was loved and will never be forgotten, and when possible, should always be involved in things that have to do with SHINee. Because they had been planning their Best From Now On concert for a long time before Jonghyun's death, everything was prepared with all five of them involved, so they had to go back and rework everything and learn how to do everything they would normally do without him. I am always impressed, because even though they were all super emotional, they were able to still sing so beautifully and were able to put on such a magnificent performance. And on top of all that, that concert was held in Japan, so most of the songs in the concert are in Japanese, so they weren't even singing in their native language. (The members of SHINee are fluent in Japanese, but even then I think it would make it even more challenging.) They deserve all the respect and admiration that they get. When you eventually get around to watching the whole Best From Now On concert, you will see that they left Jonghyun's voice in some of their songs, and they even had video clips from previous concerts of him on the big screen singing his parts of some songs, so not only will you get to hear him, but you will be able to see him as well.

Those who are Shawols tend to ‘hear’ Jjong in the 4* member performance precisely because of what you’re saying, they stepped up, but kept his style and ‘voice’ when they do his parts. Never feel hesitant to share your thoughts and feelings about them, it is always always nice to have your take on them. I agree about the vast improvements that every one took over whatever he used to do once he left, they promised us 5hinee and they kept it. Th piano bit in DCM we all loved came from from Minho requesting it be highlighted and much like Onew and Key ad-libbing and Taemin improv-ing? Their take, their way but definitely after more than a decade together we hear and see that’s precisely what Jjong would’ve done too.
This! I do feel like their sounds now still feel like they're 5. Never get what about it, but I read this comment and I couldn't agree more. They kept Jonghyun's style when they singing his part, so eventhough now it's only 4 of them, their whole performance still feel like they're complete.
I hope you could check out Jonghyun's She is album first. I think it's his best album, perfect from start to finish. And I think you would really enjoy the vibe of many of the songs on it.

Even back when I went to From Now On, which was their actual first concert without Jonghyun (just two months after), I told me friends that I went with that it seemed like when usual SHINee is already 150% at performances, that this performance was 200%. They were very emotional understandably, but outside of that it felt like they sang and danced with the energy of one more person who wasn't actually physically there. Key once said on camera that they had their concerns about how to go on with such a big presence missing (that is, Jonghyun). So you're not wrong. They aren't trying to replace him of course, nobody can, but they are working hard to make up for some of the talent that is just simply missing now.
i thought i was the only one who thinks they gave their 200% on from now on. i even feel a bit of angst? high octane from the beginning to the end. probably to overcome the emotional difficulties? idk. they're just marvelous
I know what you mean on them stepping up. I noticed that too, especially the younger 3 they really stepped up as to not overwhelm Onew with the responsibility. They really matured in a span of months and it was bittersweet to think what they overcame together.
From what I can see from other reactors reacting to SHINee, the only concert stages that you need to be wary with from them are ones from Tokyo Dome (sometimes not all the time but sometimes) but usually it's the ones uploaded onto SMTOWN or Universal Music Japan RUclips channels. And then of course the comeback stages. The live stage that you watched was from their last fan meet in Korea before Onew enlisted. It's full of hilarity and chaos as SHINee usually is lol. I'm sure you may have seen clips from it before with Taemin acting like the brat he is lol.
Aside is probably in my top 5 songs from them, it brings me back memories of when I first started listening to them and I would ride the bus in the summer listening to aside while looking out the window, it gives me such a warm feeling in my heart ♥️

I really love the fan meeting concert so so so much . Super Awesome performance even though it was just a fan meeting.1st time they performe their whole show with live band.No dancing,just only singing,but i enjoy their Vocal so much
if you do feel ready to watch the From Now On concert, i would highly recommend you to do so. like many have shared, it was their first concert since Jonghyun's passing and it was an incredibly emotional shared experience between SHINee and shawols. it's a testament for their love for one another, for shawols, for SHINee, and most importantly their love for Jonghyun.

I agree to this. I was actually there for the first two shows in Kyocera, and those were even a little more emotional then the ones in Tokyo Dome (where the recordings are from). Imagine 45k people crying together.... at the same time. It was hard, really hard, but it was kind of cathartic and like group therapy in a way. I understand Shawols who are afraid of watching it and I imagine seeing it on a screen vs being there with tens of thousands of people who UNDERSTAND, is different altogether. At the end of the day I think it's more healthy for oneself to face those emotions so you can move on (not forget....never forget... but life does go on, it must, eventually) than bottle them up and try to ignore them but have this underlying sadness all the time. I know Jonghyun wouldn't have wanted that for SHINee or his fans. Everyone needs to decide for themselves in the end though, I won't push anyone.

The Misconceptions album is from 2013, so Jonghyun was definetly in that album. As some have mention in previous comments, the live performance you watched is from the From now on concert held in 2018, only months after december 18. I also felt a swell of pride during the last performance. To add to your observation that they stepped up their performance especially in terms of vocals particularly Key, Minho and Taemin. I also felt that it was a show of support for their leader, Onew. Onew was at his lowest in terms of confidence in the beginning to mid 2018. It was great to see his dongsaengs giving him strength as they all heal together.

I get what you are trying to say with the remaining members stepping up a bit. Because that was one of the first things I've noticed about them post 2017 too as I got to know them last year. I kinda felt like everyone, but especially Taemin and Onew got more into those difficult vocals. All of them surely did but since it's said that Taemins voice has a distinct similarity with JongHyuns (maybe bc he like many other idols took vocal lesson's from Jjong) I feel like he did a tad bit more than usual. It was and still is hard for them for sure. It's also important to keep in mind that the members do not intend to fill the vast gap JongHyun left. They just try to maintain their unique SHINee sound shawols used to know and I'm really proud of them for that. They deserve the world.
SHINee stepping up --- yes I fully get what you mean. And actually if you watch SHINee From Now On concert 2018 (the video that suddenly popped up at the end -this concert was just 2 months after Jonghyun's passing), you'll really see it. How they sang there I felt they sound even better, like their vocals sounded different, it's hard to describe. I love SHINee's 1and1 album so much. Rescue is in my top 3 and ugh, that nostalgia sound is right up my alley! So happy to see you react to the live stage performances from SHINee's fan event - The Shining Party. This event is one of my favorite to re-watch due as the entire setlist focusing on their voices and has a lovely laidback atmosphere. Not to mention, that LIVE BAND was everything! One of my biggest wish from SHINee is to have an unplugged jam session with a live band. It would be so amazing!

So, it was a hard performance, not because they had to cover his parts but because of the empty space. They are all brilliant singers so they did great singing his lines but you can feel that they were trying hard to hold the tears. Again.. thanks for reacting to SHINee - group and solo. 'Aside' is my all-time SHINee fav B-Side. This song is a comforting song for me...like a warm blanket in winter. The lyrics are just a cherry on the top. The song is about unrequited love. Oh I agree with you so much about Key's voice when you were talking about it during Beautiful Life. He's my bias too (along with taemin hehe)! His voice has so much power and is so stable and strong. I love hearing him sing and when he gets a chance to go off, he really commands attention. I think that's one of the reasons so many people liked/paid attention to Bad Love (song and album). It really showcases Key's singing abilities well. I was so happy hearing you talk about his voice ☺️
Shinee world from now on 2018 is definitely a must watch especially as a shawol there is a specific performance that is really impactful and emotional it’s also from now on but it’s just one song
Yay! I'm so glad you reacted to these songs! If You Love Her is one of my favorite ballads. The Beatiiful Life + If You Love Her + Aside is one of my favorite ballad stages even though I wish they put more of If You Love Her and Beautiful Life in it. Jinki wrote Beautiful Life and I think he's the only one credited for the lyrics. 1 and 1 (and 1 of 1) was released in 2016 so the live stages we got of those songs of all 5 of them were what they performed in SWC5 to kind of promote that album. It's the last Korean album they made while Jonghyun was with us so unfortunately the rest of the songs we got live stages of (like Beautiful Life and If You Love Her) were in 2018 right after he passed. I still think the 4 of them did a great job with it but I would've loved to know what these ballads would've sounded like with all 5 of them. I love Aside as well, it's such a great song and they performed it again in 2021 on their anniversary but theres also an OT5 live version too. Minho vocals in this were so pretty though! I love Minho's singing voice, still wishing and hoping for a Minho solo album!! Also, love that you got your Dice album!! Thanks for your reaction, loved it as always!!
Correct me if I'm wrong but Onew participate in writing 'Beautiful Life', 'So Amazing' & 'Your Name'. I agree with you how all of them step up with their performance. And yess listen to Jonghyun's debut album! It's amazing. For 'From Now On' it's a bitter sweet performance. You need to prepare yourself to watch that. It's a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics and beautiful performance.

However, although Jonghyun was the main vocalist, as you just heard, all the members are really main vocalists, which is why it is said that there are no fixed roles in SHINee any more. The rappers could fill in as main vocalists at any time and the vocalists are pretty good rappers.Taemin and Onew are the ones that have most often been tapped to fill Jonghyun's parts in most of their old songs, and even the parts that I think would have been his parts in their new songs. Taemin learned how to be a singer from Jonghyun, so his voice and vocal range is most like Jonghyun's, that is why he is the one to fill in for him most often. If you know Jonghyun's voice, you might notice that Taemin sounds a lot like Jonghyun, especially when he sings SHINee's songs.
The members have all vowed that SHINee will always be 5 and that Jonghyun will always be involved in everything they do. And ever since their Best From Now On concert, when they perform the choreo for some of their most iconic songs they intentionally leave Jonghyun's spot open and only fill in for him when something just won't work without someone in that position. And they almost always leave a space open in the middle like you saw because Jonghyun was always the center position. I think we are going to have reminders of him in all that SHINee does from now on, and that is the way it should be. He was loved and will never be forgotten, and when possible, should always be involved in things that have to do with SHINee.
Because they had been planning their Best From Now On concert for a long time before Jonghyun's death, everything was prepared with all five of them involved, so they had to go back and rework everything and learn how to do everything they would normally do without him. I am always impressed, because even though they were all super emotional, they were able to still sing so beautifully and were able to put on such a magnificent performance. And on top of all that, that concert was held in Japan, so most of the songs in the concert are in Japanese, so they weren't even singing in their native language. (The members of SHINee are fluent in Japanese, but even then I think it would make it even more challenging.) They deserve all the respect and admiration that they get.
When you eventually get around to watching the whole Best From Now On concert, you will see that they left Jonghyun's voice in some of their songs, and they even had video clips from previous concerts of him on the big screen singing his parts of some songs, so not only will you get to hear him, but you will be able to see him as well.

Those who are Shawols tend to ‘hear’ Jjong in the 4* member performance precisely because of what you’re saying, they stepped up, but kept his style and ‘voice’ when they do his parts. Never feel hesitant to share your thoughts and feelings about them, it is always always nice to have your take on them.
I agree about the vast improvements that every one took over whatever he used to do once he left, they promised us 5hinee and they kept it. Th piano bit in DCM we all loved came from from Minho requesting it be highlighted and much like Onew and Key ad-libbing and Taemin improv-ing? Their take, their way but definitely after more than a decade together we hear and see that’s precisely what Jjong would’ve done too.

This! I do feel like their sounds now still feel like they're 5. Never get what about it, but I read this comment and I couldn't agree more. They kept Jonghyun's style when they singing his part, so eventhough now it's only 4 of them, their whole performance still feel like they're complete.
I hope you could check out Jonghyun's She is album first. I think it's his best album, perfect from start to finish. And I think you would really enjoy the vibe of many of the songs on it.

Jonghyun's White T-shirt is super fun and highly recommended! My favorite is the stage where he's actually wearing a white t-shirt, but they're all good.
Even back when I went to From Now On, which was their actual first concert without Jonghyun (just two months after), I told me friends that I went with that it seemed like when usual SHINee is already 150% at performances, that this performance was 200%. They were very emotional understandably, but outside of that it felt like they sang and danced with the energy of one more person who wasn't actually physically there.
Key once said on camera that they had their concerns about how to go on with such a big presence missing (that is, Jonghyun). So you're not wrong. They aren't trying to replace him of course, nobody can, but they are working hard to make up for some of the talent that is just simply missing now.
i thought i was the only one who thinks they gave their 200% on from now on. i even feel a bit of angst? high octane from the beginning to the end. probably to overcome the emotional difficulties? idk. they're just marvelous
I know what you mean on them stepping up. I noticed that too, especially the younger 3 they really stepped up as to not overwhelm Onew with the responsibility. They really matured in a span of months and it was bittersweet to think what they overcame together.
I recommend you Password especially Jonghyun's bridge it is breathtaking.... you have so many more beautiful ballads to go through
From what I can see from other reactors reacting to SHINee, the only concert stages that you need to be wary with from them are ones from Tokyo Dome (sometimes not all the time but sometimes) but usually it's the ones uploaded onto SMTOWN or Universal Music Japan RUclips channels. And then of course the comeback stages. The live stage that you watched was from their last fan meet in Korea before Onew enlisted. It's full of hilarity and chaos as SHINee usually is lol. I'm sure you may have seen clips from it before with Taemin acting like the brat he is lol.

if you do feel ready to watch the From Now On concert, i would highly recommend you to do so. like many have shared, it was their first concert since Jonghyun's passing and it was an incredibly emotional shared experience between SHINee and shawols. it's a testament for their love for one another, for shawols, for SHINee, and most importantly their love for Jonghyun.

I agree to this. I was actually there for the first two shows in Kyocera, and those were even a little more emotional then the ones in Tokyo Dome (where the recordings are from). Imagine 45k people crying together.... at the same time.
It was hard, really hard, but it was kind of cathartic and like group therapy in a way.
I understand Shawols who are afraid of watching it and I imagine seeing it on a screen vs being there with tens of thousands of people who UNDERSTAND, is different altogether. At the end of the day I think it's more healthy for oneself to face those emotions so you can move on (not forget....never forget... but life does go on, it must, eventually) than bottle them up and try to ignore them but have this underlying sadness all the time. I know Jonghyun wouldn't have wanted that for SHINee or his fans.
Everyone needs to decide for themselves in the end though, I won't push anyone.

The Misconceptions album is from 2013, so Jonghyun was definetly in that album. As some have mention in previous comments, the live performance you watched is from the From now on concert held in 2018, only months after december 18. So it was a concert with a totally different mood (specially for them of course).

They were from their fan meeting SPECIAL SHINING PARTY for their 10th debut anniversary held in South Korea(that is why they were singing in Korean). I also felt a swell of pride during the last performance. To add to your observation that they stepped up their performance especially in terms of vocals particularly Key, Minho and Taemin. I also felt that it was a show of support for their leader, Onew. Onew was at his lowest in terms of confidence in the beginning to mid 2018. It was great to see his dongsaengs giving him strength as they all heal together.

I get what you are trying to say with the remaining members stepping up a bit. Because that was one of the first things I've noticed about them post 2017 too as I got to know them last year. I kinda felt like everyone, but especially Taemin and Onew got more into those difficult vocals. All of them surely did but since it's said that Taemins voice has a distinct similarity with JongHyuns (maybe bc he like many other idols took vocal lesson's from Jjong) I feel like he did a tad bit more than usual.
It was and still is hard for them for sure.
It's also important to keep in mind that the members do not intend to fill the vast gap JongHyun left. They just try to maintain their unique SHINee sound shawols used to know and I'm really proud of them for that.
They deserve the world.

SHINee stepping up --- yes I fully get what you mean. And actually if you watch SHINee From Now On concert 2018 (the video that suddenly popped up at the end -this concert was just 2 months after Jonghyun's passing), you'll really see it. How they sang there I felt they sound even better, like their vocals sounded different, it's hard to describe. I hope you watch it soon.. though it was a bit emotional (and some shawols are not ready to see it) but it's also very beautiful and makes me proud as of SHINee. Personally Rescue is one of my favorite SHINee songs ever, but Beautiful Life makes me feel so many things too, like nostalgia and hope, and If You Love Her is so heartbreakingly beautiful is such a masterpiece. I love SHINee's 1and1 album so much. Rescue is in my top 3 and ugh, that nostalgia sound is right up my alley! So happy to see you react to the live stage performances from SHINee's fan event - The Shining Party. This event is one of my favorite to re-watch due as the entire setlist focusing on their voices and has a lovely laidback atmosphere. Not to mention, that LIVE BAND was everything! One of my biggest wish from SHINee is to have an unplugged jam session with a live band. It would be so amazing!

Anyway, not sure if someone has already mentioned, but the live performance (if you love her + beautiful life + aside) was from their Sep 2018 The Shining Fan Party - just 9 months after the coldest winter in the SHINee world... So, it was a hard performance, not because they had to cover his parts but because of the empty space. They are all brilliant singers so they did great singing his lines but you can feel that they were trying hard to hold the tears.

so i just binged your whole shinee playlist in the last couple of days, and i don't think i could have caught up on a better video than this one! i'm SO glad you came back and listened to these after realizing there was a repackage, because these are absolutely my favorite songs of the album along with tell me what to do. super excited for your key and jonghyun album listens! base is a good place to start (esp since you've already heard crazy and deja boo), and i'm holding out hope you'll get/react to story op 1 in the future as well

'Aside' is my all-time SHINee fav B-Side. This song is a comforting song for me...like a warm blanket in winter. The lyrics are just a cherry on the top. The song is about unrequited love. Hope you check out the song as OT5 too.

Oh I agree with you so much about Key's voice when you were talking about it during Beautiful Life. He's my bias too (along with taemin hehe)! His voice has so much power and is so stable and strong. I love hearing him sing and when he gets a chance to go off, he really commands attention. I think that's one of the reasons so many people liked/paid attention to Bad Love (song and album). It really showcases Key's singing abilities well. I was so happy hearing you talk about his voice ☺️

Yay! I'm so glad you reacted to these songs! If You Love Her is one of my favorite ballads. The Beatiiful Life + If You Love Her + Aside is one of my favorite ballad stages even though I wish they put more of If You Love Her and Beautiful Life in it. Jinki wrote Beautiful Life and I think he's the only one credited for the lyrics. 1 and 1 (and 1 of 1) was released in 2016 so the live stages we got of those songs of all 5 of them were what they performed in SWC5 to kind of promote that album. It's the last Korean album they made while Jonghyun was with us so unfortunately the rest of the songs we got live stages of (like Beautiful Life and If You Love Her) were in 2018 right after he passed. I still think the 4 of them did a great job with it but I would've loved to know what these ballads would've sounded like with all 5 of them. I love Aside as well, it's such a great song and they performed it again in 2021 on their anniversary but theres also an OT5 live version too. Minho vocals in this were so pretty though! I love Minho's singing voice, still wishing and hoping for a Minho solo album!! Also, love that you got your Dice album!! Thanks for your reaction, loved it as always!!
