- A short video detailing four main genus of carnivorous plants and their first signs of coming out of dormancy within an unheated greenhouse. Even showing several species of sub-tropical Drosera which have died down to the roots during a harsh winter and now coming back.

Really nice to see another video from you. Seeing my flytraps and sundews coming back as well.
Thank you! Hope your collection does great this year, happy growing! 😁☺️
My collection has expanded so much!! Last year had 3 sarracenia flowers and now I have over 28!
That’s great! It’s definitely an addictive hobby, it isn’t until the growing season you realise how many plants you have 😁
Great video 📹 👍
Thank you 😁
liked and subscribed, nice video well done
Thank you very much 😁
My Drosera have leapt back in to life in the last week, lots of new growth and dew., all very exciting. Your greenhouse is going to look amazing in a few months.
Thank you! It’s definitely a very exciting time of year, I can’t wait to see what this year brings! 😁
Spring is here! 21 pots of flytraps re-potted and ready for the year! My binatas are waking up slowly but surely too. I have a ping grandiflora coming hopefully soon too! Can't wait!
Have fun!
Spring is officially here indeed and I can’t wait to see what it brings! Glad you finally got hold of a Pinguicula grandiflora hope it grows well for you 😁
Just set up my first temperate bog, interesting to see how yours are coming out of dormancy so I know what I'm looking at with mine!
Thank you for recommending this! I’ll try and do a bog barrel update soon
So fun to see everything coming back! Nice video!
Thank you, definitely a great time of year 😃
Do you think you could get your hands on a GJ Bloody Nurse? It’s my favorite cultivar!
It’s not a cultivar I have ever actually looked out for but it is definitely a stunning plant. I’ll have to look and see what’s around.
I'm just wondering, where do you guys get those nice square pots? I only have round ones, and they are a bit weird when I'm trying to stack them.
And I have a question about the experiment I did with a big garden. So, about a month and a half ago I put sphagnum moss and perlite in a big plastic container, I placed some plastic bottles on the bottom for reducing volume and increasing airlow. There was also a pipe with holes for watering.
I planted about 20 VFTs in there, watered everything but after almost a month and a half their health decreased dramastically. Upon uprooting them, only about 9 were alive, in a really bad shape. I planted those in fresh sphagnum so hopefully they recover.
I think the issue might have been bad media (it didn't smell, but I saw springtails in it)
So yesterday I planted my sarracenias in the same pot, and I changed the media to a fresh one. Hopefully that will work for me, because I want to have a nice bog garden. If it takes, I'll add moss in as well as some VFTs and droseras.
And btw, nice collection :)
Thank you. The pots I got from eBay, you can get like 200 for really cheap and for really well in rectangular trays.
Regarding your bog garden question, the media seemed fine if it was pure sphagnum moss. However if in that time any nutrients leached into the media then that would of presented a problem, springtails are good for soil so wouldn’t of been a sign of anything bad. It is likely either shock or something which leached into the soil. I hope you have better luck with your new attempt!!
Everything looks really healthy. Do you do any regular, preventative pest control? Like neem oil, sulfur spray, etc?
Thank you. This is actually only my second year with the greenhouse so I haven’t had major issues with pests. I have a problem with aphids every year before the Greenhouse and have used neem oil or the dunking method on individual plants but nothing extensive. Although this year I may have to look into something depending on the situation
do you feed your temperate drosera? mine used to be outside and they would always have lots of flys and insects on their dew. they are now inside a greenhouse and I don't see any insects for them to catch..
I don’t feed my plants and they’ll eventually catch their own prey when insects are in full abundance, during warmer weather I leave the door and window of my greenhouse open 24/7 which allows insects to enter and get caught by whatever plant is lucky enough to capture them up
What kind of pots are those??
I have my first set of baby Sarracenia x Franhamii. Any pointers on how to ensure I don’t lose this one as I did my VFT Red Dragon. From what I have read, it’s similar care to that of VFT’s.
Yes, Sarracenia have the same care as VFT. Ensure plenty of sunlight, have them sitting in rain water, always use a no nutrients soil like peat and let them have a winter dormancy
Hi I see you have drosera esterhuyseniae I am looking for that one
Hi, I get my drosera from either a carnivorous plant nursery such as hants flytraps or from Facebook community sales groups if this helps
