I just found this on RUclips. It’s 3 years old but that doesn’t matter. OMG I felt like you were reading my mind!!! I HATE HST!! What you said about how it becomes a chore and the likely outcome. I am not alone. 😊

I kept staring at the plus quilt in the background. I love your colors.

Girl! Just sew long strips together and cut triangles and iron open to a PERFECT HST!! So much easier than all of these methods, and little to NO waste 😉

I will definitely have to try the tube method when I do a "part 2". Thanks so much!

This method of strips is only ok if you are happy to have HSTs with bias edges

Now there is a creative grid folded corner flipper tool which eliminates drawing lines for the half square triangle.

What is the die number of your half-square triangle template from Accuquilt? My die from Accuquilt only has two half-square triangle cuts

How do I get your patterns?

YEA for the GO cutter to cut half square triangles! I would suggest that you lay your your straight grain of fabric along the edge of the blade on the die. I am so glad you showcased these dies. There is no trimming whatsoever!

That's a great point. Thanks for adding that tip (about the straight of grain). It's appreciated!

There’s less fabric waste if you cut your fabric to the size indicated on the template directions. I’ve been using the AccuQuilt, and it’s great for my arthritic wrists and fingers

About the waste on the Accuquilt, all you have to do is mis-measure or have a ruler slip once to make up the waste difference.
Not a cheap tool, but between the time savings and wear and tear on your joints, it's a viable option.

Wow. You really hate making half square triangles. I, too, kept staring at the quilt in the background. Love the colors on that.

I used a program called Triangulations to make hundreds of 1.5" finished HSTs for a quilt I recently made. Triangulations contains multiple sizes of HSTs, just print the PDF in the size desired. For the quilt I made I got 24 HSTs per sheet. Make sure to print in actual size. Very similar to your third method.

Rebecca I loved the third method. Would you please tell me where I can buy those “magic” paper patterns? I’m in Chile 🇨🇱

Try EZ Quilting Easy Angle Ruler Sharon Hultgren. No trimming required.

None of these methods are my choice. I use the tube method and I Never have to trim. Their perfect after each cut!

oh dear, isn´t it much more cumbersome to work with paper patterns than to run a roller blade? If your hand gets tired, use your left hand sometimes.

I realize that you will probably not see this comment. But, 1. Why do we sorry about the pen you used? The line will be cut off. I am on the way to the finish a Flock of Geese double to queen size quilt. I don’t think I’ll EVER make HST. I must have made about 300 HST!

    • @RebeccaBryan
      @RebeccaBryan  4 года назад +1

normally I don't worry about the pen I use... only when people are watching! And yikes! That's a lot of HSTs! Time for a break! ;)
