What about the heat shields on the original exhaust pipe? I had my fuel lines replaced. Started leaking at the rear left wheel where they had a heat shielding sleeve. Common problem. The Chevy dealer did not replace the heat shielding sleeve. He said it was not needed. I worry about it. I want to get a new exhaust, but the new exhaust system does not have heat shields welded on. The fuel lines are close to the exhaust system.
Yes, the fuel lines were rotten under the heat wrap on this one as well. The new pipe does not have the heat shield, but I don’t think it makes much difference. I’m not worried about it because it’s far enough back that most dangerous heat has dissipated by the time it gets there. It may be warm, but not enough to melt a steel or rubber line. Especially if they are a few inches away.
Why not just weld flanges on the muffler and the pipe? Would just have to put gaskits and flange of your choice and then easy to replace latter you would also have better welds
