Wrong ship, that was USS Enterprise. Yorktown sank at Midway from aircraft via Hiryuu. What happened was they mistook the burning Yorktown for Enterprise and then went for the ACTUAL Enterprise which still had aircraft up and shot down majority of the planes going in for the attack. But it's easy to get them mixed up because Yorktown, Enterprise, and Hornet were all Yorktown class aircraft carriers. The main difference between the 3 is Enterprise survived the war.

US Carriers in the Pacific were much less likely to be found, much less likely to be attacked succesfully and were subjected to smaller bombs and therefore opted for more aircraft storage at the expense of armor
