Waltz of Absurdities (original composition)

- This waltz is quite simple but I liked the way it turned out.
I used the solo VSTs of Musesounds because it sounded too much "orchestral" with the sections.
I came up with the name by thinking of all the absurdities we can see every day.
Anyways, I hope you'll enjoy it!
You are unbelievable !!
You should do the arrengement if you have the time and inclination :) of Ponyo's music. The one where she transforms into a human or when she escapes. The theme is brass, while the violins play a sort of trill, creating an absolutely poignant atmosphere.

Merci beaucoup! Les musique des Ghibli sont incroyable et parmi mes préférées! (comme le compositeur). En soi la musique est déjà orchestré avec des vrais instruments. Donc les instruments de musescore sonnerait nettement moins bien.
Je pense pas avoir le niveau pour faire du Joe Hisaishi mais merci pour la proposition😅

Thanks!! Most of my pieces for solo piano are ragtimes but I think there are pieces that can be played by a solo piano because I almost always start composing from the piano.
This is so good, melody got stuck in my head for days so had to come back and listen again!
ps ur arranging for each instrument is always something that makes u stand out from other composers

Well I wish I had a magic formula for creating good melodies😅. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not.
I can give you some tips but keep in mind that I didn't study any forms of composing class.
- The basic rule is to start with the melody that corresponds to the starting chord (you can also use an upbeat, anacrusis, etc.(I don't know how it's called in english)). At the beginning, in C major, you can start with C, E, G
But you can also use the second (D), the sixth (A), the seventh (B) and so on. This will create a different atmosphere in your music. Sometimes I try thinking a bit like a "jazzman" when I'm writing.
- A melody can simply play the chord. Sometimes a part of the melody might just play an arpeggio and it sounds good!
- Don't be afraid to suddenly use big leaps between notes, like a fifth or even an octave. (or more!) Or when you can't find the next note, you can just stay on the same note.
- An IMPORTANT thing for me is repetition. Don't be afraid to use lots of repetition. You can either literally repeat the same melody a second time, or use the same melodic pattern by changing the notes (I've forgotten the name of this technique).
Or even use the same melody over and over while the chord progressions goes on.
- In this piece I used some chromatic stuff. Sometimes I move the notes up or down, just a semitone, to build tension. (I used this at 0:45 and 0:49 for example).
- When I write, I try to tell myself that if I can sing and remember the melody easily, it's a good one. This advice isn't always true tho, sometimes the melody is difficult to remember and sing but it's a beautiful one.
I hope it's clear because explaining something in english (I speak french) is difficult😅

I really like these miniatures you are writing, very nice light textures and a flair for melody. You say this music is ‘quite simple’ and it is to an extent, but often writing simple is the clever thing to do!

I also love how the viola (alto), the double bass (contrabasse) and the cello (violincelle) aren't involved in a solo, it's so crazy.
