As someone who watches Dollightful all the time; when it comes to hair she usually says to make the lengths of yarn double the length of what you need for the wefts, as a rough guide, because of how much you brush out. She also uses a pet hair brush which works best for brushing out yarn. But this was amazing! I love this Krampus!

My point is Anthony, is allowed to do things his own way and shouldn't be told to do it the same way Also these were the only times he used yarn, Dollightful and Hex are doll customizers meaning they work with it all the time, it's like telling someone who only grew lemons twice but mostly grows apples to grow their lemons like 2 seperate popular lemon growers

This project looks so AMAZING. 🌟 For yarn hair I've seen lots of doll artists use a wire pet brush if that helps. The wires in it are much finer and closer together.
Yarn fibers are about four inches long, so completely untwisting and brushing them out would have made a much shorter beard. I think the method that Ace used was just fine. Besides, it made the beard look a little matted which adds to the look. 😊
You've made an artdoll sculpture, and I'm in awe. The dirty grimy details, the chains, the expression, and the fabric-! There's something special about using multiple media in projects. Maybe it's the texture or the realistic appearance! You absolutely nailed it, man!
THIS IS OUTSTANDING! I do a lot of Krampus items and I love this head - another new great look. A tip about Stiffy - it is simply watered down PVA glue (we often use it for cheesecloth ghosts). Mod Podge just has an extra chemical. Your problem was the fabric - neither like polyester, prefer natural fiber (cotton). Another tip - put your liquid in a ziploc bag and put your fabric in (uses less than a bowl), squish it around to saturate and then pull it out using the top edge as a squeegee. This keeps the mess less! Thank you for all your work, techniques, lessons and just flat out great entertainment!!!!!
Poppen Atelier makes doll hair out of yarn often and the way she does it is so effective. You should maybe watch some of her videos if you ever do this kind of thing again.

This is so fricken cool! I would love to see more of this kind of thing, how about some sirens/mermaids or maybe a horror elf (you could lean into christmas elf as it's the holiday season or go more fantasy)

Love the fact you point out the lint in the clay, I can never keep my clay clean either, so that and you saying you are nervous about painting him is so brilliant, it just makes you more grounded and reassuring to other artists. He is awesome, ah those hands! His coat, the whole look of him is brilliant, love him 😮
Man, every figure you make is a pure masterpiece, but this one takes the cake for me. So much intricate detail on such a large scale model, it's just too cool!! Well done!!
Really enjoyed this video but have a couple of suggestions for you: I think Krampus needs A few details such as a chin, a large wicker basket for tossing bad children into and some birch branches clutched in his left hand that he uses to whip the feet of the children as well. If you are a die-hard Krampus Fan then you will probably want to add a snake like tongue also. For ease of creating the hair pick up a draw card called a Hackle. It will make creating any hair you want a bit easier. Nice work here! If you are interested in more "Cloth Mache'" I highly recommend you take a look at Dan Reader's Book "The Simple Screamer". Quick question: Can you please tell me the make of the larger sculpting tool you use with the brass elongated ball on one end and the brass pointy on the other? I can almost make out the brand on the handle in the frame of your video where you are inserting the unpainted horns but not quite. Thanks!
As a person who isn't -super- into Christmas, I will gladly make an exception for Krampus. He's perfect btw. Well done! Hope the epoxy sculpt didn't give you too much trouble like it did while sculpting the dragon head.
He is stunning! The details are intense, he is so creepy! You did an amazing job, we are proud of you too ❤️ Seeing the struggle with the yarn I suggest next time trying needle felting wool (merino specifically) because it is already smoothed out and can be matted easily between your fingers for texture. Also, this did not feel like a long video, it was fascinating to see your process ❤️
Yessssss! The shadow of St.Nicolas! I love the Krampus movie so much, it was the first horror movie I’ve ever watched, and I’ve been able to convince my family to make it a Family tradition to watch it every Christmas season! Also, a fact about the movie: It was based of of movies like Dark Crystal, Gremlins, and The Labyrinth. (So everything is puppets!)
when he was bending the armature for the hands i got the familiar shiver of arachnophobia but truly this sculpture is beautiful, amazing, dandy, and just plain inspiring

Dollightful uses the thicker version of the thin yarn you used. I think it is called acrylic yarn. Not sure. But you did awesome with krampus regardless!!! I love it. Oh and a pet flea comb works wonders to come out the yarn.

Re the hair/beard: You needed to take apart the wool to start with. Ya know, how you said it is made of more than one smaller twisted thread.... untwist that first.... THEN brush it out. A wire pet brush is best because if has finer teeth. That said, you did awesome! Just trying to save you time going forwards. x

I subscribed to your channel last year and have loved all of your amazing details you add to your sculptures. You are incredibly talented and awesome! Loved your very detailed work. You are so inspiring, I can’t say it enough, I love your work! I am a mixed media Crafter [ Running With Scissors Mixed Media Arts (definitely NOT on your scale)] and I use a lot of the same products that you do, perhaps these tips might be of use to you. Pour your Mod Podge in a zip lock bag and squish it until saturated. Mix a strong solution of warm water and Instant coffee in a spray bottle for “antiquing” or dirtying up your project. Try using alcohol ink to change the color of metals. The color mushroom is perfect for this. On another note, I sent this video to my son ( who I think looks like you... that’s why I tuned in the very first time) Shawn said he even thought it was him at first! My 97 year old mother (long time portrait artist) always wants to watch you when she visits! We all love and appreciate your many talents, LOVED Krampus!

I’ve heard that a mineral spirits/oil paint makes the best washes, ever try that? Glad you got the yarn hair worked out! The fibres are at most 3 inches long, so when fully brushed out (with a hair brush or cat brush, those bristles of yours are too stiff if you don’t want it straggly) you have to get creative for length, and generally you start from the bottom up when applying to the head, like adding shingles. He’s sooo wicked!!! Love him sooo much!!! Great job buds!!!

This is a crazy cool project. I little advice with the beard. The best way to make great doll hair out of yarn is to unravel it first and brush it out with a slicker brush you would brush your cats or dogs with. They have delicate, bendy, thin L shaped bristles to keep from hurting the animals and only 5 bucks at walmart. Buying a bulkier yarn is easier to work with. I learned how this works by watching (Poppen Atelier) on youtube making flawless barbie hair from scratch only using yarn. Hope this helps. I really love your videos and I'm loving this one in particular. Thank you so much for all your hard work putting in these videos. It really shows. You rock my dude!!!

To brush yarn out for hair, you want to use a cat brush. HeXtian uses both a plastic and metal brush. You can also then take a flat iron to the yarn to smooth it out. If you watch any of his videos, you can see what he does to make hair for his dolls
I LOVE this , I'm not a big spooky creepy fan but love watching you sculpt and create such amazing art, this is like those doll Santa's you see in the shop windows but Krampus version too cool

Spectacularly magnificent! Love it! By the way, you may be able to save your "yellow" apoxie sculpt. The yellow is basically the resin rising to the top. Microwave it in the container for 10 second intervals, stirring after each 10 seconds until it remixes. Usually works so try it.
This would be pretty cool as a tree topper if you're into that. I believe Dollightful uses a pet brush to get the yarn to floof out, after she unravels the woven strands. The brush you were using might have been a little too harsh

another thing that might help when brushing out the yarn, tie it to a skewer with a larks head to secure it while you're brushing :)
This is a crazy cool project. I little advice with the beard. The best way to make great doll hair out of yarn is to unravel it first and brush it out with a slicker brush you would brush your cats or dogs with. They have delicate, bendy, thin L shaped bristles to keep from hurting the animals and only 5 bucks at walmart. Buying a bulkier yarn is easier to work with. I learned how this works by watching (Poppen Atelier) on youtube making flawless barbie hair from scratch only using yarn. Hope this helps. The grime on Krampus suit is soot from all the chimneys he has came through.

Furries use a dog brush on yarn to make tails. It works really really well.

An old-fashioned ACE comb is the best tool I've found for brushing out yarn. Look in your grandfather's bathroom if you've got one.
Love it, especially how the robes turned out. Btw use a cat or small dog slicker brush for turning yarn into hair.

To brush yarn out for hair, you want to use a cat brush. HeXtian uses both a plastic and metal brush. You can also then take a flat iron to the yarn to smooth it out. If you watch any of his videos, you can see what he does to make hair for his dolls
I LOVE this , I'm not a big spooky creepy fan but love watching you sculpt and create such amazing art, this is like those doll Santa's you see in the shop windows but Krampus version too cool

For the yarn hair you need to separate the strands before your start brushing it.

Spectacularly magnificent! Love it! By the way, you may be able to save your "yellow" apoxie sculpt. The yellow is basically the resin rising to the top. Microwave it in the container for 10 second intervals, stirring after each 10 seconds until it remixes. Usually works so try it.

This would be pretty cool as a tree topper if you're into that. I believe Dollightful uses a pet brush to get the yarn to floof out, after she unravels the woven strands. The brush you were using might have been a little too harsh
