I have to say, being an advanced user of Fusion 360 myself, it is often hard to point novice users to a video that shows what I consider the best work approach of using planes, sketches, and object creation. Now I have one!
Thanks Michael!
You're far and away the best on all of RUclips for teaching Fusion 360. Most content providers think that it doesn't matter how fast they click and mouse around. We can always pause and back up, right? NO! Repeatedly doing that creates confusion. I spend all my time backing up and hoping I can stop at just the right place to see when they did something. A simple little thing like finishing sketch without announcing it and slowly moving your mouse to it can completely through me off. Please... don't change your style of teaching.
@Bill Byrd- Thank you very much for the kind feedback. I really appreciate it. I'm glad you are finding the LiveStreams useful.
All things you're teaching makes sense, Thanks for Great Video
From Korea, Republic of
Thank you! Help spread the word!
I've just run across this site and let me tell you are the first one that gets to the point without all the side dribble like the majority of RUclips 'instructors'. Thank you. Keep it up. well done.
We love Brad too!
brad your a excellent teacher/comunicator
Hi, i'm a learner. I found a lot of tutorials, but this one is one of the best. Hope to see more and more.
@Sandor- Thank you. Make sure you subscribe to the channel so you can see more tutorials from Brad
This video helped me out tremendously thank you.
Way more easy than Solidworks! Thank you
We're going to agree with you on that, but yes, we're 100% biassed.
Brad, You are an excellent teacher. Sensibly paced content, which explains not just the hows, but also the whys. Look forward to more videos - I always learn a few new tricks when I watch them.
Brad is a natural WITH years of experience. Thanks again for checking in, Ian!
Interesting! We all seem to have our own way of getting from A to B to C.
For me the approach // way of looking at the various aspects and the order in which you tackle them, were the most interesting of this tutorial.
Thnx.
@W.P. Yep, there are probably many different ways to create this part. The way I did it may be different than how the designer did it and could be different from how you would do it. There's really no right or wrong way.
Oh man, you did absolutely perfect job! You are great teacher. Thank you very much for this LiveStream. 👍🏻
that was very interesting tutorial, looking forward to the next one. thank you!
All month... And maybe even more going forward. Gotta pull some strings.
Thank you for a really clear presentation. Absolutely brilliant pace. I cannot wait for the next one, thanks again.
Very detailed and simple explanation, Thank you Brad.
* The use of Intersect command is very useful
I would do the following also:
1- the hexagon needs constraint
2- cut the big slot first then create the smaller slot (min 30:00)
Thanks again
@Auday- Yes, I agree. I should have cut the big slot first, and then cut the small slot only in the negative direction. Thank you for your insight!
In the middle of building one now. Also did the CAD for several components and hope to use the CAM to recreate some parts out of aluminum.
Awesome! See here for some great CAM lessons: f360ap.autodesk.com/courses#creating-toolpaths-and-programs-cam
@Thomas- Please share some pictures when you are done!
Best Fusion 360 guide I have seen, well done!!
as a beginner to fusion 360 yer vids are amazing!
Excellent demonstration, inspiring to start own constructions with this fascinating application!
This is BRILLIANT!
Thank you for a great lesson.
I look forward to seeing more.
Thanks for almost a book full of information and excellent explanation in a single drawing.
Best Fusion series so far
Excellent video. Thanks bro.👍👍
great video i needed this type of lesson for a project i am working on.
Nicely paced, packed with clearly explained tips, and a really satisfying example model. Thank you!
Great part. It has my wheels turning on things I want to design. The offset plane is a must
Wow! You are a great teacher. Thanks for being so detailed and methodical. Learned so much from this one video and I've been using Fusion for years.
Lots of great tips and tricks here. Much appreciated. Thanks
Very helpful video, thanks for doing this.
Thanks for watching!
What an amazing tutorial. I've learned a ton!
Thanks Brad!!
Great video! I had some problems with rails and this cleared it all up! Thanks.
Excellent job Brad.
Another satisfied customer. 👍
Always great to hear! Thank you!
Really great tutorial, thanks!
Thanks Ron!
Brads back on deck for today and Thursday!
Great stream, if you watch it at 1.75 speed, haha. It's kinda slow, but glad I watched it.
Brad's pace is perfect for others, but nice that RUclips allows for that! Brads back on deck today and Thursday!
wow that was very cool
Holy shiet, one of THE most useful tutorials I've seen yet. You just helped me solve the design issue I was having, thank you much!!!
very nice! learned a ton!
Great to hear!
Great video, will help me tidying up my designs with some cool features, I was sure there were easier ways to get the results I was getting on my designs and now I've discovered some...thanks
Righteous.
Excellent
Thank you so much!
And please make a video for rendering module ,in which how can we set a realistic image on the background of design
@Navtej- I did a LiveStream on Rendering Tips and Tricks a few weeks ago on my channel. ruclips.net/video/mMsS0BFAq0E/видео.html
Make sure you subscribe so you know when upcoming LiveStreams are happening.
Extremely Useful and educative - so much appreciated!
Thanks Peter for the kind words!
@@adskFusion My greatest 'frustration' with Fusion360 has been its ( relatively) poor 'teaching/learning' capabilities in built compared to (say) solid works AND a lack of a co-ordinated system of learning for the beginner. Its seems that the assumption has been (largely) that people will 'migrate' to Fusion from somewhere however, I don't think anyone is going to migrate from Solid Works the industry standard at this stage - if/when Autodesk include an inbuilt contextual/command teaching/learn mode ala Solidworks - it will see the product jump exponentially up the amenity and utility curve. The only (then) remaining 'stop' to being taken more seriously will be a definite resolution to pricing for a SAS in Cloud programme - this is the greatest 'concern' that people have in terms of longer term 'commitment'. I say this as a beginning 'hobbyist' climbing the learning curve - but I have friends with manufacturing businesses whose 'fear' is actually being held captive to the potential of an ever increasing price and their work in someone's Cloud - being seen as a 'trap'. Perhaps Autodesk might remove such concerns by a clear statement of intent and a transparent if you want to here is how you can save your work - where you want to policy and implementation.
You might be surprised to hear this - but your set of videos have been (by FAR) the most useful on line teaching / learning experience I have come across and have resurrected ( in me) interest in investing the time to learn Fusion360. I have learned more carefully watching 3-4 of your videos and taking notes than 50 other videos from various sources which have added up to being a waste of time - full of jumbled and confused intent.
Anyway since you are an employee at autodesk I thought you might like the feedback FWIW and once again many thanks.
Pete
A response to this will take a little more time than usual. Look for that tomorrow.
Great work, Brad. Could you please provide more videos on freeform modeling? Thanks.
We've been hearing this pretty often! Expect to see something on this subject soon!
Great tips and advice.
Thanks Brock! Brads back on Tuesday this week with another great live stream! Join the live version next time if you can.
Great lessons Brad !
Thanks Andy!!
Better than many but like so many tutorials, this jumps steps and leaves me saying, "Hey, wait, how did you do that! Where did that come from? What did you do there?"
I HAVE BEEN MASTERING 3DS MAX SINCE 2006, BUT THE FUSION 360 GIVES MORE EXCITEMENT TO THE DESIGNED WHEN IT COMES TO QUICK AND PRECISE SKETCHING AND PUNCHING HOLES, ETC. IT GIVES ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE IN THE INDUSTRY!
Thank Jesus! It's all about using the right tool for the job.
I'd really like to see a tutorial where you teach how to create models where you can change dimensions without having constraints issues, and what to think on doing such models.
Great video, but I have two questions. I am using Fusion 360 on a Mac and the menu layouts are different. For example I do not have a 'design; option on the left hand drop down and I do not have a 'constraints' panel at the top, only in the floating item options window. Is the menu layout in the Windows version radically different to the Mac version?
Secondly I do not seem to be able to add a fillet to the 2D sketch of the base. When I select fillet the view jumps to a 3D view and yet I still cannot apply a fillet to any of the edges. Yet I know I can apply a fillet to a 3D volume.
Am I missing something?
To your first point, Brad is using the preview UI. Check preferences > preview UI.
To your second point, it sound like you're selecting a fillet feature, rather than a sketch fillet. Try grabbing the fillet tool from the sketch menu instead (when you search, it's hard to tell the two apart).
Ah, I see. Many thanks! This is my first week of trying to learn Fusion. I am blow away by how comprehensive it is. It is very cool. You answered both my questions.@@adskFusion
I made a nozzle for my vacuum cleaner and wondered why the lofting I did came out weird. Now I can fix it.
Nice! I tried doing the same on 'Danfoss Turbocore Compressor CAP'...The compressor 'CAP' has got similar grooves. I sucessfully created 'Circular grooves' but I failed to create 'rectangular grooves'.
Awesome tutorial but I don´t know, how can you navigate so smoothly with the camera?
He uses a 3d mouse. Check his latest live stream (posted Tuesday) where he took a moment to discuss this.
My version as of 2-12-21, will not allow selection of fillets from sketch shortcuts, must choose from toolbar. I'm stuck at "paste". I've started over and over again but cannot get paste to come up on the menu. Help!
Can you point me in the direction of a video that would show me how to add objects inside of a loft? For example, a glider/airplane fuselage and add support structures inside of the fuselage? And/or add a vertical servo mount? The issue I'm having is that i can draw the support structure, but when extruding, it doesn't follow the path of the fuselage. It cuts through the fuselage.
Super 👍 Thx! 😄
Speaking of _Autodesk Adding..._ What're the chances Autodesk will _Add_ the removed/replaced yellow lightbulb ON/OFF icon with some yellow color? Zilch... 🙈✌
4FunRC- The changes from the lightbulb to the eye was done to make many of the Autodesk programs similar in design and functionality.
@@adskFusion Yes, I've read that... my offhand question wasn't worded very well. I understand Autodesk's plan and it makes sense, albeit I was thinking along the lines of keeping the "eye" icon and adding a bit of color (yellow, perhaps... outline or solid color) to help the User's of Autodesk's products with ON/OFF state visibility.
Regardless, I appreciate your reply... Thank you.
Jim Gaffigan: Slot pockets.
Hi, do you know how to model spirgrips ? I can't find any model online ....
We don't even know what that is. I mean, a quick search and we now know, but considering how obscure that is we probably won't be doing a demonstration on that anytime soon. That said, use the sculpt/form workspace and that should be relatively simple! Check this out for similar guidance: ruclips.net/video/rYINV0zBXbg/видео.html.
Why won't my sketch allow fillets? When I select fillet it kicks me out of design sketch and I can't select edges to fillet?
You're selecting the fillet feature, rather than the sketch fillet. They look the same!
Didn't realize there was a Sketch fillet, your screen looked like you grabbed it from the same place I was trying. In fact your whole menu bar is different. I don't have a "Design" button, I'm in "Model" Sketch.
We're using the new UI. You can turn it on or off in preferences > preview. ruclips.net/video/-lGrl66d6QE/видео.html
By the way, is there any chance to download this layout? Seems really helpful!
The layout? Sorry, not sure what you mean by that? Do you mean the UI? Brad is using the preview UI, check this video for more info: ruclips.net/video/-lGrl66d6QE/видео.html
@@adskFusion yep that´s what I meant! Thanks so much!!!
Troche słabo widać szczegóły na rysunkach, ale ogólnie jest ok.
You forgot to delete the first 3:30.
Sir ,can you help me to gave some online work with fusion on freelancing sites
I'll let Brad reply to that...
@Navtej- Due to Conflict Of Interest, I can't help create parts for other companies or webpages. However, I do recommend you keep watching our material and in no-time, you will be better at Fusion 360 than I am...
Could you now CAM the part? Excuse me...manufacture.
Gotta use a terminology to allow for more flexibility. Lots of great stuff coming! That said, we will be adding new --CAM-- manufacturing live streams soon.
I Nearly failed my project due to the slow performance of this App.
It doesn't really make sense for fusion to create those copied lines upside down! Something is just weird behaviour imho!
Sorry, at what time are you referring to?
@@adskFusion 20:43
Ahh, I see what you're talking about. Copying and pasting items like that can get wonky depending on orientation of parts relative to one-another, as well as plane orientations/origins. That is a bit unexpected in this example, to say the least!
I wish the extrude features were color coded in the timeline. Red for a cut, blue for a join, white for a new body...
Whoa! Me like.
Fantastic idea
Great idea!! Would be very helpfull in finding your way around the timeline!!
@Rok- Wow! What a great idea. It definitely would be easier to determine what "operation" was used. Please share this on the Idea Station! forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation/idb-p/125/tab/most-recent
.
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of faith that the idea station gets more than 2-3% of users actually view and participate (do you have stats?). I did however submit it here forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-ideastation/color-coded-timeline/idi-p/8664357 if anyone would like to vote on it.
thank you a lot !
Thanks for watching!
Awesome, I feel honored that you like my part! Lots of teaching in this video, nice work.
I was just thinking that it looked very similar to the feet on MPCNC...lol
@Ryan- Yes, your design is incredible. I have always wanted to build a 3D Printed CNC machine and after a lot of research, your's came out on top.
Right? Small World Ryan! lol
Awesome , and I like ur teaching in fusion
Another twist on the guide rails is to do a move/copy on the spline within the first sketch and 3D rotate the other two splines, keeping them in the sketch
Oh! I'll have to try that!
I believe 3D sketching is a setting you have to enable in the options before you can do that, but yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing.
Great video! Taught me a lot :) Really interested in more videos like this.
Good news! We're making more videos like this!
Brad already has many awesome videos just like this on his own channel ruclips.net/channel/UCLEVULiWognkczOpDSGSlFgvideos
@@spikekent Thanks for the shout-out! I appreciate it.
learnt a lot from this thanks will defiantly come in handy.
The direction command on loft profile is huge. Thank you.
I have watched many Fusion 360 videos from other people and learned a little bit from each. Brad has taught me more in this one video than all the other ones combined. I will definitely watch all existing and future videos of his.
Every Tuesday and Thursday all the month of March, and beyond!
22:00, I believe you could have made just 1 sketch line, and did a circular pattern around the origin. But this is great "basic" stuff that is good to see and excellent explanation of not only how to do something, but WHY.
I was kinda freaking out that you never once saved your file. lol
Why the hell can I not drag sketches from the main top-level down into the god damn component they belong in!!!!! WHY????? I started the model in the top-level then realize I want it in a component so I convert body in the top level to the component but now all my sketches and construction planes I still in the top god damn top-level and I cannot drag them down into the component in which they belong!!!!! This is basically a RUINED model!!!! The only way I can fix this is to totally fucking start all over!!!!! I cannot tell you how many fucking times I get HOURS into a fucking model only to do this and the model is fucking ruined and I have to fucking start all over!!!!! It is too easy to do this, you get no warning, no clues you are doing it until it is to god damn late to fix it! This make fusion 360 garbage to me. I cannot afford to have to model the same thing multiple times because of this!
What is worse is I did not realize I was in the top-level until after I created the top-right slot hole!!!! So now when I convert the body to component and try to pattern, even when I select the slot hole and the other features and circular pattern I do not get the fucking hole!!! I mean Jesus-H-Fucking christ I am ready to go to the shed, get a fucking sledgehammer and beat the fuck out of the computer it is so frustrating!!!!!!!
You should not even be allowed to add or model at a top-level!!!!! Force people into a single component and don't even let them create multiple components in a single file to prevent this. There is no point in allowing this behavior if it just ruins hours and hours of modeling time!!!!!
Here is another thought just make it so you model everything at the top level then have an option that says okay make this ALL into a component and do the logical thing and just copy EVERY f-ing thing - sketches, bodies, construction planes into a new component. This way when you 6 hours into a god damn model and realize you forgot to start in a component you can just make all your work into a component!
There just has to be a way to correct this problem without having to completely start over!
I've watched numerous tutorials on F360 and this was by far the best so far. Everything you used you explained in detail so it was very easy to follow for a beginner. Great work, thank you!
Really learned a lot, so I really appreciate this video and your efforts.
One of my biggest problems is, I don't get to use F-360 on a continuous-basis, so I will make a part then have to relearn everything again later.
So, I now figure, I need to occasionally make a F-360 part even if I never use it; but do it on a regular basis time permitting.
Anyway, from one instructor to another, you do a great job... Thanks!
Thank you so much much for this tutorial I have found it so instructive and useful.
You have gained another subscriber 👍
"It came in upside-down for whatever reason" .... and this is on Autodesk's actual channel, imagine the crap actual users are having to deal with every day...
Far out. Great teacher. I learned a lot of great techniques. Thanks.
Back on today and Thursday!
Fantastic video! Thank you.
I really don't like that the file tabs now stretch the whole length of the window until you open more... I don't know if it's just because I'm used to the old style or if it's an inherent thing, but this last update really just looked ugly to me.
Luckily, this is a program for engineers so aesthetics aren't that important, but I wanted to make sure someone said something.
Hontely, I'm in the same boat. I think that decision was made because that's how some internet browsers work. It DOES help to see the full file name, but will take a little getting used to.
HHH really awesome. 2 days ago start learning fusion by accident. Usually work 3ds max but now with fusion i feel lost i dont know how will come good at fusion quickly. Any advice?
If someone clicks "dislike" on this video I'm going to subscribe to their channel because they'd better have some damn good tutorial videos they've created on there. :)
Haters gonna hate. We'll just keep doing our thing.

55 minutes full of useful things, nothing superfluous. Thank you very much, you are a fantastic teacher.
He really is! Thanks for watching!
The slot position - stated to be 26mm, if the initial rectangle is in fact to be 53mm - and the point you use to dimension it (inner point in the slot) - is 26 - then the slot itself goes on the outside, or what am I missing? Thanks by the way, I do learn a lot :)
Thanks for this video tutorial, need more tools aplication that can make easier desain especialy surface model
Many thanks just discovered your channel
Well That's a lot of stuff one again thanks for all this, can't wait to use it
