I loved Little Rock. They really kicked ass that night. Their mic man/selector had this wild antic, dance ram, huge forward, he ran out into the crowd, forward got bigger. Did that in the middle of their 1st round when the Bad Boy/Barrington Levy spun. An antic for sure and it was so cool. I kinda get chills thinking about it. I patted him on his shoulder (everyone was doing that, rushing him). It was really cool. I really wanted to hear more of them, still do. Deep box. Mad creativity. Fun night. I feel very lucky to have been at this one. Great recording by the way. Got it on loop. Respect from any which part you deh.
Madd juggling big up all sounds
Little Rock’s first round was f**king awesome. I never saw hype build that fast. Huge forwards, dance ram, excellent crowd, history dance. I feel so lucky to say I was there to witness this history dance with my best friend, my younger brother.
Mind blown at the Iwer George/Buju combination Crown pulled. Wow. Got to see a few other major clashes over the years too but this always felt like a huge “history dance” deal to have seen in person and it was. Matterhorn chain smoked his Newports, Squingy & Mark were on their A game, and Little Rock’s $300,000 dubplate investment was on full display. People still drove & flew hundreds of miles to attend stuff like this, as it was before you could get clips & full recordings by Monday. People still wrote clash reports on chunky white computers, they called friends on crumby cellphones Back to the Future style, “listen to this” in the middle of the shows. A nice companion to this clash is War 2000. Several quality recordings of it exist. This was a fun night.
I’m still mad how Little Rock cut groundsman dub tho. At that time that tune was the biggest song in the world. Could have gotten a way bigger forward if it was cut and played right. Listen to war 2000 squingy first round and see how he played that time. Flatten the place

Notice no one mention Pow Pow. 😂😂😂😂. Clash cassette fan since 1985. I mossed thos clash because did overtime chef work in the Bronx. Was vex but played this ritually in my Honda for months.

LoL. What a wonderful clash. Everyone slayed their first round. Matterhorn had people going crazy with the Sizzla “First Thing” dub.
Next… at 14:44 when that tune starts to play… even now it’s hard to describe how huge that Man a Man/Groundsman Baby Cham song was at this time for sound people. No doubt every sound had at LEAST one of those, but Little Rock got to go first and I loved hearing it on the Bad Weather riddim. Still is a huge song even now. But I mean H U G E at the time. I’m sure every single sound had that one ready to go- and Little Rock pulls it out in the first round on the Bad Weather just to confuse the crud out of everyone. It was a huge 🖕 🖕 🖕 to the other sounds but the crowd went bananas. I thought Little Rock played absolutely amazing and had speech. Brave sound bucking up against people like Squingy, Matterhorn. Sammy T & Simon. Big up New Jersey’s Little Rock.
