THE LIVING LEGEND
Padmashree Simon Oraon recognized as a King of 12 Padha ( 51 Villages) since 1964. According to him "Jameen Aur Pani hi Kisaan ki Punji hai" and this thing he realized long time ago, now he has taken the initiative to make others understand the same. He has been working selflessly to encourage people to live in harmony with nature.He says, “Fighting among ourselves gives us nothing, but fighting with land gives us our daily bread." He is also known for his intillectual consultation in various issues and disputes among the villagers, his knowledge for herbal medicines (naturopathy) for various diseases and his initiative for "Jal Jungle Jameen Movement”.
His knowledge of nature as well as his leadership skills have won him the respect of various tribes and religions in the state.
Padmashree Simon Oraon for past seven decades, has been teaching fifty one villages in Bero area and other parts of Jharkhand, to protect their environment. He is popularly as "Baba", he has been working towards the better rainwater harvesting and conservation of nature.
His major achievements includes leading his people in the construction of Three Dams, Seven Ponds, Three Canals ( 7000Ft.), numerous wells.
